This year I had four early reviewer books which never arrived. I was able to reach out to one publisher who got me two books right away. I’m still waiting for May and June books, Country and Inland. I can’t figure out how to get to the right people for those publishers.
It is very frustrating.
I don’t want to purchase the books in case they do arrive.

Just to verify - you're clicking the "I have not received this book yet." link on the Books you've won page, right? I believe that sets a flag so that if a certain number of winners haven't received their books, you not only don't get dinged on the review requirement, but the person managing ER can see the spike and reach out to the publisher, too.

(ETA: this is how it worked a long time ago, my assumption is that this hasn't changed!)

I'm still waiting for a March book. I can see it in the stores already. Thankfully it wasn't one that I was die hard on reading so I'm just waiting it out. I was told also that any books listed as "un-received" aren't counted against your review obligations.

Have you updated your page? Not sure if it matters much, but every once in a while I will go and click the "I still haven't received this book" link to update the date.

I haven’t received INLANDERS from the May batch, either. Maybe two marking it as not received will put a bug in their ear.

I've just queried about a missing book for the third time. I get no response whatsoever.

There has been a staff shake up at LT in the last few months. It may be they are still getting used to who does what with what program.

I want to say it's now kristilabrie that is handling this problem, but again, she has more on her plate so may take longer to respond...

Hi All,

I'm handling Early Reviewers from here on out. I'm planning on digging into missing ER books tomorrow, and I'll be sure to visit this thread and hopefully update it as I work. Thanks for keeping us updated!

>7 katemcangus: If you also manage to have Tim removed from the list of winning books those which will never arrive - after a year everyone should abandon all hopes... - it would be great!

Since these books are free, I tend not to fuss overmuch if they don't show, but it is annoying. We appreciate the effort of looking into it though. :)

>8 .mau.: I'll bring that up to the team, thanks.

Ott 12, 2019, 5:10pm

>5 Yabut: What title are you waiting on? I'll add it to my list of books about which to contact publishers. Also, please feel free to email me directly:

>4 techeditor: I've contacted Random House. I'll let you know what I hear.

>1 nancyadair: I've added these to my list. I'll let you know what I hear from the publishers.

I agree with >8 .mau.: that after a year, it would be great if an Early Reviewers Book that was a no show and marked as such could drop off of our profile and page of wins.

I have one from July 2018 that I won that and was actually my first win, but never received. A Phone Call with a Fish. It is a book that I still plan on adding to my library but when I do, I don't want it to show up as an ER win and thus the publisher getting credit for sending it. Although in my case mine probably got lost in the mail because other winners of that book from that batch got their copy.

Still waiting on The Last Book Party from the April batch.

Ott 13, 2019, 4:49pm

Archaeology from Space: How the Future Shapes Our Past by Sarah Parcak (April 2019 batch) was a no-show for me. It appears that one member did receive the book. Have other winners received their copy?

Ott 13, 2019, 5:13pm

Still waiting for these three from earlier this year:

Falter: Has the Human Game Begun to Play Itself Out? by Bill McKibben (January)
Entertaining Between Worlds: Béla Pásztor (1895-1966) and His Era by Anna Szalai (February)
Terror in the Shadows Vol. 3 by Scare Street e-book (June)

Has anyone received any of these?

Ott 17, 2019, 5:41am

Still waiting on From Peasant Foods to Superfoods from the January batch. I've already marked it unreceived as well

Ott 20, 2019, 3:23am

I'm still waiting for You are Light by Aaron Becker. It looks like a couple of people received books as I see a couple reviews but still a no-show here.

Ott 31, 2019, 5:24pm

I'm still waiting for Inland by Tea Obreht from the May batch. Any help on that would be really appreciated :)

I'm still waiting on several books. The rate at which I actually receive LTER books has dropped off a bit over the past few years. I agree that it would be nice to be able to remove the unreceived books from LTER, or indicate that, if I do borrow a book that I "won" from the library and review it, that it was not received through the LTER program. For example, there's one book from like 2017 that I'm clearly not holding my breath about. I don't intend to borrow a copy from the library because I don't want it showing up as an LTER book when I review it.

lemontwist (#22):

One workaround, which is far from ideal, is to put a disclaimer at the top of your review that you did not, in fact, receive your ER copy.

(I had one from 2010 that never arrived - not just my copy, either, nobody got that one. I did eventually buy the book, but I didn't review it.)

Nov 1, 2019, 12:59pm

I have not received: 'How to Read the Constitution—and Why by Kim Wehle (April 2019 batch)'; 'Entertaining Between Worlds: Béla Pásztor (1895-1966) and His Era by Anna Szalai (February 2019 batch)' and a selection from 2010(I guess no hope on that one). Any help on these books would be appreciated.

I requested a book a long time ago, didn't receive it, requested it again, and got the second copy. So I can't put up the disclaimer. I got credit for reviewing both.

Otherwise, good idea. I like it. Thanks!

Received "Island of the Mad" shortly after contacting Laurie R. King through her place on Librarything. Now how do I get to Kim Wehle or Harper Paperbacks?
