Please post your covers here for the Birthstone Colour Challenge.
ETA: I'm going to use this thread for >23 humouress: the October birthstone challenge too.
... and for >60 humouress: the November birthstone challenge

Challenge 15 : Read a book with a (predominantly) jasper-coloured cover.
*********************************************************************
Our dog Jasper was named (after much debate and discussion) for the September birthstone that matches his coat colour, since he was born in September.

Hi Nina! I hope this cover will do:
It's a copy I've borrowed from the library, and it is very jasper-colored, except for the green spine and gold lettering. If it's not jasper-ish enough, let me know!
Btw, your Jasper is adorable!

>2 FAMeulstee: Welcome Anita! I should have known I could rely on you to kick things off.
>3 Dejah_Thoris: That's perfect, Dejah.
Thank you re Jasper. That's a photo from when we first got him, with all his puppy cuteness. He's still cute, although much larger now; even when I'm angry with him (because he's just chewed up my sock) I can't stay that way long - so I have to pretend.

Would this cover be "Jasper" enough?
6humouress
>5 FAMeulstee: That works for me, Anita.
I've added another photo of Jasper, taken last week. Poor thing was absolutely wiped out after a long day of ... lying around doing pretty much nothing.

How fortunate you (and your family) are to have a Jasper in your life!
Here's my cover and I hope it fits (although) the cover is predominately blue I think it is very Jasperesque

Is this one jasper enough? Percentage-wise there's more white, but the jasper shades seems like the predominant overall color to me.
12humouress
>7 FAMeulstee: Jasper started out quite pale and has got a bit darker over the years - although I'm never sure how much he has ... um ... acquired ... from the lawn. We did meet an older retriever the other week who was paler than him and who was even more enthusiastic than him. I think he startled Jasper rather; now he knows what it's like for other animals when they meet him!

Challenge 18: Read a book with a multicoloured cover for the October birthstone (tourmaline and opal) challenge.
**********************************************
So today is the day I turn 50 and I thought I would continue the birthstone challenge into October to celebrate. October birthstones are tourmaline, which comes in a multitude of colours:
and opal, which is usually multicoloured in a single gem (although it can also be a single colour):
and that keeps my Libran heart happy since I don't have to pick just one colour :0)

Would this cover do?
It definitely NOT as colorful as the other two posted....
If it's sufficiently multi-chromatic, let me know - there's another spot it can go.
Thanks!

Thank you Dejah!
I want to say ‘yes’ and it’s certainly colourful but it’s really just blue and shades of yellow. Would it fit the other challenge better?

It will fit into the other challenge just fine. I'll find another for yours!

I haven't started A Man of His Word yet. I'm trying to finish The Great Hunt first; hopefully I'll finish today or tomorrow and then I can move on to Duncan's book next week. It'd be great to read together! I might get my first TIOLI point in ages ;0)

The November birthstone challenge.
There are two birthstones for November: citrine (which is yellow) and topaz which comes in several pretty colours but the most desirable, apparently, is imperial topaz - a rich orange colour so I will go with autumnal colours.

Out Of Orange by Cleary Wolters
After having both watched the series of and read the book Orange Is the New Black which is both a memoir by Piper Kerman and A commentary on the prison system, I thought I’d look at the situation from Alex’s point of view. After reading one review I understand this memoir is much more self centered and less of a social commentary, about what anyone familiar with the story would expect.

>74 Dejah_Thoris: I'm about half-way through, so I think we can count it for November.
This week has been more relaxed. Today I ended up staying at home with my younger son who was off school with a cold. Obviously it wasn't too bad because he was up and about rather than sleeping it off - so we ended up starting a 1,500 piece jigsaw. We managed to do the edge (apart from 4 or 5 pieces) and he's planning on continuing with it tomorrow. I suspect he'll be well enough to go to school, though. :0)
ETA: there's not a lot of variation in the colours. Maybe I can count it towards the November birthstone challenge ...
>75 paulstalder: Looks like that will work, Paul.

Yes we are! I suppose I should really copy the challenge across. :0)
So; while my reading seems to be even slower than usual, I still want to attempt posting a year of birthstone challenges. Oddly enough, birthstones aren't something I'm that fussed about; just curious. Each time I set the monthly challenge, I have to look up the birthstones and learn something about them. They're not always consistent across the board or even across time. For instance, from the 15th to 20th centuries the December birthstones were bloodstone and ruby.
December is all about blue, even though there is a choice of three stones - turquoise, tanzanite and (for those following US birthstone charts) blue zircon. So you have a choice of shades of blue.
