Hi to all. I'm a new sf author and obviously a fan. Outside of a couple of notes on Goodreads, this is my first attempt at a blog. I like all the thoughts and comments I've read, though I did kind of jump around. There's so much great science fiction and fantasy out there to read and so little time. I tend to favorite the older writers like Asimov and Kobo Abe. Again, hi to all!

I'm not sure where you intended to post this, but this is a forum on LibraryThing, not a blog. Welcome, though!

A number of us maintain our own blogs, which may or may not talk about science fiction at least some of the time. Others cross-post reviews to blogs. I provide links to my blogs on my profile page.

Hi Arte. It's worth having a look at How Authors Can Use LibraryThing. In summary, self-promotion isn't generally allowed (though it's fine on your profile page and one or two other places), but general engagement with the community is great - welcome!

Thanks lorax, RobertDay and martin. Clearly I'm new to librarything as well. I'm still fumbling around sites affiliated with LT. It seems a bit cumbersome, but I'll eventually figure it out. A forum is good too.

>5 artelwhyte: As long as you do not promote your own work in this area, your thoughts on other SciFi authors and books would be quite welcome.
There are areas where authors can discuss their books as Martin has pointed out.

>5 artelwhyte: You will probably find that by participating in this forum and commenting generally on whatever aspects of the life sciencefictional are under discussion, other LTers may find themselves inspired to seek your work out because you've proved yourself to be "one of the Good Guys". I've come to many good writers through personal recommendation and following the links back to people's profile pages.

I find myself reading four or five books at a time. I often will pick up a non-fiction book on something scientific as well. Right now I am reading, Zapped; by Bob Berman. As he says in the title it's a 'Curious History of Invisible Light'. An interesting history on understanding light, from the radio waves to gamma rays. Also another book other nerds like me may like is, The Ape That Spoke. A dry, but interesting book on the development of language and its effect on the evelotution of modern humans.
