A HISTORY OF THE SALES HELD BY THE FOLIO SOCIETY

There is often discussion on FSD about what books were, and weren’t, in previous FS sales, and when these sales were held. This post is therefore one that will be updated as future sales occur, so that there is a running record of all FS sales in the future. As you can see, a lot of books have been on sale in the last three years.

Compiling a list of the books that were in previous sales is difficult. There is absolutely no guarantee that these lists are comprehensive, but they have been carefully compiled from historic FS records. The timing of sales, and the number in any year varies, but there is usually a sale soon after Christmas, and another one in July or August each year.

NB: There may be non-FS books listed, as these were also included in sales, although I have tried to remove these as much as possible.

Prices during the sale are shown where known.

Also, I had bought From Dawn to Decadence for half price at £49.50 during the Summer Sale 2018 so the original price would be £99. I'm not too sure that From Dawn to Decadence was in the New Year Sale 2018 at a price of £99, unless there was some price adjustments between the New Year Sale and Summer Sale which I'm not aware of...

I thought a little bit on this wcarter and after rummaging through my saved catalogues I came up with this idea: To list the books that were for sale here and upload the sale brochures/catalogues to the Wiki. You only would have the percentage discount as general information, but that's a pretty good marker as far as I'm concerned.

Well I've got a scanner with a hood but it's a pretty basic one - an Epson scanner/printer thing. The results are on the wiki page.

The next FS sale is probably less than three months away.
Thanks to NLNils (John), a spreadsheet detailing the sales over the past few years is available on the wiki here, or directly for downlaod here.
This spreadsheet has just been updates, so that out of print books are now not included in the main list, but are still listed at the bottom of the spreadsheet for historical reference.
This list may give FSD members some idea of which books may be in the next sale.

It's supposed to be good for a few weeks more, so theoretically should still work for any non-sale, 2020 or older books. But I've used it previously and so wasn't able to try it myself.

I clicked on this thread by accident and I am now utterly disappointed that a solid proportion of my wish list has been in a past sale. The old sales make both Folio’s current one and Folio’s recommended second-hand stockists look ridiculous in both range and price. Still, let’s hope for some brilliant new releases and future sales!
