Good bookshops around Kensington?

Title says it all, what are some good bookstores located within walking distance of Kensington Park?

There was a nice Waterstone's on High Street Kensington, just blocks from the Park. No bathrooms, though. Haven't been to London in a couple of years, though, so I'd like to know if there are other nice bookstores around there.

There is also a good Waterstone's at Notting Hill Gate, and a Book Warehouse there too. Oh, and there is the travel book shop there too, whose name excapes me (the one that the movie Notting Hill was based around). The area around Kensington Park is a bit of a dead zone for independent bookshops unfortunately (I live on the Lancaster Gate side), but if you don't mind a slightly longer walk, there is always Hatchards and the Waterstones in Piccadilly. There is also a branch of Crockatt & Powell opening in Chelsea soon, though it's a wee walk from Kensington.

I've thought of a few more! There is a Borders at the Whiteley's in Bayswater, and if you don't mind second-hand, there is a charity shop called All Aboard in Paddington which usually has specials out the front, and a bookshelf of £2 books at the back of the shop (in good condition, and mostly quite new).

I can't remember what it is called off the top of my head, but there is a decent budget booktshop a few doors down from South Kensington tube station if you head in the direction of the V&A. It specialises in art books, but has a lot of fiction paperbacks for £2.99 or thereabouts.

Almost forgot, there's also the Book & Comic Exchange on Pembroke Road in Notting Hill, which has a very impressive second hand selection. The staff are a bit smug, but you don't have to interact with them.

I used to spend my university vacations working in the Record & Tape Exchange, which is part of the same chain and round the corner from there, and I tried to keep my smugness to a minimum. It must have worked, since I got transferred to the Camden Town branch!

I remember that "Time Out" ran an article on Camden while I was working there, and it said of the Record & Tape Exchange that "the staff are not as rude as they used to be". I learned everything I know about customer service there.

Ha! Since most of my colleagues considered themselves to be too cool for school, I doubt the idea of uniform would have been well received. It's a nice thought, though.
