Could not resist this book. Resisted some groceries, instead: Who We Are and How We Got Here: Ancient DNA and the New Science of the Human Past by David Reich.

Last night I went to a poetry reading by English professor, poet and rock climber Terry Gifford where I bought his new collection Feast of Fools. Looks like I can't grab the right tochstone. but will try to fix later.

Wednesday I went to an FOL sale and for $33 hauled away all these. I would have grabbed more, but my back won't let me carry as much as I used to and best beloved is despairing over my book hoarding.

2> Intrigued by 3/4 of your list. Can't get into the Durrells, for some reason, even in Corfu...

Bought two, the second of which only because I couldn't get it from the library for love nor money:

* Why Kill the Innocent by C.S. Harris (historical mystery, not first in series, autobuy even in HC)
* Advice Not Given: A Guide To Getting Over Yourself by Mark Epstein (and based on a review I just read here, I believe I will be returning it)

Brought 3 ARCs home, but the teen fantasy might go back. I also took the Feist ARC I appropriated back to the store, and gave it to a coworker who's a bigger fantasy fan than I am.

* The Book of M: A Novel by Peng Shepherd (pub date 6/18; fantasy)
* The Devil's Half Mile by Paddy Hirsch (pub date 6/18; historical thriller)
* Bring Me Their Hearts by Sara Wolf (pub date 6/18; teen fantasy)

Three more ARCs:

* The Crooked Staircase by Dean Koontz (pub date 5/18; bk 3 in new thriller series)
* Tin Man by Sarah Winman (pub date 5/18; contemporary fiction)
* The Verdun Affair by Nick Dybek (pub date 6/18; historical fiction)

It was still April when I bought the first title (and got the other two free, to boot) at a reader appreciation convention:

* Only a Hero Will Do by Alanna Lucas (historical romance)
* _Stolen Kisses from the Viscount_ by Alanna Lucas (historical romance novella)
* Lightning Strikes Twice by Jillian Chantal (historical romance)

A week or so ago, I helped sort books for the Friends of the Library book sale (which I wisely did not actually go to).

One of the perks of sorting is a first look at the books, but I was restrained and limited myself to three:

The Sixty-eight Rooms, by Marianne Malone
Three American Architects : Richardson, Sullivan and Wright, 1865-1915, by James F. O'Gorman
The house with sixteen handmade doors : a tale of architectural choice and craftsmanship, by Henry Petroski

I bought a few today, but will save them for the May thread.
