I got the feeling that it was only a small number of people who were willing to start a revolution or a coup. That doesn't seem like enough for a Civil War.

I think so - the people are dissatisfied with their current lot and the government and royals don't seem to care.

It's possible. There was a whole bunch of unhappy people..but how many would actually support a Civil War is another matter. Seemed there were a lot that wanted to complain.

I'm not sure there would be enough people on the side of the incumbent Royal Family to fight in their cause... I think, if anything, it would have been a simple coup.

I felt it would never get to a Civil War (but could welll be wrong in this), because already had one civil war and look what happened all that death and they still had the monarchy back a few years later. Also people were afraid that a catholic would end up on the throne so a case of better the devil you know. He became Regent in 1811 (officially) so Napoleon just around the corner and then Wellington’s exploits brought people together (I think).
