What do you think had happened in the first chapter? How had the woman been killed? Why had George stumbled?

I think she was poisoned and George drugged

The scene was quite cleverly done - either that or I was just too slow to pick up on Guinevere actually being dead rather than being quietly seductive, ha!
I wondered whether the Regent had been hit on the head and knocked out? But he might simply have been in a drunken stupor and nodded off.
All things pointed to Guinevere being killed somewhere else.

I think George was drunk and Guinevere was dead but killed somewhere else.

I didn't realize she was dead right away but then it became obvious. I also think she was killed elsewhere and that George was drunk.

I thought George had been drugged like Brenda, rather than simply being drunk. I didn’t pick up at first that Guinevere was dead from the moment George entered the room. I like the way he was talking to a corpse and waiting for a response 😂
