What Angels Fear by C.S. Harris
Sebastian St. Cyr series Book #1
It's 1811, and the threat of revolution haunts the upper classes of King George III's England.
A beautiful young woman is found raped and savagely murdered on the altar steps of an ancient church near Westminster Abbey.
A dueling pistol discovered at the scene and the damning testimony of a witness both point to one man, Sebastian St. Cyr, Viscount Devlin, a brilliant young nobleman shattered by his experience in the Napoleonic Wars.
Now a fugitive running for his life, Sebastian calls upon his skill as an agent during the war to catch the killer and prove his own innocence.
In the process, he accumulates a band of unlikely allies, including the beauty Kat Boleyn, who broke Sebastian's heart years ago and a street urchin,Tom whose wit and cleverness speaks volumes for his intelligence that extends way beyond his years.
In Sebastian's world of intrigue and espionage, nothing is as it seems. It will be another 50 0r 60 years before forensic science will offer the knowledge that could have proven the suspects guilt or innocence. So in the meantime Sebastian is on his own with the help of his little band of follwers.
The truth…if it can ever be entirely found… may hold the key to the future of the British monarchy, as well as to Sebastian's own salvation.
Pros:
There were 10 people participating in this discussion who gave the book rave reviews and a overall average rating of 4.50
“There were a lot of characters to try to keep straight as to their relationship to one another as well as the story.”
Cons:
“The warehouse scene could have been a little shorter because it was a little bit too much description. I was anxious to get to the end of the book.”
Comments:
“I like the writing, characters, plot, and history, everything about the book.”
“Good plot line; well-written characters; author kept us guessing to the final section - don't think any of us named the actual killer in our suspect lists throughout the discussion.”

You are all more than welcome. I was late getting to it. We spent the day at the dinner theater close to us that has audience participation murder mysteries in their off season (Jan-March), They are so much fun and I did get the killer right. My husband missed the killer entirely. He says he's out of practice..Yeah right!

>7 Carol420: Oh dear that won’t have gone down well! 😂 As long as you both survived intact!
