Is there a way to batch print book cards, book pockets, and spine labels from your book records in LibraryThing? I thought I saw something about using Mail Merge from an .xls file. I'd love to know if anyone can explain this! I want to reclassify everything (300 titles??) into Dewey and doing this would make much easier work.

What brand/number (etc) of labels are available to print one or two labels at a time? We require a spine label, a bookpocket label and a card label. I found a template for such labels at WL-136.pdf. But this would require printing on a full blank sheet of label paper, then cutting out each label. There MUST be some sort of Avery or other brand of a sheet of labels that can be printed only a few at a time. We are a VERY small library so not much activity (yet!) Thanks in advance!!!

We use a Brother PTD-600 label printer (bounces between $60 and $80 on amazon, occasionally $50) to print barcode labels and spine labels on 1" wide TZe label tape. It prints and cuts the labels for us, we peel & stick. We've found the label tape to be durable and to adhere well, so we don't also need label covers to protect them (they effectively have their own built-in cover). There's no waste printing any number of labels, so this may fit your need well.

We made templates on a computer for each type of label we use and we print from the computer rather than using the label printer's keyboard, but if your desired formatting is simple it's also easy to use the label printer without a computer. Via the computer it's easy to print off a spreadsheet, which is particularly handy once a batch of books is entered into LT. We print labels for different collections in different colors - there are something like 8 color combinations available.

We've been pretty happy with this setup for a couple years now. The main downside is that the labels work well on many things other than just books, and the kind of person whom LT attracts will soon realize that just about everything in sight needs to be labeled... ;)

Here's a pattern sheet for printing spine labels with call numbers, QR-codes and bar-codes using google sheets from a LT .csv/.tsv export. You can choose either label printer (Brother QL-500 family, starts around €30, labels 2ct/each, or label sheets. Our preferred size is 62 x 29 mm (equals standard 3x8 Address labels on A4/Letter size sheets)

>7 D.Tamfu: You need to check your settings for whether to automatically apply barcodes to newly-added items or not: https://www.librarything.com/settings/barcodes.

As for call numbers, it depends on what type of system you're using and what gets pulled in from the data sources you're adding from. You can set your call number system here: https://www.librarything.com/settings/yourbooks. (See our blog post on your call number system here: .)

We do not auto-generate labels, but we sell pre-printed barcode labels in the LibraryThing Store: https://www.librarything.com/more/store, and you can make your own spine labels by exporting your library and running a Mail Merge of sorts. Please see this Talk thread where other members discuss what they've done: https://www.librarything.com/topic/97585.
