This looks like a leisurely way to see out the year. Happy reading!

Congrats on finishing your main challenge early! Enjoy your mini-challenge, both categories look promising. :)

Enjoy the mini-challenge! I will be setting up the Christmas Murder Mystery thread the day after American Thanksgiving, if you're interested ;)

Thanks to all. I am eager to get cracking on the Christmas mysteries, especially. I picked up the new P.D. James one from the library, which is The Mistletoe Murder and the annual Anne Perry Christmas mystery should be coming in soon.
I've just put down 6 books for the Christmas books just for a frame of reference. I may not get to all 6 before I start my 2017 challenge.
As for the recent purchases/borrows, I'm hoping to clear out some real book purchases, especially ER books, as well as make a dent in my big stack of library books that came in last week. Those always seem to come in at once.

Finished my first book for my mini challenge!!
Better Late Than Never by Jenn McKinlay--finished on 11/14/16
This is the newest book, 7th in the series, from Jenn McKinlay's Library Lovers series. The small town library offers an amnesty day and, among the other books to come in, is a copy of The Catcher in the Rye, borrowed by a patron 20 years early. The interesting thing about the book, it was soon determined, that a much loved high school teacher borrowed it shortly before she was murdered.
The sleuth, Lindsey, the director of the public library soon investigates (it's a cozy, of course she does). She wonders why someone brought the book in just then. Was it the murderer or someone who wanted the cold case to be reopened?
As is true in many cozies, there's also a romance angle and Lindsey is torn between Sully the boat captain and Robbie the British actor. Unlike other series, though, the author seems to try to resolve that tension.
Loved the premise. Love the characters. Really just loved the whole thing. One of my favorite cozy series around.

>6 lsh63: I think I'm going to read the new P.D. James book next, as it's a library book. There are 4 Christmas short stories. Size wise, it's a very small book and has only about 150 pages. Should be a quick read. The Mistletoe Murder
Are you still playing Trivia Crack? I've been keeping up with two LTers and an old HS/college friend.
>7 cyderry: Cheli, I haven't felt much like reading lately but am happy to be getting back into it.

Picked up my new glasses today and spend the afternoon reading The Underground Railroad. Much easier to read with better reading vision.
>10 -Eva-: I like to read Christmas books and reading some new releases (at least new to me) sounds like something I'd like.

>9 lindapanzo: I got The Mistletoe Murder, thanks Linda! I'm also going to read Tied Up in Tinsel and Murder Under The Christmas Tree for my holiday reads.
I'm glad you enjoyed The Underground Railroad , it was wonderful .
I kind of stopped playing Trivia Crack, it was getting in the way of reading and getting caught up on House of Cards!
