For: "used to be unique library thing book"
Was doing some updating of my ultb tag in the usual way, by removing the tag from those books that have been added to LibraryThing by someone in the past year or so. Reflected on how sometimes those additions come as a surprise in the form of "I can't believe someone else has that book" and sometimes in the form of "I can't believe someone hadn't entered that book before now." Most recent culling had examples of both. But the observation made me wistful that I have just been removing the ultb tag from those books that have multiple copies. I wish I had thought to retag them as utbultb so I could see what happens over time to formerly ultb books.

Thing is, a lot of so-called "unique" books aren't. They simply need to be properly combined. I've seen this a lot.

Oh yeah. I even mentioned that in my latest post on the "Have you checked your list?" thread. It can be pretty funny when a ultb "suddenly" has 15 copies.

I have books tagged ultb that show as two copies. I've been separating my late husband's library from my own into a separate account, but for books I've read, I leave the record in my own catalog as Read but not owned. Since there's only one physical copy, and both records are my own, I leave it as ultb.
Occasionally I'll find books that were ultb when I first entered them years ago but aren't anymore. I wish I had tagged them "First!" but that is a little undignified. ;-)
