Do any of you have any of the Franklin Mint 100 Greatest Recordings of All Time? I subscribed to the whole collection as it was released. There are two records in very sturdy cases with enclosed commentary. Within the cases, the records are protected with a clear plastic casing. They did not seem to just use one record label but gathered a collection from many labels, it seems. Many of the recordings are vintage classics but were carefully restored.
Now that Library Thing can list records, I need to find a decent way to post these in my Library Thing library.
It seems interesting that vinyl records seem to be making a comeback. I noticed that a Barnes & Noble store now sells vinyl records and turntables. Vintage vinyl album stores are popping up with new reissues in vinyl. There does seem to be a warmth to listening to fine music in vinyl or it may be a nostalgic imagination of mine.

>1 Forthwith: I remember the ad as a Franklin library collector. My perception was these were quality LPs and I was intrigued but maxed out with their books. I hope you have a good turntable and stereo to listen to that "warm" analog sound. Incidentally if you have a huge LP library and have money you might consider a laser turntable which is reported to be superior to a stylus turntable.

>2 HugoDumas: "you might consider a laser turntable" maybe when they drop below $10000. $20000 seems a little steep for a turntable. Neat tech, though.

>3 kdweber: I saw it for $8,000 if you do not need 78 and 45 rpm. I known people with upwards of 5,000 LPs and for them it makes sense. I am dying to do a blind listening test especially with those high end Mobile Fidelity and Telarc master recordings. They used to blow me away with my old stylus system. With the laser LP it plays both sides, which was one of my annoyances turning it over every 20 minutes.
