Now, that's "read" as in the present tense verb form: "Today I will read all the Crambo threads in reverse chronological order."

Have at it, folks!

I hope you will do so with all due celerity.

You are quick as a wink, Jim, but you're not (yet) the winner.

Does it mean "ply a soft substance
with the hands?"

Is that a joint?

Roland, I'm afraid you don't win the dough (ahem), at least not this time.

Jenni, my answer could be so much funnier if only I had checked this thread at 4:20 this afternoon.

Not: speed, knead, weed

Act like a Texan of ʻ13 or so, or a
South Carolinian or Virginian of ʻ60 or so?

This whole Crambo thing is ridiculous, you know? I mean, somebody says she knows a word--or even, is just thinking of a word--but she won't tell it to the rest of us, and so we have to go through all these gyrations to figure out what it is! Why in the wide world of sports doesn't she just tell us what the word is, so we can all go about our normal daily tedium? Think what a service that would be to the world--no more having to think up rhymes, come up with cute little hints, and post them as guesses. Think how much more sudoku could be played with the time saved! I tell ya, this guessing stuff is a conspiracy! We should ban all Crambo players from entering the country, or at least make them sign a pledge to stop this crap. Why, there are mothers all over this great nation of ours who are losing their kids to Crambo, and there's nothing they can do about it--the kids are being radicalized before their parents have a chance to see it. I tell you, folks, this has got to stop! Blah blah blah...

ETA: don't try to analyze all this stuff, just think of the entry as a whole.

Woo! Let's dive right in ...

>7 rolandperkins: You, Roland, are a jewel among Crambo players, but your word is not on target.

>8 rolandperkins: You've got me stumped on this one, I'm afraid. Can you cough up another clue for the IQ-impaired Crambo?

>9 Jim53: Jim, your rant is impressive — impressively wrong, that is. (Although it's a great word.)

>10 MsNick: Man, I could use a big ole tankard of that right now, MsNick.

>11 Jenni_Canuck: How rude of them! Someone should lock them up and throw away the ... oh, right.

additional clue on #8:

The U. Sʻs "North" considered it (ca. 1828) but
backed away from it, before the "South" did it, 1865.

I am definitely, unquestionably, absotively, posilutely, verily, in fact making a guess.

24rolandperkins
Dic 13, 2015, 6:03 pm

Phonetically this guess already appears
among the "Nots". Semantically itʻs a
near synonym of "require", "lack", or (in
British Victorian usage) "want". *

>22 rolandperkins: Ah! The light dawns in Crambo's brain. I'm embarrassed I didn't get from your first clue, which in retrospect was perfectly clear.

>23 Jim53: I've been cogitating on your clue, Jim, and I'm going with 'indeed'. Am I right? If I am, you're wrong. :-)

Is it too soon for Crambo to drop a clue? Take a look at that last sentence in the first post.
