Oooohhh... Lovely. I recognize a number of the authors but none of the book titles. Obliviously, I need to pay more attention to new releases. ;-)

I did read Heather O'Neill's book of short stories and loved them.

I haven't heard enough about any of these to have an opinion, other than the Heather O'Neill, which I hear is super.

Here is the press release from CBC about the Giller Shortlist

Two short story collections - one in translation from the original French - and three novels have made the 2015 Scotiabank Giller Prize shortlist.

André Alexis scores his second shortlist nod of the season - his novel Fifteen Dogs is also in the running for the Rogers Writers' Trust Fiction Prize.

This year is the second in a row that Heather O'Neill has made the Giller shortlist. In 2014, she was nominated for her novel The Girl Who Was Saturday Night. This year, she is being recognized for her short story collection Daydreams of Angels.

Samuel Archibald's short story collection Arvida was a bestseller when it was originally released in French. The English-language edition - which was translated by Donald Winkler - was just released.

Rachel Cusk, who was born in Canada but was raised and currently lives in the U.K., is a finalist for her novel Outline, which was also a finalist for the Bailey's Prize in the U.K.

Anakana Schofield rounds out the list for her sophomore novel, Martin John. Her debut novel, Malarky, won the Amazon.ca First Novel Award and the Debut-Litzer Prize for Fiction.

The winner of the $100,000 prize, the richest literary prize in Canada, will be revealed on November 10.

>7 torontoc: thanks for putting the list and updates together. They are all now in my TBR notebook. We in the US should be reading more of our northern neighbors. Alas, none of them seem to be on Ilana's CAC list for 2016, but perhaps they will be for the following year.
