Thanks for posting pictures. A beautiful book that is very well done by EP. EP certainly picked a nice edition for the facsimile copy.
The Call of the Wild was the July issue in the Great Books of the 20th Century series, and I was very impressed with it. A higher quality production that the other books in the series (except the first book, The Great Gatsby, which is also of higher quality). The leather is softer - more like what seems to be standard on a DLE. And, the paper is heavier and textured. I've uploaded some pics.
Here is the cover. Same imprint on front and back. I thought this was a very nice touch to have the cover with a pattern in keeping with the subject of the book. The gold stamping is deep, giving a "3D" illusion that I've seen on other deep stamped books.
The spine stamping is also nicely done with the paw print motif:
This is essentially an exact reproduction of the HP edition. Here is the title page and facing illustration:
The beginning of each chapter has a full page illustration with an illustration at the top of the text:
Finally, here is a closeup of a page. Hopefully you can see the texture of the paper.
Subscription price is just under $70 in this series. A nice edition and well worth the money.

This well designed and conceived book was originally issued as a 3 volume set in the 1990s at a price approximately half of this DLE.

For some reason, LT isn't taking the whole link. You'll need to cop and paste it into your browser.

They're all very nice. I do have to say, if money was no issue I would definitely go with the DLE. Those original illustrations are beautiful (and I'm still curious how Charles Bronson got in there...)

I too love the paw print set. I have been working on this set for some time and have 2/3 so far. Very hard to find without flaws!

Here is the 3 volume 1990s set with deep paw print. Price for the set was less than half of this DLE. Set was White Fang, Call of the Wild, and Short Stories (when London was most depressed!)

As an FYI I learned I most post a HTTP link from my computer and not mobile device for it to be posted correctly in LT.

I don't know what the going rate is but I picked up that 3 volume set on eBay about 4 years ago for around $100.00 I believe.

Arknight - that was a decent deal. As I stated I have 2/3 of them (missing White Fang) and I think I've paid around $30/book so far.

I want the edition of this book that is part f the Great Books of The 20th Century, but stopped getting them because I switched over to the Reader's Choice X for now. When I'm done receiving these then I'll go back to the 20th Century collection since there are many titles in that collection I would love to read and own.
