I don't know if anyone else is suffering this issue, but I can't reorder my collections. Anytime I click and drag a collection, it just snaps back to where it originally was.
I've tried it on the following systems:
PC - Windows 7 - Chrome (latest update)
PC - Windows XP - Chrome (latest update)
MAC - OSX - Chrome (latest update)
MAC - OSX - Firefox (latest update)
MAC - OSX - Safari (latest update)

Where on LT have you been doing it? It has always been the case that some locations work better than others.

Ammar, has something changed on a low level?

The only way I know how to reorder collections is to go to "Your books" (or "My books", or "Catalog", or simply "Books" depending on how that other argument goes...) , select the "Collections" drop-down menu from below the LibraryThing logo, scroll to the bottom of the list, and select "Edit Collections..."

It works fine for me using FF on Win 7.

You can also do it from the book information box on the main page of any book you own, from the quick edit box on the add books page, on any edit book page...

I can confirm (after downloading it to my work computer) that it does indeed work in FF on Windows 7.

>1 benuathanasia: I have tried the mentioned OS/browser combinations. It is working for me dragging and saving.
In your case, was the problem not being able to correctly drag an element to another place in the list?

I was trying to move "Read But Unowned" to the top of the list since it is my most popular category when adding lately. I couldn't move it anywhere though - it just kept re-pinning itself where it had originally been. I tried on several other computers at my work and I tried it with several other categories as well. Only the Firefox/Windows 7 combination worked.

I have tried signing in using your account, but unfortunately, I was unable to replicate the bug.
Do you have an add-ons you are using such as greasemonkey scripts?
If you press F12 and check the console tab, are there any errors displayed?

Old thread but am I able to organize my (currently developing) collection priority by mobile phone? Collection manager says click and drag. Clicking and dragging scrolls the list.
At some point in the future I'd also like it if I could put non-book media in a separate section - unless I can do this already.

>12 JacksonHeuer: In a separate collection? Sure, just create one and move them or add them to that collection if they are new additions

No... I mean what order I have the collections in on my profile.

>14 JacksonHeuer:
They're ordered on your profile the way you have them ordered in the Collection list. So if you want to change it on your profile, you'll need to go to "Edit collections" and re-order them there.

>12 JacksonHeuer: I never managed to get it to work on my phone (Safari/iOS) -- you cannot really click and drag there - the screen just slides -- so when I need to reorder them, I just do it from my laptop browser.

Was this issue ever resolved? I'm using Windows 10/11 in various browsers (Chrome, Edge, Firefox, Amazon (Silk),'but I'm not able to reorder by click 'n drag instructions. Always snaps back. Is there another scene I should use or do I need to stop entering and focus on manually reordering? I'm using a three section call tree: Dewey Genres 100s), Dewey specific Classes (10s) & Dewey Specific Books 1 & under.

>18 Huba.Library: I don't believe this has been resolved, it's an issue that is usually only seen with libraries that have many Collections in their drop-downs. A workaround I've found that helps, if you want to try it: drag-and-drop in small sections, rather than trying to move a Collection a long way up/down the menu at a time. Let me know if that helps!

I'm going to set this one to deferred status because I'm in the process of rewriting the Collections manager interface, so this will likely be solved with that.
