It would be interesting to see your suggestions as to how to mark this important date in English literature.

On The Folio Society group, I have already proposed that The Folio Society might wish to publish accurate and beautiful copies of all Jane Austen's First Editions.

Some other early proposals to get people thinking of what they would like to see done:

(i) Schools and colleges around the world might be encouraged to make this the year when Jane Austen is introduced to all pupils in literature classes.

(ii) While there are many good biographies of Jane Austen, we still do not have a definitive one and while this may not be possible due to so many of her letters being lost or destroyed, some of our best biographers and Austen specialists might wish to have a crack at writing it.

(iii) Historic houses here in England are usually a mixture of styles and nearly always have modern services installed. Would n't it be interesting to visit and look over an attempt to rebuild Jane's childhood home at Steventon in Hampshire exactly as we think it would have been in the 18th century?

(iv) Jane Austen was identified very early on as a Christian writer and she had a strong conventional Anglican faith. I would hope that Winchester cathedral (where she is buried), St Paul's Cathedral in the City and Westminster Abbey would wish to hold services of thanksgiving for her life and her works of genius.

(v) Many might wish to make 2017 the year they read all of Jane Austen's work, including all the novels, the Juvenalia and her letters.

Other suggestions welcome....
