Tape residue

I've gotten a lot of crud and dirt off of shiny paperback covers by using pre-moistened lens wipes, but I imagine those are pretty much just rubbing alcohol. However, if you have any handy, it might be worth a try.

Have you tried Goo Gone? There seem to be a lot of similar products. That's just the one I have, and it would work, I'm sure, though there would be some aroma to linger.

I've had good luck with Goo Gone, too.

You may also want to try Bestene. Hard to find, but does a good job.

Lighter fluid. Just be sure ther are no open flames nearby.
