Susan Glaspell is the author of two Persephone editions Brook Evans which I read quite recently and loved and Fidelity which I read a long time ago and now want to 're-read.
I recently found an old cheap copy of one of her other novels Ambrose Holt and family. I posted my review of it on my blog
http://heavenali.wordpress.com/2014/08/03/ambrose-holt-and-family-susan-glaspell...

I tweeted Persephone with a link to my review gently suggesting that they might want to re-issue it.They replied saying thanks for championing SG who they consider a superb writer, but her books don't sell well. I was shocked, I think she is a wonderful writer. I now have a copy of her short stories Her America: A Jury of her Peers and other stories I will continue to bang on about Susan Glaspell but I am sad to think it's unlikely that Persephone will re-issue any more of her books.

Oh, well done you and that is a shame - I would be shocked to think Fidelity doesn't sell for them, as it's so good.

Hear hear - I recently purchased Fidelity new, directly from Persephone and didn't realise I was in a minority: it's a superb book and way ahead of its time.

I'm disappointed but not shocked, because Fidelity and much of Susan Glaspells' work is out of copyright. When free downloads are available the market for any author must shrink, and when the author is not widely known it is unlikely to yield a profit .....

I am reading Fidelity now and if anyone wants to have a chat about it, I'm dying for a good blather. I really like it but I do find her style very thorny. I am about halfway through.
