Just thought I'd start another thread for July. I still haven't decided what to read yet - plenty of choices on my tbr pile.

I think I'll read The Blind Assassin by Margaret Atwood, which would mark off several tick boxes on my reading plans for the year: Canadian literature; Booker Prize winner; Orange Prize finalist; TBR book.

I've now made a start on Fred & Edie by Jill Dawson, it was the first Orange book I came across when I went looking on Mt tbr. Quite happy because I have a couple of her books and haven't read anything by her yet.

I just downloaded The London Train on audiobook and now see that it's an Orange book.

Yay! I'm really glad not to be the only one doing this. I'm reading Americanah and hope that I'll be able to squeeze something else from my long list before the month is out.

I started with The Gathering by Enright, which ticked a few boxes and now I am reading Inheritance of Loss by Desai, which should tick a few more.

I'm currently enjoying On Beauty, but stumped as to where I'll be going next. State of Wonder maybe, or perhaps The Night Watch? I'll have to wait and see.

I am now reading What the Body Remembers by Baldwin (and I can't say that I am all that engaged yet but I am only a few chapters in) and The Position by Wolitzer, which I am really enjoying (and kicking myself for not picking it up earlier).

I finished listening to the audiobook of The London Train by Tessa Hadley. I can see that a lot of readers wouldn't like this one (too slow, unlikable characters, adultery) but I enjoyed it very much. Some lovely writing. I will keep my eye open for more by this author.

I just finished Fred & Edie by Jill Dawson which I enjoyed quite a lot. It's based on a true story of a doomed love affair and a murder trial.
