Another 'foodie' offering from Crambo.

2starbox
Giu 1, 2014, 3:49 pm

Is it in the formation of a mosaic?

As things are worked out (?) or fated (?),
Some things are not actually __ __ __ __ __ __;
Theyʻre just implied;
so, am I asking
(without multi-tasking)
For a free ride
Onto the Cram-
bo! Word? I suppose I am!

4oldstick
Giu 2, 2014, 7:30 am

Not tessellated, stated or any form of stated.

5starbox
Giu 2, 2014, 10:30 am

Is it starved of flesh?

6oldstick
Modificato: Giu 4, 2014, 5:17 am

Not emaciated, if that is the word, but you are right that it is an adjective.

Giu 8, 2014, 7:44 pm

Sorry, hadn't noticed the foodie clue in #1:

Does it pertain to the treatment of saturated fat?

8rolandperkins
Modificato: Giu 9, 2014, 2:58 am

Is it "-ated" with a chemical
element, the most common in human physiology?

9oldstick
Giu 9, 2014, 7:07 am

It isn't hydrogenated and I'm still working on starbox's clue!

10rolandperkins
Giu 9, 2014, 8:48 pm

The guess in #8 wasn't "hydrogenated";
I don't know enough chemistry to
know what that would be like. 8 was
more a word in everyday use - -
applied not to solid foods but to beverages.

11oldstick
Giu 10, 2014, 6:55 am

Still trying to work out the most common element in human physiology. I thought it was water so oxygenated is wrong - and not in everyday use. I wish I could think of what to do with saturated fat apart from dissolving it. Maybe there are too many options. If I can get these two guesses I'll give another clue!

Giu 16, 2014, 10:35 pm

Why is this taking so long? I've __(1)__ and __(2)__. but I just feel __(3)__ and __(4)__.

13starbox
Giu 17, 2014, 4:07 pm

Sorry, my clue was 'hydrogenated'.

14starbox
Giu 17, 2014, 4:09 pm

Did you soak the food in liquid to soften it?

15oldstick
Modificato: Giu 18, 2014, 7:09 am

Not tessellated, stated, emaciated, hydrogenated or marinated. Louminous - this couldn't happen to you unless you were in a horror movie. It is still following the foodie theme. Sorry if you are irritated and frustrated.I'll come back to the others.

16louminus
Giu 18, 2014, 9:55 am

Sorry about the senior moment; I completely forgot we were on a foodie theme. Although (1) or (2) could fit if you are of a bovine sort.

17oldstick
Giu 19, 2014, 5:35 am

Are (1) and (2) adjectives?

18louminus
Giu 20, 2014, 12:19 pm

>>17 oldstick: As used in >>12 louminus:, 16 they are verbs, past tense.
Clarification: In >>16 louminus:, I refer to a single word, which could be placed in either (1) or (2). I.e. exact word order is immaterial.

19starbox
Giu 20, 2014, 2:31 pm

#14 I was thinking of macerated, but marinated also fits the clue!

20oldstick
Giu 22, 2014, 5:14 am

See #6 adjectives only required and, before anyone suggests it , it is not 'decimated.'

Not enough cooks playing this game. Guess I'd better go back to using my computer for writing!
Actually, not many people on my groups at all. Maybe it's because it is summer. I'll keep putting books I have read on here but for anyone still playing Crambo - there's a sweet answer.
Bye for now.J.

I've been chewing on this word for weeks, and I'm ready to spit it out!

23oldstick
Lug 15, 2014, 6:55 am

You wouldn't have to - it's easy to digest.

24oldstick
Lug 31, 2014, 5:08 am

To recap - not tesselated, stated, emaciated, hydrogenated, marinated, macerated, decimated or masticated. My children's children would have worked it out by now.

25Jenni_Canuck

A cooking term that's become street slang meaning to be drunk and high at the same time

26Jim53
Lug 31, 2014, 5:18 pm

do your grandkids drink lots of soda?

27rolandperkins
Ago 1, 2014, 3:29 am

26 sounds like it = 8, which I havenʻt seen in the "NOTS" yet.

28oldstick
Ago 1, 2014, 9:05 am

Welcome back - not inebriated, and I'm working on the other clues - but it is not liquid.

29Jenni_Canuck
Ago 1, 2014, 10:05 am

>28 oldstick: I may have been but my guess wasn't inebriated. Something you might do with a turkey.

30Jim53
Ago 1, 2014, 10:09 am

>27 rolandperkins: You're right, Roland. I just looked at the not list, plus the reference to grandchildren. We are X-based life forms, aren't we?

31oldstick
Modificato: Ago 1, 2014, 10:30 am

You could only do this with the bones. I'm a hopeless guesser, aren't I - but then I do it all from memory and it is getting worse with age. I'm no scientist but chlorinated and irradiated are also wrong.

32oldstick
Ago 15, 2014, 4:49 am

Seems we have ground to a halt. I'm off line for a week or two. Maybe someone will have guessed it by the time I return.

33oldstick
Ago 28, 2014, 5:25 am

I would never have imagined that a word we see in our supermarkets every week could be so difficult to guess - maybe it is not in common use in the USA?
I'll cast around for a different clue.

34rolandperkins
Modificato: Ago 28, 2014, 8:57 am

Thereʻs still one ending in
"_ated" that hasnʻt been guessed. But I wouldnʻt expect it to be seen much
in a U. S. supermarket, as itʻs usually said/written unfavorably, or at best, neutrally.

35oldstick
Ago 29, 2014, 9:42 am

Intoxicated?

36rolandperkins
Ago 29, 2014, 9:49 am

#8 and (I think) 26 are not
"intoxicated".

37oldstick
Ago 30, 2014, 7:23 am

carbonated?

38rolandperkins
Ago 30, 2014, 3:40 pm

Yes, "carbonated" is right for the guess of #8 and (I think) 26.

39oldstick
Ago 31, 2014, 6:21 am

Now be a sweetheart and find the right answer. This has gone on long enough!
10 letters.

40Jim53
Ago 31, 2014, 8:03 pm

Hmmmm... what happens in your supermarkets every week? The only thing that comes to mind is various sales. Or is it just that you tend to go every week?

I haven't been able to make anything of "cast around"; not sure if that was intended as an oblique hint.

41oldstick
Set 1, 2014, 7:04 am

Right -all clues- gran, sweet, ground, cast - now say you can't work it out!

Of the Syllables:

"My FIRST is "Grandmother"-for-short;
my SECOND is ʻyou will",(contraction); (--2 letters --)
my THIRD is "consumed"
my FOURTH is "Edward, Edmund, or
Edwin", familiarly ?

43oldstick
Set 4, 2014, 4:51 am

About time , too. Don't you have granulated sugar in America?

44rolandperkins
Set 4, 2014, 1:12 pm

". . . granulated sugar in
America?"

Yes. And thatʻs about the only place we see the word - - on a sugar box. Back when
we had (and for a some decades were run by) the sugar industry, it
was notorious that the retail price of sugar was always greater than on the U. S. mainland.
