Just adding CK info for a library book, and I've found variations between US and UK versions for the series name, not just the book titles. The author, Christopher Fowler, has blogged that each book has two distinct editions, one for each side of the pond. The differences definitely exist (It's not just me!).

-- series = Peculiar Crimes Unit mysteries (e.g., interior listing of the titles in the series)
UK book:
-- titlle = Bryant & May and the Invisible Code
-- series = Bryant & May
(most or all UK titles start with "Bryant & May")
Is there a way to acknowledge both series titles? Is there a simple and/or graceful way to do this? I could create a second series, but that's an awful lot of work -- not to mention unnecessary duplication.
Corollary question: Is there a way to rename a series and have the change roll out to all works in the series? Or is all series info entered only into the "Series" field on each work's own page?

To start with your last question, No, the only way is to make the change on every work page. Personally, I think that is good in cases like this. You have to be almost as dedicated as the person who created the series to change it.
The differences exist, and the question is how to deal with them. The first and easiest thing to do would be to add a series description noting that this is the original UK series name and that the US publisher calls it _____.
Creating a second series is a real possibility, and justified because people will search for it under both names. Considering the amount of duplication in many popular series, I don't think that is a problem. But it is a good idea to write series descriptions so people know why there is the duplication.
Or you could discuss with the person who has done the most work on it whether there is a way to put both names into one series name. (But remember that most punctuation messes things up.)

I'd like to know what "distinct" editions means here. Is it as "distinct" as the US and UK editions of Harry Potter? Or even of the Polish and American versions of Solaris?
Personally (and like so much, this is a matter of opinion), I'd prefer one series. But I don't have any of the books so I don't really have any skin in the game.
