Hi everyone! Starting my first challenge on LibraryThing, here goes! While I'm on a mission to read Female Fantasy Authors this year, I didn't want to limit myself... (heh, heh, yes, I'm a bookworm and I read anything that grabs my interest!)

January books that I've already read:

The Ghost Bride (FFA)
Rifkind's Challenge (FFA)
Exposed
Midnight Games
Whispers by Carolyn Jewel
Dark Waters
Help. Thanks. Wow.

The Anvil of the World (FFA) If you're looking for a fun, thoughtful fantasy read, check this out. It's a blend of Terry Pratchett, Sinbad the Sailor and Faulty Towers. I'm definitely reading more by Kage Baker.

Happy reading to all!

Thanks scaifea, you just made me realize I need to put a FFA notation next to my Female Fantasy Authors reads...ah, the important details that escape me!

Hi Mina,

I wonder if you've read Glenda Larke yet? She's probably my favorite female fantasy writer, particular The Aware, which is first in her "Isles of Glory" trilogy. Unfortunately, the book covers for the series published in the U.S. were hideous... but the books are terrific. They're out of print now, though, so only available second-hand.

Her "Last Stormlord" trilogy is probably still in print, and the first book in her newest trilogy comes out this March. She's Australian but spent many years living in Malaysia. In my opinion, her biggest strength is in her fantasy world-building.

Thanks for the recommendation, Amy! I'll look for Glenda Larke when I reach the Ls (yes, I'm going down the alphabet...no clue what I'll find in X...)

Good fantasy world building, great characterization and awesome story are what I'm hoping to find as I make my way through my Female Fantasy Authors reading challenge :)
