Name the three Black sisters, cousins to Sirius, one of them good, one of them bad, one of them could have gone either way. :)
2pollysmith
Narcissa Bellatrix and Andromeda
4pollysmith
and to whom were they married?
5Rose_Weasley
Narcissa was married to Lucius Malfoy, Bellatrix was married to Rudolphos Lestrange, and Andromeda was married to Edward "Teddy" Tonks.
6pollysmith
very good! Isn't it odd that we know a lot about Lucius and ted Tonks but not much about Rudy?
7Rose_Weasley
yes, i wonder whether he died or something before the books took place.

Narcissa Bellatrix and Andromeda
Narcissa Bellatrix and Andromeda
10varielle
In my opinion Narcissa could have gone either way. Bellatrix was clearly bad and Andromeda (Tonks' mom) seemed to be a good egg.
11Rose_Weasley
Right, Foggi.
12foggidawn
Whoops, I forgot I answered that! Okay new question:
When Harry first met Professor Quirrell, what reason did Quirrell give for visiting Diagon Alley that day?

15pollysmith
Who arrived first on privet drive to await Harry's arrival
17pollysmith

19Rose_Weasley
Gnomes infested the garden, which could be gotten rid of by throwing them out by their hair.
21Rose_Weasley
What happens when a boy tries to go into the girls dormitory in Gryffindor?
22BuffaloPhil
The stairs turn into a slide which deposits them back into the common room.
23Rose_Weasley
Ding Ding Ding!
24BuffaloPhil
What was the subject of the essay Harry was writing for History Of Magic in the summer holidays prior to his third year at Hogwarts?

Right you are!
32EvangelineM
Also, the black family motto is toujours pur meaning always pure
34pollysmith
a teaspoon
36pollysmith
What was Harry's one word description of the kiss?
37EvangelineM
Wet
38pollysmith
Thats right!
39EvangelineM
What is Professor Lockhart's first name?
41EvangelineM
Right
43EvangelineM
Glading with Gouls?
45foggidawn
I can't list all of them off the top of my head, but I think there's Travels with Trolls, Magical Me, Break with a Banshee, Vacation with a Vampire (or maybe it's voyages?) ... somebody else fill in the rest!
46EvangelineM
It's voyages. Gilderoy Lockhart's guide to household pests.
52foggidawn
Nope, not them either. Hint: she was wearing one of their badges in Order of the Phoenix, prompting Ron to ask if she'd always been a fan, or just jumped on the bandwagon since they started winning.
53EvangelineM
The Tornadoes.
55EvangelineM
What does Harry whisper to the snitch to get it to open?

76EvangelineM

78EvangelineM
What was Fred and George's shop called?
80EvangelineM
Yep
82EvangelineM
It was hit by Hermione's rebounding curse
84EvangelineM
What is Sirius's nickname?
85foggidawn
He's Padfoot to the marauders, or Snuffles when he's on the run and Harry, Ron, and Hermione have to use a code word to talk about him.
86foggidawn
I have a good question in mind and I don't want to forget it, so I'm going to post it now:
The house-elves have another name for the Room of Requirement -- what is it?
The house-elves have another name for the Room of Requirement -- what is it?
87varielle
The come and go room? If that's it someone else please go, I'm leaving today on vacation and won't have access for two weeks.

107foggidawn
Oh, for goodness' sake, I forgot to post a question!
In addition to the Acromantula venom, what other valuable item did Slughorn get on the night of Aragog's funeral?
In addition to the Acromantula venom, what other valuable item did Slughorn get on the night of Aragog's funeral?
108BuffaloPhil
Was it tentacula seeds? When Harry found him stealing (sorry, borrowing) them in the greenhouse?
110foggidawn
That wasn't the answer I had in mind, but it's technically correct. Do you want to ask the next question, or does anyone want to take a crack at guessing the answer that I had in mind?
111varielle
I'm leaving town, so Phil can have it, unless you want to hold out for a different answer.
113BuffaloPhil
I'm away for the weekend as well so if someone else gets your answer then they can carry on, if no-one's got it by Monday then I can set a question.
116foggidawn
She works at the Ministry, right? But I can't remember exactly what her position was without looking it up. Or was it Marietta's mother who worked at the Ministry?
118foggidawn
Which two Aurors did Fudge bring with him to confront Dumbledore in Order of the Phoenix?
122varielle
*hint* First mentioned in The Goblet of Fire.
123EvangelineM
Someone had been killed
125EvangelineM
What does Molly scream at bellatrix when she's attacking Ginny?
126BuffaloPhil
Not sure on the first word but it's something like 'Not my daughter, you bitch!'
127EvangelineM
Exactly! :) my favorite line
128BuffaloPhil
OK easy one for you.
What number vault contained the Philosopher's (or Sorcerer's, if you're American) Stone?
What number vault contained the Philosopher's (or Sorcerer's, if you're American) Stone?
129BuffaloPhil
Maybe not that easy! It was 713.
How about this one :
Which Hogwarts ghost was killed by the Basilisk?
How about this one :
Which Hogwarts ghost was killed by the Basilisk?
131BuffaloPhil
No, he killed himself.
133BuffaloPhil
Correct, all yours!
136foggidawn
>135 varielle: Good job. Your turn!
137varielle
A new mini-biography about a minor HP character has just been published by Rowling. Who is it and what was their vocation?
139foggidawn
Oh, thanks for reviving the thread. I'll keep it going with an answer: Celestina Warbeck the singer?
144varielle
When Voldemort was seeking info on the elder wand, who was the foreign wand maker he visited and how many people did he kill during that visit, according to Harry's vision?
146CeciRoyale7
Gregorovich was the wand maker. Don't know off hand how many people he killed though.
148CeciRoyale7
Also, I have a note about one of the answers given a while ago. Harry whispers "I'm READY to die," not "I'm about to die," when he whispers to the snitch to get it to open. I could be wrong, but I'm fairly certain.
149CeciRoyale7
Oh, and I think I have an answer for the Gregorovitch question. Voldemort killed a German woman and her two children as well as Gregorovitch himself, so the answer should be 4 (including Gregorovitch), right?
151CeciRoyale7
Name all horcruxes in order of discovery according to the books.
152CeciRoyale7
Hint: there are 7, two of them were people, and one was an accident.
153varielle
Prof Querrell
The book
The ring
The Locket
The cup
The diadem
The snake
and then Harry's noggin
The book
The ring
The Locket
The cup
The diadem
The snake
and then Harry's noggin
154CeciRoyale7
Very close. You have all of the objects correct, and technically both of the people as well, though there is a different person I was looking for that is discovered well before Quirrell. Also, you've got them in order of destruction. The order of discovery is slightly different. I don't mean when we discover them as a horcrux, just when we first see them in the series.
155CeciRoyale7
You're so close to the answer I'm looking for.
157CeciRoyale7
You don't have to look it up if you don't want to. Last hint: Harry is in the wrong place (he wasn't discovered last), and Quirrell isn't the second person. The rest are exactly right.
158CeciRoyale7
Does everyone give up? I'll give you all a bit more time, but then I'll have to give the answer so someone else can have a turn asking.
159CeciRoyale7
Ok here's the answer:
Harry Potter
Voldemort
Riddle's Diary
The Ring
The Locket
The Cup
The Diadem
Nagini the Snake
Ok someone else is free to have a go now.
Harry Potter
Voldemort
Riddle's Diary
The Ring
The Locket
The Cup
The Diadem
Nagini the Snake

160varielle
OK!
What notable creature located in the maze in Goblet of Fire was sadly missing from the movie version?
What notable creature located in the maze in Goblet of Fire was sadly missing from the movie version?
162BuffaloPhil
Is that the Sphinx? Can't remember if that was in the movie or not?
164BuffaloPhil
Who led the group of Snatchers that captured Harry, Ron and Hermione in Deathly Hallows?
(Note - the book and the film have different answers to this question - I want both names!)
(Note - the book and the film have different answers to this question - I want both names!)
165varielle
I think in the book it was Fenrir Grayback and in the movie it was Scabior played by the very handsome Nick Moran.
166BuffaloPhil
Bingo! Over to you, varielle.
167varielle
What was Kreacher making for dinner the day that Harry, Ron and Hermione didn't make it back from the Ministry?
170varielle
Oh tut tut! The ingredients make use of a certain type of organ meat. Something rarely seen stateside.
175foggidawn
Perhaps I should have specified "in the books," because you would be right if the question were pertaining to the movie. Want to guess again?
179varielle
After everyone was safe at home following the terrifying events of the Quidditch World Cup, what did Hermione give Mrs. Weasley to drink to calm her down?
183varielle
*hint #4 - the shot was the wizarding version of an alcoholic drink famously distilled in Scotland.
190varielle
*HINT - They initially turn up mid-way through the series, though they were certainly around the Ravenclaw common room.
195foggidawn
What is the name of Percy's owl? (Not the family owl, the one belonging specifically to Percy.)
200meghanas
Not quite! Maybe I should have specified--who DIRECTLY gave Katie Bell the cursed opal necklace in Book 6?
201mmarzipann
An Imperiused Madam Rosmerta, wasn't it?
203mmarzipann
Who were the last three masters of the Elder Wand? (I'm not talking about people who used it, i.e. Voldemort, but the actual masters...)
206mmarzipann
Correct! Apologies for the lateness... Looks like the next goes to meghanas!
210BuffaloPhil
It was bred in captivity, although the book doesn't specify where that was but the implication is that it was in the UK. The species was indigenous to Brazil though, if that's what you're after?
211meghanas
Yeah, that's what I meant! Just because the book talks about it being Brazilian a few times. Your turn now!
212BuffaloPhil
With which jinx did Hermione attack Ron in Half-Blood Prince?
213BuffaloPhil
Hint - It involved the creation and quick destruction of a flock of birds.
215BuffaloPhil
Very close, I'll give it to you. It's actually Oppugno but it could certainly be heard as Repugno.
217varielle
Oh come now, it gets mentioned more than a few times. Her middle name is the same as another major character.
219varielle
An easy one then, who used Harry's wand to make the dark mark at the quidditch world cup?
