Driving me crazy trying to find this book: it was a romance, Historical I think... I do not remember title or author ( I had thought it was Kathleen E Woodiwiss) But I cannot find it if it was. For some reason I do not recall... heroine is in Hero's mansion/ home, he is believed to be deceased. But he is just injured, His portrait hangs in the bedroom and he comes to the room at night pretending to be a ghost and appears to walk out of the portrait. They talk each night, he is trying to drive her out of his home, but she has no choice but to stay as she has been sent there almost as a prisoner or exile.

I'm looking for the title or author of a contemporary (British, I think) romance novel about an overweight woman who loves/idolizes someone (let's call him X) whom she has known for a while. X goes away somewhere before the book starts, and the heroine wants to lose weight and generally make herself over before he returns. The heroine meets another man (we'll call him Y) at a party near the beginning of the book, and I believe they start going out so that she can gain some experience in preparation for her reunion with X.

The heroine gets along well with Y and the book is mainly about their growing attachment and about the heroine's weight loss and weight/self esteem issues.

At some point, she goes to a wedding or something like that and gets to know some footballers' wives.

Also, she has a sister-in-law, who lives in the same house and is nasty to her.

As I vaguely recall, the cover had flower petals and a mouth on it, if that helps . . . :o/

Sorry, I think I initially posted this in the wrong place: I'm trying to find a series of books involving a black-haired catholic heroine marrying an autocratic hero. The setting is coastal, historical US. Their book involves the heroine having twins, a hurricane, and hiding on an island near the family plantation. I remember two other books in the series although I think that there were more. One of the twin daughters wants to join a convent, but the father is outraged and sends her to marry a distant relative in Brazil. She ends up married to an invalid and is involved with the invalid's brother. The other daughter marries someone from a nearby plantation but it's a bad marriage, the husband dies, and she falls in love with someone else.

Hello, everyone, I'm a newbie to this group and website but I've also been trying to find a romance novel I read when I was a teenager. I think it was published in the late 80's or early 90's. I don't remember either the title or author but somewhat the premise. I'm so sorry if it's sketchy but here goes: the book is a historical romance novel that takes place in either Oregon or Washington in the late 19th century. The hero is a lumber tycoon/lumbermill owner and the heroine might be either a teacher or down on her luck. She doesn't really like him at all. I've been looking everywhere for this book. I'm not sure if it's a past harlequin historical title, or an early Avon or Zebra historical book. If anybody knows this book please let me know. I'll also try to work on others' requests for info. I know what it's like to have that
crazed "obsessed" feeling. :)

Looking for a book I read sometime between 2000 and 2011, dont remember when exactly, I was at a library.
The book is historical fiction, set in medieval/renaissance time period in England.
Basic plot points that I remember:
~ Male child of noble birth raised by peasant family, thinks he is the son of the peasants
~ Peasants have a daughter who is raised with the noble child, no idea that they are not truly siblings
~ Children have a really close relationship but don't understand why
~ Boy finds out he is not the son of the peasants
~ Boy and girl realize that they love each other

Sorry, I know that is not much to go on but its a pretty distinctive plot so if someone has read it and can help me find it I would really appreciate it!!!

hello everyone! im new here, but i was hoping you all could maybe help me find any information about a book that has been driving me crazy! i read it within the last couple of years. all i can remember about it is that this woman meets a man who has severe burns on his face. he got these burn in a house fire that took his wife. during the book he meets and falls in love with a woman who looks exactly like his dead wife. i believe that it was written about the georgian era of the Ton. im thinking he was perhaps a viscount or something like that. i know its not very much information and i wish i could remember more of the book. thank you for reading this even if you dont know anything about the book.

I really hope you all can help me. :) I've been looking for this book for SO long! I don't remember much about it, but here's what I do know:

-The H wears a lot of black, and it seems like he's dark as well. (dark hair, etc) "Black" may even be in the title of the book
-The h has 2 sisters**the youngest of whom is raped (by the H's men (?))-I do know one of his men takes her and cares for her/nurses her back to health. She is really young-14 or so** This was a big part of the storyline
-I remember the h is not happy about her upcoming marriage to the H-so maybe he won the castle in a siege, etc. In fact no one at the castle is happy about the H's presence
-I think I remember the h has been running the castle by herself for a while now-though I may be getting that from another book. :) Seems like they're really poor/all of their supplies are gone.

I read this book 5-10 years ago.

I really hope someone can help! I know it's not a Harlequin, I also know it's not The Black Lyon book. (I seem to run across that book everytime I try to search for this book!)

Try Yankee Wife by Linda Lael Miller. The heroine was a nurse in the civil war and was a year later down on her luck. She answers an add for a wife and meets the man she thinks she will be marrying. Turns out to not be him, but his brother, whom she instantly dislikes.
Hope this helps, but I have seen quite a few books with a discription close to this. There are some websites that allow you to search by historical era or location.

Years ago I started reading this book and got interrupted and was never able to finish it. It's been driving me nuts through the years! I believe it was a Harlequin. The woman is a surgeon who was working too hard and (I believe) collapsed and was forced to take a vacation. She is staying in this house and the next door neighbor's dog comes over. She is mistaken for a teenager and is hired by her neighbor as a housekeeper or assistant? She pretends to be a teenager and the neighbor is conflicted because he is attracted to her.

i read the book around 10 years back. It was not a harlequin romance. The hero was an actor. He comes to the Heroine's grandmother's island to shoot a pirate film. The heroine works in the perfume industry. She calls her boss "Madame".Her sister lives on the island and makes glass designs. The heroine's grandmother dies in the end.There is a particular scene in the book in which the heroine names her new perfume "winterfire".Theres another scene in which the hero shoots for a new perfume ad in which he wears a lab coat.

I've been looking for a book I read years ago and thought someone may be able to help. It begins in contemporary time (although I think this book was published in the 80's or 90's). The H is an artist who meets the h at a restaurant one night, and tells her he bets she has dimples on her ass. She gets offended but decides to take him up on his offer to pose for a painting.

The h&H get married and h begins having visions of them from the revolutionary war and the civil war; their souls have been in love across time but was always doomed. She keeps having these visions, and the H in the other times was an officer in the military during the war, and the h was always on the opposite side.

In contemporary times, h tries using hypnosis to go back in the past and save H, but H (contemporary) ends up channeling the angry war General and no longer acts like himself.

That's all the details I can remember, but I would LOVE if someone has read this and could tell me what the title is!!

Hi, I'm looking for a historical romance book. All I remember about the book is that the heroine is a Viking and she thinks she's too tall/manly and she doesn't think she's pretty. She's captured by the hero and taken to his ship to sail to America and I think he chains her feet together, because he thinks she could hurt them. His crew mocks him during the journey, because she doesn't act like a captive at all. That's all I remember. If you could tell me the name of this book I'd be so happy. It's been bugging me for a really long time. I'm sorry if there's not enough detail. I read this book a long time ago.

Could please someone help me in finding a mills and boon novel of a greek tycoon arranged marriage with a girl who does charity works. The heroine loves the guy but he is not sure that his husband loves her. The marriage was arranged by heroine grandmother and hero grandfather. They are passionate in bed and married for 3 years. Then comes a lady who was hero ex lover and trying to create problems in there marriage but at last hero tells her wife that he loves her and he is not interested in anyone else.

So excited I found this site. I have been looking for a book that I read over ten years ago, but it was probably from the 80's. It's a historical romance about an orphaned woman who takes over her dads fishing boat and dresses like a man so she gets left alone. One day her boat capsizes and she is rescued by another ship, I think they are pirates but I am not 100% sure. They think she is a man at first but then somehow they realize she is a woman and then the crew is unhappy she is there, they keep calling her a Jonah and she was going to bring bad luck to them. They were getting followed by a pirate captain who was mad at the other captain for some reason and one day in port he sees the woman and tries to kidnap her or he does. I don't remember much after that. Hopefully someone can help me!!

Please help I want to read this book again but I cant remember the title or author.The story was about a woman who slept with this hunk rancher then while she was in the city she lost her memory and cant remember him. Here's the catch she's pregnant with his baby and has lots of money she either will or has inherited. I think she worked in a law office I remember some horrible man she couldn't believe she would even think about sleeping with trying to convince her the baby was his to get his hands on the money and I seem to remember the name Tucker for the Ranch hunk. Please help with the title of this book! I read it back in the 1980s but it was set in 1950s or 1960s England - gloves & hats. I believe it was one of a series and this one was about one of four English sisters and very funny. The story is told from the perspective of the sister who is getting married to an engineer and she is embarrassed to be thinking to herself that he has rescued her from a crazy life with her family. I remember that she and her mother rode the Tube under the Thames - which she found very exciting and her mother found terrifying. Before the wedding, the sisters and their mother go to some ritzy restaurant for tea but discover they have almost no money but the mother deals with the head waiter with honesty and class. One of the married sisters is wealthy and arranged it but never pays for anything. Once married, they take a honeymoon cruise to Australia where the husband has taken a job for a year or so. One of the bride's younger sisters is also on the ship relocating to Australia - either to work or live with another relative. She falls in love on the cruise with a friend/maybe coworker of the groom. The bride and the sister are sitting in deck chairs behind the husband and his friend and the bride observes her sister just gazing adoringly at the back of the guy's head. That's all I remember but always wanted to read the other books by this author - whoever she is. I remember the cover was solid red with the only the title on it.

Hi! Forgive me if I do this wrong, I am new at this. I read a book about a year or so ago (unfortunately, I cannot remember if it is one I got at the library or what). I cannot remember the title or author and can only remember a couple of scenes. I want to say it was in an anthology but I am not sure. Here Goes:

It starts off with the heroine sneaking into a guy's house to return something (or maybe retrieve something) as a favor to a friend. Her friend is the mistress of the guy who owns the house. She is caught by a different guy (hero) who is staying there (I believe he is the guy's brother or something) and I believe she convinces him that she is the mistress because he was drunk.

Next, she runs into him and is introduced to him at a party. He recognizes her and she recognizes him and they end up in a discussion and kissing in a dark room. I believe she is single due to the death of her husband or maybe fiancé. She is daring and willful.

It is driving me crazy, so any help I would HIGHLY appreciate it. I have been trying to figure out this book for over a year now. Thanks!

I did read a M&B novel where the hero comes back after ages to the city he grew up in. He is now a famous businessman. He came to buy a product. The heroine also wants to buy that product. She is known as a ruthless CEO and her career depends on that product. The hero is the heroine's sister's friend. They meet at the sister's engagement. When the hero was here he used to be a rouge. The heroine always had a crush on him. So when she was in college she created such a situation that they had to spend the night in a hut and she had previously planned that she'll lose her virginity to him. Later like always the hero plans not to call her but when she doesn't call he does. He calls for a week she never picks up. He thinks she ditched him because he is poor and she doesn't pick up because she knows he'll break her heart This thought drives him to the top. I can't remember the name but it's kind of bugging me right now. Thanks.

I read this book years ago it was about a French heroine she's living in France and she happens to meet the hero by chance they spend a night together and she finds out that she is pregnant. The hero has already left at this point (I think he was in the military? He was British though. ) Her father finds out and sends her to a convent where she gives birth to a daughter that she names Emma. A few years pass and she somehow ends up in England and becomes the governess? nanny? to her daughter. The hero had thought that she abandoned their child this whole time so he hates the heroine for her actions but they end up making up by the end of the book...

I think she might be blind??? I clearly remember that she was a French aristocrat though but she becomes broke after the French revolution. I really really hope someone recognizes this book I am almost convinced that I've just imagined the whole thing

Unknown title and author. Book published before 2001. I believe it was set in Scotland.

High points:
- the h was in a marriage arranged by her brother/step-brother for the perks.
-she was abused because she couldn't conceive (pretty sure she wasn't her husband type;think he was gay)
-I think her father-in-law killed the husband because he couldn't "do his duty". He may have plotted with her brother to sleep with her in order to get he pregnant and pass the child off as his son's.
-she escaped some kind of way and ended up with a highlander; who had an Irish companion that couldve been named Paddy (not 100% sure)
-they fell in love; evil brother kidnapped her and got himself killed
-in the epilogue she had given birth to twins and Robert the Bruce (I think) became the twins God-father.

If anyone could help, I'd greatly appreciate it. This has been a 10+ year search

Another one set in Scotland. The only thing that I can remember is that it runs into Christmas. The h is at her birth father's house for the first time.

sooo, down to business, I read a book maybe 5 years ago, but it was bought from a car boot sale, so i have no idea when it was published etc. Also, i dont remember anything about it really other than begging.
Man and woman get married ( i cant remember how it came about - it was arranged ) and the girl doesn't know anything about sex, other than what she had seen in her farm(?) so when the enter the bedchamber to consumate the marriage, she climbs onto the bed on all fours ( her father / uncle is waiting outside until they have done it ) and her husband is a tad confused. I do remember her thinking that his willy looked more like a babies arm than a mushroom ( a maid or someone told her this ) ... I haven't described it very well, but this book is one of the funniest historical romance books i have read, and would love to read it again!

I read a historical romance in the 1980's which I know I loved but have barely any memory of!

The only clear memory I have is of the beginning: a girl is being hunted down by two men, in a forest, who have intentions of raping her. I think she ends up hiding in a tree trunk?

The girl has red hair (and green eyes??) and her name is something like Elyse.

I feel like she's been living with a nasty old uncle or something due to the death of her parents.

Ok, I'm driving myself insane and asking all of you for help please!
The plot: Woman marries a man out west in the 1890's - 1920's. She grows up on the East cost and marries a man whom owns a ranch in Utah or Nevada. She travels by train and is from money. She arrives in her hoop skirt but is quickly told by her husband to wear pants. She had trouble adjusting to this new life where she rides horses and wears pants instead of being the lady she should be. She then learns how to garden in the dry west part of the country. After months of ranching with her husband. Her husband eventually falls ill from a sickness going on there. She tells her native american neighbor that she'll watch over the baby to ensure that he does not get the sickness his mother has. She kidnaps him. She then flees to PA and then to Europe. The baby's father spends many years searching for his kidnapped son. The woman meets a man in Europe and leaves the baby she is hiding in the attic by the lake on their property. The baby is then found by neighbors who are gypsies. The gypsies then raise the baby. The woman has two more children, both girls who are friends with this kidnapped little boy. After the mom dies, the girls start unraveling what happened. One of the woman's children and the kidnapped boy (now a man start a relationship) What is this book, I'm loosing my mind?! I've been trying to think of the title and author of this book for months. I've gone through lists of books by authors I usually read but can't figure it out.
The book was 4 stories in one. It was based around two sets of sisters that are cousins. Each story is for each sister. The first story starts with one set of sisters coming west to live after the civil war. The older sister's husband died in the war. The late husbands best friend comes to live with them and of course the two fall in love and marry.
The second story has the cousins, another set of sisters coming to live with them. The older sister of this set ends up falling for the sheriff and they marry.
The next story is the younger sister of the first set of sisters. She marries the rich guy in town after she lost a bet to him in a horse race. This guy was originally interested in the older cousin, but he was only interested in him because of his money.
The last story is about the last sister. Her name was Meg I think but I can't remember what her story was.
If anyone can please help me. It's driving me crazy.

I can't remember this title, or author!

Published late 80s, early 90s.

Setting: Scotland, 1740s, the year leading to the second Jacobite rebellion, and right after. Marriage of Convenience between (I think) a Campbell woman and a rebellious highland clan. The eldest daughter was to marry the man, but she fainted at the alter, so the younger daughter married him. The man she married was the only remaining son on the clan laird, who was a scarred, womanizing, jerkface. The woman stood out for being practical and smart; before marrying she demanded concessions like having soldiers periodically check on her to make she is ok. This has ramifications later because the English officer who checks on her becomes a friend, and she uses him to save her husband.

The woman ended up in the highlands at the castle, made friends with the old cook and her young maid, but lived separate from her husband (who was sleeping with his father's redheaded mistress, Fiona?) Eventually, they go to a highland wedding, the husband gets sucked into Bonnie Prince Charles' rebellion, and the wife returns to her father's estate. At that wedding the h beloved cousin is killed by the H's father.

Eventually the rebellion fails, the wife finds the husband, her father captures him, he is sentenced to hang, and she uses Rob Roy (I think?) to break him out of jail. They sail to America.

Not a lot of sex, and a lot of historical detail, in the book. There are a lot of secondary plot points. I honestly remember almost everything except the name and title.

Cover, I think, was a castle in the distance, blue sky, green hills.

I'm looking for a book that I do not know the title or author to. I know it was published before 1994. The heroine travels to the Yukon, I think looking for her father I believe. He works in the gold fields in Dawson City. If I'm not mistaken she ends up marrying his younger partner or something like that. His name is Logan not sure if its his first or last name, It might have been O'shea or that could have been the girls last name. I think she also ended up leaving him and going back down to Dawson. There was also I think a Mountie that was vaing for her affections as well. I just remember his name being Logan. I have been looking for this book forever and have been trying to locate it with no such luck.

Maybe Johanna Lindsey, Love Me Forever? They end up in Scotland, at her birth father's.

Jude Deveraux, Velvet Angel, maybe? It doesn't sound perfect, but the kidnapped h helps heal the H's little sister who was raped by h's stepbrother or something. Part of a series, though.

I have being trying to rememeber the name of a book.
The basic synopsis is that a florist is dropping off flowers at her brother and his new wife's house only to find her sister in law flirting with a man. The man wants revenge on the family because of something her father did so he decides to break up the marriage. The sister in law is young, bored, her husband is always away and she is feeling neglected. No doubt she would be easily seduced. To protect or brothers marriage she suggests the man use her for revenge instead. He agrees and says they should get married.
The woman is in a relationship with a man and breaks it off to marry the virtual stranger.
They get married, with the women wearing jeans to her wedding. After the wedding the groom finds out that the father disaproves of the daughter and it is no big deal that he married her.
They all in love etc etc with him building her a greenhouse and buying her a car (I think there was a line in there, like "you're the typre of man who'd by his child a train set and then end up playing with it yourself. aren't you). I think there was something in there about her always wearing clothes with flowers on them.
The sister in law gets jealous.
There is a jealous scene where the groom thinks his new wife is getting lunch with an ex.
There is a happy resolution.
It is a contemporary novel written in the last 20-25 years, it may have been a country setting, I think there was a mention of a cowboy hat.

Hello I'm looking for a book that I read years ago. I'm pretty sure that it was written in the 80s or early 90s. It's a Regency romance book.
It's a bout a young redheaded girl who becomes the ward of an English Lord. I think he's of Spanish or Italian descent. He hates that he is attracted to her because he's older than her. He hates that she has beautiful red hair and makes her wear hats anytime she's outdoors. She's very feisty and sometimes immature because of her age. I think someone tries to kidnap her. But he thinks that she ran away and when he finds her it's pouring down rain they make love and he doesn't realize, because of the rain and all her skirts, that she's bleeding to death because she's been cut on her leg. She gets pregnant, they get married, and she has a baby boy. I can't remember why but she ends up leaving him and he doesn't know where she's at. When he finds her she's a governess, they get back together. She leaves him again this time for his best friend and she's pregnant. He finds out where she's at and kidnaps her. She ends up giving birth to their little girl on the ship. And after that I really can't remember anything else.

Hi! I'm so glad I have found this site. I have found many books to add to my "to read" list. ;) So, down to business. I have read a book some years back. This is what I remember about it.

1. The hero is a cowboy -in texas, perhaps?- and he has a mischievous son. The son had interfered with mail (even then -I think it was the late 1850s, but don't hold me to it- it was a crime and the boy (roughly aged 8) has admitted to it. If I remember correctly, he said the that he liked the picture the heroine of the story sent; his father had no idea of it.

2. The heroine is a woman with a small boy. He is approximately the same age as the hero's son. The boys don't get along at first, but as the story unfolds they practicaly become inseparable. The hero's son admits near the end of the story that he was jealous of the other boy because the heroine's son had a mother who wanted to protect him. See, the story begins in front of store -feed store, maybe- and if I remembert it right, the woman was concerned about her son getting her.

3. The heroine is from Ireland and is on the run. The man, and later his family, accused her of kindapping to separate her from her son. And she saw the ad for a teacher as a chance for escape as far west as possible. The offer I think included the room and board. Anyway, the matter came before a judge and that is how our heroine came to live on the ranch and became a teacher to his son.

I am desperately trying to find a book I believe I read in the mid to late 90s not totally sure. It would most likely be Harlequin or Silhouette. It is about a man who is after the person who killed his wife and twin daughters in a car bombing. He crosses paths with a lady who I believe is on vacation and she finds an injured stray dog and she needs the man’s help with the dog and they end up having a one night stand and both go their separate ways after the night spent together. Then a few months later she discovered she is pregnant. She has three identical triplet boys and she tries to find the man she spend the night with but with no luck. Then she runs into to him like three or four years later. I think at this point the triplet boys are around three years old and he then protects her and his sons because the man she had been dating for the last six months is the one who initially killed his wife and twin daughters. I think the triplets names were Ryan, Sean and unsure of the other one. It seemed like the hero (the triplet’s father) name was something that started with an M like Malone or Murphy or something like that. If anyone one remembers this I would greatly appreciate it. I loved this book and would love to read it again.

I mostly remember scenes ant he plot and I think it was a Harlequin. But it was about a guy, who used to be a surfer I think and now he works for or owns a magazine and is doing a photo shoot of the new swim line. Back when he was still surfing he met a girl had an amazing night with her but was so drunk he only remembers the tattoo on her back and not her face.
She owns a shop now that sells organic fiber (?) swimsuits and only wears really baggy cloths. Very hippy. I remember the part where she, I think, bets him that her swimsuits are better and she can make the models look better in the shoot than he can. He makes her wear one of her own suits and realizes that she is the one he was looking for and when he asks why she never said anything she tells him that she already knows who he is.

I read this 4 or 5 years ago and think it was a fairly recent publication. It's historical European, maybe early 1800s. The hero is in London with friends. He dies (accident or duel, I can’t recall) and his friends take him home to be buried. His wife is there. I can’t recall if the friends knew he was married or not. It was a marriage of convenience, and they had never lived together. She was struggling to hold the estate together. As they are placing him in the mausoleum, he makes a noise and the wife discovers he’s alive! She nurses him and they fall in love. The villain ends up trapping them in the same mausoleum, but they escape and live HEA. Anyone? Help? Author or title? Please?

What I remember is that she has been betrothed already. she has a twin sister, and she's the defiant, loud and tomboyish one. She's really good with her bow and arrow.

When the hero meets her to marry her, she's being attacked at her house in the woods as he meets her. But he thinks she's a boy & sees her beautiful & docile sister & believes that's his wife to be.

She believes she's in love with a friend she's known since childhood. But she starts to be really attracted to her hero.

& I remember a "scene" where they dally around in his parents bedroom and is caught by his dad.

She freaks out of how attracted she's becoming of him so she convinces her twin sister to say that she's feeling ill in her bedroom and she escapes in either a rug or trunk ( I vaguely remember) and then goes on horse back to her childhood friends house.

Without realizing that's she's being followed and she's the one who's been the target this whole time.

In the end the hero looks for her & more stuff happens but that's all I remember!

Hi, I've been looking for a particular historical romance for weeks now. I read it at least 6 or 7 years ago, maybe more. It is similar to 'Flowers from the Storm' by Laura Kinsale in that the Hero is struck down by something that makes everyone believe he has become an imbecile. I think he might be a Duke or an Earl?

It is set in England maybe regency or just before. The Heroine is the Vicar's daughter or similar and is summoned to the house by the Dowager/Grandmother and made an offer to marry the Hero to produce an heir since he's the last of the line. There is something about all the other family members dying or being killed by the French? because it's a powerful family.

The hero is not sent to an asylum, He is married off to the heroine and the Dowager/grandmother does her best to make the world believe everything is ok.

I'd be most grateful if anyone knows what this book is.

Hey. I'm new to librarything and I'm really hoping someone will recognize a book from a very brief description because I can't remember more than the basics of the plot really. Years ago I read a romantic mystery about a cold, cruel twin who convinces her twin sister to take her place. The cold, cruel twin is in a very unhappy marriage and has a daughter (who she doesn't seem to care about at all). The nice twin goes along with her plan for some reason and falls for the husband and the little girl. The husband at first is baffled by her new, kind behavior because he was used to her gold digging, heartless twin (and unaware she had a twin). Eventually he starts to fall for the new twin (still thinking its his wife).
Sorry, that's all I can remember. I know its not very specific. If you can think of any plots that fit, please let me know!

I don't remember the name or the author, but I remember that its about a woman who walks in on her husband and he's having a threesome with his secretary and another man. She feels horrible because he was horrible to her and made her feel horrible about herself(I think he called her fat, etc.), so she has self esteem issues.

Hello. I’m new to this and actually posted in the wrong place first. Think I’ve got it right this time.

I’m looking for three books, actually. The first I do believe is a Harlequin or Silhouette. It’s an historical romance based in London, maybe in the Regency period. The heroine arrives from the country to net a husband. She has her old nanny and a younger sister who is very beautiful, but has intellectual disabilities. At some point, someone tries to kidnap her sister. The heroine eventually gets married to a reformed rake who is ashamed of his past.

The second book is actually the first part of a trilogy. It was also an historical set in England. All I remember is that there were three sisters who somehow became separated and they belonged to a theatrical family.

The third is more recent and is the first of a trilogy of three sisters. Also an historical, the sisters are fashionistas and set up their shop in London. This story is about the oldest sister (who has a daughter). She ends up dressing the fiancée of the love interest. There is a fire started by a rival that burns down their shop and they move into the love interests home.

There is a part in the book where the guy and the girl in the book is at a cabin/ wood shack. The girl went to the river/ hot spring near the cabin and the guy tells her that the water have fishes(red fishes?) that bite. But she went nevertheless, but ultimately she came up and went back to the shack where they made love.

There was another scene where she felt someone staring at her from the woods.

Unsure if only the male is a detective/ cop or both are.

1. Is the heroine goes to Dawson city then to the goldfields to locate her father Hero's name is Logan I believe. She ends up marrying him and they leave to go to his claim by dog sled.

2 takes place out west. is heroine is in love with a man but hes married. She still ends up sleeping with him and gets pregnant. She then ends up being employed by the hero's wife who is also pregnant, making her dresses. and ends up in their household waiting on the woman as well. The wife discovers the other woman is pregnant and does not know its her husbands and shames the woman. I read some posts from the previous thread and I recognized a couple books that I'm also looking for (I think...). Can't remember the author, much less the title or the characters names.

The 1st was posted in #21:'...It is set in England near the Thames. In the beginning the heroine is a highwayman dressed as a boy and is in charge of a group of orphaned boys. She tries to rob a nobleman and he captures her and takes her to his home to be punished. When they go to spank her they figure out she is a she and he decides to keep her and train her to be a lady.
In the end she ends up being or looking like someone important that they were looking for all along.
Some other random things: I think she had her first "tub" bath and compared it to bathing in the Thames. I also remember her walking on the servant/valet's back that had given him severe pain for years and fixing it. I believe she had long red hair. I think the age difference was about 12-15 years between h/h...'

Although I don't remember exactly like that (probably it's a different one and I'm making a big mix). During regency time in London, somehow the heroine is passing as a servant boy in the hero house, (I think that she tried to rob him, but the hero was sorry and gave her a job instead) and then the hero (some lord) starts to have feelings for the 'boy', when he finds it's a girls instead, he makes her his mistress and in the end eventually they get married. I think that she also was someone important who was kidnapped and got amnesic. (I'm starting to feel that I'm mixing 2 stories....)

The 2nd was posted in #176: '...is about the hero marrying a pickpocket off the streets of london just to get back at his father and then dumps her there. I think he was drunk or something and she tries to rob him and his friend and he catches her and forces her to marry her. Shes actually suppose to be an aristrocat who got kidnapped when she was young. I remember then the heros father teaching her how to be a lady and then launching her into society and shes all beautiful and witty and successful. The hero falls for her without realising shes his wife and i remember how she kept visiting the streets to feed some orphans or something and the hero meets her there again asking for a divorce or something along the lines...'

I am looking for a futuristic romance from the 80's or 90's. A female pilot or law enforcer of some type crashes on a prison planet. The decedents of the original prisoners are living there and have formed a somewhat barbarian like society (swords, etc). She and the hero fall in love and eventually leave the planet. There is some political strife, as the decedents of the original prisoners were being kept on the planet even though they hadn't done anything. I can't really remember the details. The heroine had a vine tattoo that wrapped from her foot, around her leg, across her back, to "bloom" on her chest. I think she had red hair.

I kept thinking this book was by Elizabeth Lowell or someone mainstream but I can't find it anywhere.

I do not have a lot of information but it starts in London. This woman who is living with her aunt and uncle is sent to live with the aunts brother. The aunts brother makes advances towards the woman. She tries to escape and the brother is killed in the fray. She runs from the house and is snatched up and taken to a ship captain because she is mistaken for a prostitute. After that night she goes back home to her aunts and uncles she ends up being pregnant and they make the captain take her with him as he was leaving to America after they collected money from him. He thinks he was tricked and makes it hard for the woman. She becomes very ill on the ride to America. He lived on a plantation of sorts with a woman neighbor he was intimate with. The neighbor is very jealous of his wife ( they were married in a quick ceremony before they left london) the thought of the murder of her aunts brother follows her and she believes she is at fault. I think there was another character that was rhe brothers accomplice he was a creepy, slight kind of man.

I have been looking for a specific romantic book for ages. I came across this site today and thought I would give it a try.
Here´s what I remember from the book:
- Hero is rich and if I remember correctly a former member of the military. I think he has nightmares and the girl tries to help him with that.
- Heroine likes to cook and would like to open her own restaurant
- they somehow meet and hero is giving heroine a ride to somewhere

Hello everyone! I came across this site today and hope someone can help me. I read a book in the late 90s/early 2000s that I can't remember the title or author for. Here's what I remember:

The heroine is from France, an orphan, goes to love with her uncle(?)'s family. Her cousin is an heiress.

The hero is poor nobility and must marry for money. He visits the uncle's estate with his two friends to court the cousin.

The h&h have an affair. She gets pregnant. Leaves. One of the hero's friends helps set her up with a shop in London where she resells dresses.

Hi all! I'm glad I found this thread. I'm new to posts like these so bare with me. I've been trying to find the name of this book for a long time now and it's driving me crazy. Please help me.

I don't remember much of the plot of the story or the names of the characters 'coz I read this book a while back. What I do remember though is that this book is kinda on the adult romance genre.

The story starts where a beautiful virgin young woman (daughter of a man of power - probably a politician) gets raped by a fat, short and old diplomat (not really sure if he's a diplomat but he scares the girl by saying she can't tell anyone 'coz he has immunity in that country). After being raped she is kidnapped by the same diplomat but she gets saved by a man (love interest #1) but then she gets caught again by the diplomat and after some time saved by another man (love interest #2). Somehow all three of them (the woman, love interest #1 and #2) got stranded in a forest/island. She then gets abducted by tribal people and she was deemed to be "the one" (deity or something maiden or sun goddess) because of her beauty. Then it gets downright steamy when the tribal leader tells her that she needs to undergo a ritual (I think it was a ritual to release her power) wherein she gets fucked by the tribal leader but does not bring her to orgasm (I think for 10 days or probably longer 'coz she gets super horny at the ritual ceremony) until the ceremony where everyone in the tribe fights/kills one another to prove that they are the strongest and gets the woman as the prize. Love interests #1 and #2 joins this ritual and #2 wins and they escape from the tribal people. Going back to civilization she gets confronted by the two love interests to choose between them who she loves most. She chooses love interest #1 but near the end she realizes, she loves love interest #2 more so she leaves #1 for #2 and they live happily ever after. hahaha. I forgot most of the scenes and it was a thick book so there were a lot of scenes I forgot I wanna read them again but I just can't remember details that will lead me to the book. I don't know if what I read was already an omnibus or just a very long novel. Any ideas??

Hi all! New to this, but hopefully someone can help! I've tried searching for this book, but Google is failing me.

It's a regency romance novel. She marries a duke/earl/other title, in an arranged/loveless marriage (at first). He takes her to his country home, and she gets along with his staff. Possibly something about her organizing his library. She gets pregnant, but hides it from him. He takes her back to London, and she continues to hide the pregnancy from him (she's miserable in the carriage ride to town) -- I think because she's trying to be the perfect ton wife. Her morning sickness gets so bad that she avoids callers; and then she's still so tired in the afternoon, that she cleverly avoids social calls and stays home to be well enough to go out for evening events (tells Lady A that she'll be at Lady B's musical, tells Lady B she'll be elsewhere, etc.). When her husband realizes that he is in love with her, he tries to track her down in the afternoon, going from point A to B to C, etc. (being told she's somewhere else at each one), until he finally finds her at home and sick over a chamber pot (if I remember correctly). They both profess their love, he takes her back to the country, and everything ends well.

Hi guys I'm new here! I need help finding this book. I of course can't remember the name of the book or author or even character names but heres what I do remember: The woman moves in with the cowboy, I think she works at a theater, or maybe she's a mail order bride, but the cowboy pretends to be his twin brother throughout the story, who she eventually falls in love with. I remember there was an Indian couple living in the back yard and she helps the woman give birth. Also, at the end of the book is when she finds out that the guy has been playing as his rough and tough twin brother. If theres any way you can help me it would be much appreciated!!!

Medieval setting, published in late 90's or early 2000's (I think)--Two or three related books--one has a heroine named Judith, she marries beneath her somewhat, to a fairly impoverished noble family. Her husband had mistresses he called by days of the week and she burned up their bed so he knew she wouldn't put up with it. The family's name had falcon in it, I think. Another related one (same author, some shared characters) was about the impoverished knight's little sister, named Zerah or something similar, who had always dressed as a boy and learned to fight like a knight. She is bested in a fight or something, and the other knight knows at once she is a woman though no one else, even her sister in law from the other book, don't know.

I hope someone knows these! This is so amazing, how some people know all of them! I had actually accidentally posted in another thread, and someone answered anyway, people are nice :)

Its a fairly recent book I believe. Contemporary.

The h is best friends with the H’s sister. I believe the H’s family lives and works on a successful ranch, making them a wealthy family. This economic divide comes into play since the h is not well off, making it a ‘girl-from-the-wrong-side-of-the-tracks’ scenario. But she has a big heart and is going to school to become a teacher.

The best friend and sister is pretty spoiled and desperately in love with a scumbag who routinely makes passes at h even though she’s in love with H. At this point they are still ‘feeling things out,’ with a lot of sexual tension and foreplay. Things come to head when the sister gets sick. The h and the sister’s cheating bf look after her while she’s sick, creating a scenario in which the sister believes that her bf and the h have had sex. The real story is that the bf tried to have sex with the h, fed up with the spoiled nature of the sister, believing that the kind and sweet nature of the h was more his speed, but she denied him. The bf goes off in a rage and promptly breaks up with the sister, spouting about how much better a person the h is than her, alluding that they had had sex.

The sister runs to her brother, the H telling him how awful her friend, the h, is for sleeping with her bf. He tells her off, yelling about how they took her in and were kind to her, all the while she was a cheating backstabber, etc. Realizing that she had just been kidding herself and would never be good enough for the H, she leaves for a teaching job (in Texas?). Things quickly fall apart between the H and his sister, especially as she realizes that the was probably wrong and took her anger out on the wrong person. The sister grows up and decides to become a nurse. Meanwhile the h is teaching in Texas where she is stabbed accidentally by a street kid when she gets in the middle of a fight. The H and the sister fly to her aide and bring her back to the ranch against her will.

During her recuperation thats when the h and the H make up.

I love this story and hope someone could help me find the author/title!

I read a book as a teenager (it might have been either a young adult or a general romance book) about a girl who goes out west dressed as a boy. Unfortunately, I don't remember many details from it -- I think it had a mostly white cover with drawn characters in brown tones. It was probably from the early 1990s, although it could have been the late 1980s as well. It might have been a series book (Harlequin, or something similar).

The girl is traveling with a group, and she of course likes one of the guys, who might have been the guide (possibly on the Oregon Trail). He only realizes she is a girl when he's helping her up some obstacle, like a hill, and his arm grazes her chest.

I read the beginning at the library as a kid and never finished it, but it stuck with me, as you can see! Thanks for any leads.

I'm struggling to find the name of this book..It's a Mills & Boon or Harlequin..This guy had an operation during which he tied his tubes ergo he can't have children. when his mistress/girlfriend gets pregnant he throws her out onto the streets. Then he enters a shop one day, a few years later and happens to look at her screensaver and find an image of a child that looks almost alike to him ( when he was a child)...the rest of the details are hazy. Look for the name and author of a romance i read over 10 years ago and it was an older book then, i'm thinking 1975-1995. Romance story that the woman of the book was a reporter and while trying to get an interview with someone she gets bitten by a dog. The man she loves in the book is a friend or many years and he is some type of agent(FBI, CIA, etc). He has a baby left at his door. I read this in the 80s. It was part of a "Historical" series like Harlequin. the h is a rich woman in London who has a frigid reputation. Some of the "men" get together to see if someone can get her to say yes to a marriage proposal. There is a broke Scotish Laird in town who is trying to arrange money to help his clan.

One night she is going back home from a dinner and her carriage is attacked and he protects her.

She finds out about the bet and tries to leave him, but he says the bet was for him to ask he didn't have to break it. So they get married.

He takes over the finances for the two of them. Something happens on her estate but I can't remember what. At their first dinner party she has the bagpipes pipe the guests into dinner but it is not appreciated by the guests.

She has scars on her back from where her father would use a whip on her.

Eventually she is pregnant and they decide to move the entire clan to Canada because she wants the baby to be born in their new home.

I can't remember the reason why the hero and heroine got married, all i remember is that the heroine left the hero to live somewhere near a beach. the hero then went to her to ask her for a divorce but sees her playing by the beach and she's happy. So, the hero decides to get to know her again. When they meet (not sure if at the beach or a restaurant at the beach) they pretend they don't know each other and that they are meeting for the first time, they get along well and have a relationship.

The book I'm looking for was possibly published in the 1980's - 1990's. It was set in England if memory serves me correctly, 17th or 18th century?, where the hero (I can't for the life of me remember character names) mistakes the heroine for his estranged wife (possibly ex wife). The heroine bares a striking resemblance to the estranged 'wife'. He assaults the heroine as he spots her near his home or possible on his estate (thinking she's the estranged wife) wanting to punish her for leaving him and his young son but is horrified when he realises that the heroine was telling the truth and is an innocent. The heroine also has a slight limp, an injury she suffered when she was a child and I think walks with a cane. After attacking her he takes her to his home and to tries to redeem himself in her eyes (not sure if he is titled, I'm assuming he is) and she meets his son.

Medieval romance, kinda cheesy. Redhaired maiden given away to be wed as part of kings orders. Gets sent away to filthy castle run by awful lord. he has many concubines one for each day of the week. I remember one chapter she goes out on a horse and goes swimming in a lake/pond. He finds her and starts to fall in love with her. I believe the book went back and forth between his pov and hers. she starts to make chnages to the castle for the better and he stops sleeping with his women.

Okay I'm looking for a book from Harlequin Romance its Like a Special Romance Edition or Something where the heroine is a woman football coach who has been hired to coach a high school football team but the man that wanted the position is angered but they end up assisting each other. Hi everyone. I am looking for a book which I read a few years ago; a historical romance. I am almost sure that the book was a prequel to other books. The heroine in this book was a vicar's daughter who met a titled man at an event which she attended with chaperones and a suitor. She and the man had sex the first time they met at the event and she later found out that the man was supposed to be betrothed to her friend. She snuck away another time to meet up with him. I think her sister ended up getting married to his brother or friend in a sequel.

#141 - I found my book! It was "With this Ring" by Mary Wibberley. I used the search on vintageromances and found it. :)

I do not remember much, I read it about ten or so years ago. It is set in the U.S. during the time of women's rights and abolition. The woman never wore corsets, was for women's rights, had a husband (who hired his friend to represent him), she was made out to have been unfaithful towards her husband and was divorced. I do not remember why it came about but the husband's friend, who was a lawyer met her after a few years, he knew what the husband was like but still represented him. Something happened in the book were they got together to investigate or fix a problem, I am not sure, but there was a plot outside of their love life.

6. i remember a scene where heroine is trying to understand/know the company/business. She tries to assembe a tent(a product of the company) using the instructions but can't because she said it lacks visuals or something like that.

Heroine was a gardener/landscaper. Single mom w/several teens. Hero had bought large house in the area, I think. Typical remote, alpha type. He had a hot young assistant/girlfriend.

Takes place in Civil War era. A white woman is mistaken as a slave because she has black hair. I think there is some sort of accident where she can't remember anything but her name, Jo/Joleen/Jolene.

The novel was set originally in London, not sure exact time frame but I would say 1800s. The heroine was redheaded I think, and very slim, like, not curvy at all. She was from a plantation island in the Caribbean and her father ran the plantation, I think he dies and she is sent to London to live with someone, maybe a distant old cousin or aunt. The aunt wants her to hook up with her nephew, very distant relations. The heroine can't take control of her plantation without a husband, in her father's will I think. She hates London, doesn't fit in, isn't 'girly' enough and is always cold, hating the climate. The 'hero' has some issues of his own, and for some reason agrees to marry her and go back with her, but he is super pissy about it.

He is a jerk, he verbally abuses her and when she is almost raped by a crew member on the ship back to the island, he rescues her but then blames her for it as she is so manly she spends time in pants on the boat and such.

Eventually, they make it to the island, there is big struggle there as the plantation has issues. I think there is a neighboring plantation owner, a woman who is competition and i think the 'hero' has an affair with her even. There is also an evil pirate in the mix, who eventually kidnaps the hero just as the couple are starting to get along. The pirate is Hispanic and has an African concubine, I vividly remember a scene where they are making love and then he gives her a ruby and diamond necklace. Pretty sure the heroine eventually actually rescues him.

This was definitely published BEFORE 2000....possibly significantly before that. It was my mother's book and I read it when I was fairly young (way to mess with a girl's head at a young age, but I digress), I am thinking I read it mid 90s....

So I really need some help finding a book that my friend was telling me about.
So the heroine is the ruler/leader of this kingdom where all the men are basically gone. So she ended up taking charge. They are attacked by an army, Saxon I think, and the army offers to have a duel between their leader and someone from the kingdom, to avoid unnecessary bloodshed. So the heroine dresses as a knight and goes out to fight him.
The army laughs because she is so small, but they don't realize she is a woman. So they fight and he wins, naturally, but during or after the fight her helmet is knocked off and they realize she's a woman.
So they take over the kingdom and he makes her his servant but she hates him. And she hides everynight somewhere that only she knows or something.
If you have any ideas that would be great!!

Took place in Civil War in the south. She finds a Union solider in her barn/shed/etc and nurses him back to health. I know there is more to it but that much I can remember.

can you please help me? i remember reading this amazing romance book, it was historical. a lady lives with her family in a castle and this neighboring gentleman comes to visit and they fall in love. Hello..I have been looking for this book for some time now..I read it a few years ago and really liked it and recently have been thinking of it but i have forgotten the title so pleaze help!! The novel is about a cowboy whose mother tries to get him married but he falls for his pregnant housekeeper who comes to work for him after leaving her last job as a teacher. The guy confuses the housekeeper with one of the maybe wives his mother has picked out for him but later realises she's the housekeepr he/his mother hired to clean and take care of his house in preparation for his future wife. He ends up falling for her in the end.

Looking for a book Historical Romance that I read in the late 80's or early 90's.

The first thing I remember about the start of the book is a young woman is brought aboard a ship by her Uncle, she is disguised as a young boy and works as a cabin boy. The ship is sailing from England through the Caribbean to New Orleans. She has long thick brown/red hair that she keeps hidden under a hat to make her look like a boy.

The ship is attacked by pirates, the Uncle is killed, and the young woman is unconscious. The ship doctor tends to her, discovers she's a woman, the Captain orders her put in his cabin. She is assigned to help the cook. She makes stew and ends up putting rancid meat in it and makes half the ship sick. There is an another attack on the ship by pirates and the captain is shot in the shoulder. The surgeon is going to cut off his arm because he can't get the bullet out with his tools. The young woman stops him and uses her fingers to reach in the wound to remove the bullet and save him and his arm. She stays with him in his cabin and nurses him back to health. Half naked and healing in bed their relationship gets steamy.

They make it to New Orleans where the Captain takes the young woman to his Grandmother's house. A very respectable woman in high society in the French Quarter. She takes care of the young woman, treats her like family, gets her a wardrobe of wonderful designer dresses, and introduces her to society with the thought of getting her married.

At some point in the story something happens and I think the girl is kidnapped by pirates. The Captain and his first mate and crew find her at the Pirates strong hold. Some how the young woman is reunited with her mother while with the Pirates. During the rescue the mother and the first mate realise they are long lost lovers and the young woman is their child. Parental concern takes over and the mother and the first mate forbid the young woman and the captain from having a physical relationship until they are married. The captain throws it back at them that they can't have one either until they're married.

They get back to New Orleans and get married. The captain says a typical honeymoon is to lock the newlyweds in a room for a week, but they instead go to a cabin on the beach. He had already designed and installed a sudo shower so they wouldn't have to take baths and deal with sand. They sunbathe naked and enjoy each other before returning back to New Orleans.

That's all I remember. It's one of the first romance books I ever read and would like to read it again if I can find it.

I'm hoping someone here can help me. There is a book I read pre 2006. For the life of me, I can't remember what it was or who by.

What I remember is a woman ends up back in time (might have gone as a vacation, but that may have been from another book). She ends up medieval times. She winds up married to a man (some kind of high station like laird earl Duke ect). The man had been married before. His first wife had killed herself and he walks in on his current wife shaving her underarms and thinks she is trying to kill herself too but cutting herself there.

Well, that's all I can remember. I hope someone can help. This has been driving me crazy.

The bad thing about this is I'm almost positive this book is sitting in my Kindle Library and I STILL can't find it! The only thing I remember is that H and h get married (arranged or something), he treats her badly, she finally gives up and decides to leave. She ends up at an inn and is taken under the wing of the proprietor and his wife. I believe the h ends up working there as a maid. H searches for her for a long time and he and his "army" or his men, at least, end up staying at the inn that she works at. He figures out she's there somehow and goes to her room (they are on the same floor). I THINK she's also big, heavy pregnant with his child by that time if I'm remembering correctly.

The wife realizes that if she doesn't talk to him willingly, he'll end up hurting her boss/friend who will try to protect her.

Also, I don't think the wife has anyone she can turn to. She can't go back to her family for some reason. This is historical, maybe Irish or Scottish. H maybe was a liege lord or something.

I just remember it being very emotionally draining, but in a good way and the parts where she starts to create a new life for herself.

So, the plot is set in Wales or Ireland (not sure). The heroine is young, found of folklore and has a powerful father. She falls in love with a rebel man who is her father's enemy and they marry. Her father manages to separate them. Everyone believes that the hero is dead, however he comes back after a long period of time (seven, ten or maybe even twelve years) to get revenge from his father-in-law and his wife whom he believes guilty as well.
I read it three or four years ago so it is not a new one.
I will be grateful if someone helps me.

Hello, I am new to the group. I'm hoping someone can help me find a book I read quite a while ago ( may be 10 years or more).
It's involves a young woman in England. I believe in the 1800s. She is in love with her husband ( who is a prolific cheater). He is killed in war, and his brother and or best friend who serves with him returns home and marries her. ( they were supposed to marry but she fell in love with the husband). They move to his estate and begin fixing it up. She becomes pregnant and goes on bed rest ( she had 3 miscarriages with her first husband). She has the baby but then her first husband reappears. She is separated from her child an second husband. Some how her husband ends up drowning in a pond so she can reunite with her second husband and child who is a better husband to her.

Hello everyone. Glad I found this site. I've been trying to find a book I read in the early 80's. A paperback book and I thought it was called Seven Pines. It's the story of a woman who marries, moves out west. They either build their home around seven pine trees or plant seven pine trees. She becomes good friends with a Native American man and learns the healing ways of the Indians. She becomes the doctor of her small community and a mid-wife of sorts. It is a generational book that goes into her children. Have not been able to find it by searching Seven Pines.

Back in the 90's I read a pair of books that I cannot for the life of me remember the title or author. The first is as follows :

A red headed woman works for a temp agency, and she works as an elderly blind man's aid. His rich son is convinced that she is only after them for the money. He insults her and she ends up quitting. She goes to work for her brother in law, as a waitress at his diner. And the son comes into the store. She gets so furious at him, she pours soup over his head. All this time she ends up spending passionate days with him. He has a fiance if I recall correctly.

The second is as follows :

A woman hires a man named Patrick as a guide into the amazon, looking for her fiance I believe. All the while steadily falling in love with Patrick. She ends up finding the civilization she is looking for, and her fiance who has fallen in love with the chief's daughter and married her. It leaves her free to love Patrick.

That's all I can remember, if someone can help, I would greatly appreciate it!

New to the group.... I'm going crazy trying to remember the name of a book that I read probably ten years ago...
Heroine's name may have been Camille or Camilla.
What I can remember is that she is raised as a tavern maid (or something like that), she runs away and is hit by a carriage by a lord and then taken to his house. She wakes up with amnesia and can't remember who she is. The lord is distant but his family falls in love with her... he is engaged, I think. But can't help but fall in love with her. Towards the end, people might be trying to kill (this part is hazy), but at the end she is actually the daughter of french aristocracy that was stollen as a child and raised in England.....

It starts with a young woman sneaking into a masked ball or masquerade, I think to take a look at the man she's forced to marry, and they end up having sex I believe. Later they marry but when he learns she's not a virgin he refuses to have anything to do with her, thinking she had sex with his twin brother & not him. I also think they travel to his home in the North...maybe Scotland or Ireland even, but that might be a different book.

This is one of those "Help! I'm looking for a book!" messages.

Back in the early 1990s while visiting "a friend" I was stuck without a book and started reading one of hers. I was only half way through when we left and I left the book with her.

I remember enjoying it, and I'd like to find it again. I remember it was a paperback with a white cover with thin lettering to look sort of like neon or with neon colors. It follows the lives of three women, one of whom I remember went into marketing. Unbeknownest to each other (for a while at least) all three women were falling for the same guy (and each of the women remarked on his "size."). At the time I read it, it was relatively new -- published within a year or two of when I was reading it.

The title was something like "Good Women" or "Good Girls, Bad Girls" or maybe even "Good Women/Bad Women" etc.

Wish I could narrow it down more.

Not sure if I'm combining two books that I read or not, but here goes. I read this in the early to mid 90's, it belonged to my mother (who has since gotten rid of it).

The book is about a young woman (english?) who receives a letter from her father about some land. It's during western times. She travels to America(pretty sure it takes place in texas, but possibly the midwest) to track down her father, whom she hadn't seen for years. Once here, she asks for a room to rest at the stagecoach stop, and goes to sleep. The son of the owner of the ranch she is going to happens upon her in his room and mistakes her for a prostitute. She sets him straight and later he escorts her to her destination. The rancher tells her that her father left long ago and he was a thief. She and the son get together and have sex. There's a killer after someone, but she gets shot while she's standing next to a grave and they almost lose her . Don't remember anymore than that, I don't think I finished the book. Also, think the rancher is spanish.

As many before me, I've come to ask for your help in finding a book. I remember small snippets and scenes, so I'll do my best to piece together my memory.

A historical romance. It's set in the old west. I cannot remember the Heroine or the Hero's name for the life of me.

Heroine is a young(er) woman who binds her breasts, wears pants, and pretends to be a boy.
•she has an uncanny talent for wild horses, on herd in particular. In specific, there is one tigerstripe dun mare that is particularly loyal and most of the book it's this mare she rides.
•Her father died of a rattlesnake bite
•She's all alone, spare for an old man who knows her true identity
•She is known as a witch by the locals for her talent with horses. Little snippet: there's a special native word mentioned that she is called, which translates to witch
•she was captured by a notorious outlaw and him and his bandits tried to "play" with her, but she managed to escape
Hero is a slightly older (not too much older than the girl) guy. I don't remember much about him. He gets injured, by Indians or bandits, I do not remember. The girl tends to him, still poising as a boy. She cares for him, patching him up, bathing him, and feeding him. The man starts to like "him", catches himself admiring the "boy's" face, his "lithe" body, etc, and only when the old man whom know the girls real identity slips up and calls her by her full name does the man realize its a girl.

I don't remember much else, but here are some scenes I remember

Scenes:
> the girl has just rescued the hero and she sees the mare previously mentioned has followed them. She exclaims "Zebra!" (The mare is named after the primitive stripes on her legs) and the man scoffs at her, telling her something aligns the lines of "Boy, that ain't a zebra." Or "haven't you ever seen a horse?"
>the girl escapes the man (I believe he was trying to take care of her) and is attempting to hide. She remembers how one notorious outlaw escaped his captors into a completely flat desert with nowhere to go but he covered himself in dust, lay completely still, and covered himself with brush etc, and they never saw him because they didn't expect for him to be there. The woman is lying completely still, but as she searches for him, she makes a move an the hero sees her and catches her. The girl starts cursing at him, something along the lines of "you son of a one-eyed flea and the stupidest stud son of a-" and her cuts her off by asking where she learned to cuss like that
>the leader of the band of wild horses that the girl tends to gets injured badly. The man is still around and he helps care for the horse, in fact he is the one who trains the horse, nurses him back to health. I believe the horse was a gorgeous black stallion, but exact coloring is fuzzy
>when they are about to have sex, he I binds her breasts, and he is speechless and says "never do this to yourself again" and he kneads the red, angry lines left by the tight fabric.
>a rattlesnake is crawling over the girls legs. She begins to freak out, but the hero doesn't know why. After the hero kills the snake, the woman breaks down, crying and speaking in half sentences, and the man pieces together how her father died days after being bitten by a rattlesnake, raving and out of his mind.
>closer to the end, the girl is facing off with something and the hero is hurtling towards her on the stallion he tended, and he thinks to himself either he won't be able to stop in time or he won't be able to make it to her aide in time, so he gets the horse to fall, ignoring the fact that it could possibly hurt the horse badly.

I sincerely hope this was enough to identify the books.

Hi everyone. I hope you guys can help. I am trying to find two books.

The first I know the title is Margaret but do not know author. I read this in 4th or 5th grade (I am in early 30s now). It is about a girl who I believe is 16 and she is a new teacher in the 1800s? maybe with an other student (guy who is older main character) I don't really remember the rest, but in all my searches I can't find it.

The second I have never read. It was in a harlequin book (old school, it was early 1990's when read, but it was my mom's book) it was a sample of the book at the end of another story. The story for what I remember is based in 1800s? maybe, the girls brother? is going to sell her to slavery/breeding place because of her skin coloring and hair her babies would be popular. She finds out about this and ask an uncle? to help her get away, he recommends a recluse that he knows that is disfigured. She doesn't care what he looks like or any of that as long as she doesn't get sold into the slavery/breeding place.

Hi so I am looking for a specific book and I only remember little things about it.

- The main woman is from the future
- I think that she was transported back in time while on vacation in Scotland.
-If I am remembering the right book she ends up by or on top of the gate leading to the castle.
- Takes place in Scotland
- At some point there is a solider with a fever and everyone thinks he is going to die and she says to use frozen peas as ice packs.
- The woman gets poisoned (with monks hood I think) by a cup of wine left in her room
- There are a group of healing woman (3?) who try using ice packs to heal her like the woman did in the beginning.

Hi need help finding a historical regency book. I recently read it within the pass couple months, think I borrowed it off of amazon. This is what I remember...

One of the early parts of the book have the heroine and her younger sister walk up and down the hall because they just learned that there are gentlemen calling on their broth or brother in law. The younger is hoping it the man she is madly in love with, believe he is a duke. When the men exit the room the hero (titled) and heroine meet, she says something about teeth. They become engaged and married early in the book. They travel to his estate, where his mother and (half) bother live.

Learn about the hero's mother past. She was a village girl who fell for the charms of a traveling gentleman (he was disowned by his father a Lord) who stayed with her family until he got her pregnant. She then later what to the local Lord who said he would marry her as long as she gave him a son of his own.

The hero's mother tries to ruin the relationship of hero and heroine by hiring his old love (blacksmith's daughter) as her personal maid. Something happens that cause the hero bring the heroine`s family to the estate. Might have been because the heroine was pregnant. While walking (with sister?) heroine ends up being kidnapped by the hero's half brother who has a mental illness. He ends up killing himself by jumping off a cliff.

At the end of book there is some kind of party and hero's friend, the duke, (they are secretly related, cousins) tries to leaves without the younger sister knowing. Wanting to say goodbye the sister waits for the duke in carriage. She ends up falling asleep. The duke, who traveled on horseback later learns she is in the carriage and brings her back.

Also, I believe another sister marries a doctor, who has been called upon by different members of the family...pregnancies.

I not sure but I think the hero was also trying to capture a French spy? I'm not sure...

Any help would be appreciated, I believe there is another book that tells the story of the younger sister and the duke.

It would be great if anyone knows this book! I've been searching for hours with no luck. I read at least 6 years ago, so it's not super new...

Basically, what I remember, is a girl was engaged to some guy but the girl gets kidnapped. A ruff cowboy from the town goes to find her and bring her back. He may have been a bad boy? But he finds her and they get a little handsy together while they are still traveling.

Hi! I am looking for a historical romance novel that I remember my friend reading when we were younger. She got it from the library around 1998/1999 so it could have been older than that even.

All I remember it being about was a girl who stole from a rich noble man and instead of turning her in, he makes her agree to act like they are going to get married because he is sick of his mother throwing girls he could possibly marry at him. And I think they go to a ball and she wears a pink dress. Also they don't get along at first.

Looking for titles to some romance books. These are a series but I can not remember how mary were in the group.

The first book is about a girl who is getting married and her first love( brother or cousins best friend - I think) comes back to win her. She hangs out with another woman ( cousin?)the fiance considers a bad influence because they drive cars and smoke and so on. The family goes away to vacation and first love is invited. They end up back together. The second book is about jilted fiance and the cousin. The cousin is married but abused and uses the jilted fiance to get a divorce by sleeping with him. They end up together too. This is considered a historical romance and the setting is during the time when cars just started being more common. I don't know year or author! Any help would be great!

I am looking for a historical romance, may have been written in the 80's. Heroine is captured by the hero (maybe a captain or a pirate) and he is very cruel to her, due to some misunderstanding. He leaves her at his home (maybe a castle?) where she is taken care of by his family/housekeeper. The heroine falls in love with him and is heartbroken and gets very sick, won't hardly talk or eat. The family starts to feel bad for how the hero is treating her. They suspect she loves him and she is very kind. He loves her, but can't tell her and she thinks he hates her.

It about a man meets with an accident and goes into coma. He has an out of body experience.
Similarly there is a female who goes through the same.
They end up helping a girl who is being cheated by a married man. This girl is now pregnant with the ex's child. they help her set her own business and fall in love with the correct man.

I don't remember much of the story but in the end it is seen that the coma characters come back to life, meet and fall in love.

I have been looking for this book, literally for years. I'm desperate because I actually lost the book before ever finishing it.

It was set in the regency era, the heroine agreed to marry the hero for either a set time or until she gave him a son(though I can't remember why). She became pregnant and things were going well, but they went to an art gallery and there was a nude painting of the heroine. The hero thought she posed for it and became incredibly jealous. He choked her and she consequently lost the baby.

That was the last part I read before losing the book. Any help would be so appreciated.

Lord X's father dies (I think he killed himself) Money is very tight so with the help of his mother Lord X opens a gaming hell (he is very good with cards) No one knowes he's a "Lord" He restores the family money.

Hi, I am new to this site and I am trying to find a book I read years ago. I do not remember the name of the book, the author or the characters name. The story is set in the Elizabethan era (at the beginning of Elizabeth I reigns). The heroine has a physical deformity of one leg. She lives (or owns but not sure) a house where she has tenant (although I don't think they pay rent as they are more her friends than tenants). The tenants are actors or writers and are kind of flighty. Her family sends her money because they don't want her around as they don't consider her beautiful enough to make and advantageous marriage and she has a limp, so they are focusing all of their attention on her younger, beautiful but completely dumb cousin. An arranged marriage was agreed upon years ago between her family and the family of an Earl and on the night of her cousins engagement party the heroine went there to speak with her father and aunt to ask for more money but the aunt told her to leave and as she was she met the future groom who found her beautiful and a lot more interesting and intelligent than her cousin. The secondary plot involves a series of murders been committed where the victims had their body drained of blood. The heroine initially thought she was committing the murders because she experienced blackouts and woke up covered in blood. The earl convinced her that she was not the murderer and they set out together to hunt the killer. I think there was also a prediction made that involved someone dying during a solar eclipse.

The book is a contemporary romance and starts off with a plus size woman (maybe BBW?) who bakes and while having a family get together realizes there is a snake in her outside shed. They call someone to come capture it. When the "wrangler" arrives there is mutual attraction and after he captures the snake she sends him home with some freshly baked cookies. He comes back later for more cookies and get her number. He is renovating his own home and is half Native-American and is known for his sweet tooth.

Hi everyone. I'm new here as well, and I thought maybe one of you lovely ladies or gents could help me on a book quest. I am hunting down books I had read a while back but have since lost the titles of. This is one of a few that I've been tracking down. Well here it goes...

It's a book about a New York journalist who has gone to I believe New Mexico under the request of her twin who is a fashion model and has an upcoming line that she will be modeling. The journalist arrives at the ranch that her sister is supposed to be staying at with her boss to find her missing.

Somehow she ends up with an ex-con, Jack(?), who knows but doesn't like her sister who has previously burned him. He is very mistrusting of the journalist due to this but he eventually agrees to help her look for her missing twin. ...Other scenes I remember: her guy at home being shocked that she and her super-model sister are twins and wanting to meet her twin once she gets back from this assignment. ... natural springs hot tub on the edge of Jack(?)'s property that the journalist has a heated argument with him while soaking in (after I believe they had been shot at). ... her guy at home having an argument with her over the phone when she tells him it's past time that they split up and he accuses her of being involved with Jack(?) because he's been informed that she is running around with this ex-con who is said to be a cassanova-type. ... during her and Jack(?)'s search, they end up discovering a cave that they have to climb through and they discover Indian pottery and relics but get followed by one of the bad guys who has a gun.

The original cover from the 90's-early 2000's had a girl's face that looked to be underwater. It had a greenish-bluish tinge across the front.

Hi, I new here so sorry if I don't get this right. I have been trying to find a book that I read years ago. I cannot recall the names of the characters just some of the story.

She is the daughter of rich parents, He is the son of (I think) the maid, or something like that. They are teens when they fall in love but he is accused of stealing her mother's pearls/jewellery (or maybe her stepmother). He leaves she is devastated. Years later he returns a super rich and ruthless man, she has lost everything. He buys her home and employs her to work for him. She becomes his mistress, something happens to make her run off and before she can return she is hit by a car. When she wakes in the hospital she is badly scarred so thinking he cannot ever want her again she disappears. He tracks her down and finds her working as a waitress. He confronts her and discovers that she is pregnant with his child. He wants her back but she shows him her scars and says that he couldn't be attracted to her now. He shows her he is and they admit they love each other and end up together.

I have never read. It was in a harlequin book (old school, it was early 1990's when read, but it was my mom's book) it was a sample of the book at the end of another story. The story for what I remember is based in 1800s? maybe, the girls brother? is going to sell her to slavery/breeding place because of her skin coloring and hair her babies would be popular. She finds out about this and ask an uncle? to help her get away, he recommends a recluse that he knows that is disfigured. She doesn't care what he looks like or any of that as long as she doesn't get sold into the slavery/breeding place.

Hi, I have been looking for this book for ages, and would love some help. It has been a while since I read it, so details might be fuzzy, sorry.
h (possibly a librarian) goes on holiday to a desert country and for some reason ends up staying in the castle belonging to the H who is the prince/sultan/sheik. I think she might not have enjoyed her holiday and the prince wants to convince her otherwise.
H has a cousin/female relative of some sort (possibly named Fatima or Adela) who is jealous of h and so seems to convince h that she isn't free to leave the rooms given to her (I think she takes h's passport). H is confused as to why he doesn't really see her. H also has a sister who is very friendly with the h.
h tries to leave/escape in a sandstorm and he rescues her.
the ending: he reveals his love for her in a pool.

Hi, I am looking for a book and I'm not having much luck considering what I'm trying to figure out doesn't have to do with the main characters, but rather secondary characters. It's the type of situation where I can't remember the plot of the book, but have rather fixated on a detail of the book. So here goes:

It's a historical romance, super recent - within the last 2 years, 3 tops. It's part of a series that features a group of male friends, one of whom has been isolated from the group because he shot and killed another one of the friends in a duel. I'm pretty sure that the duel was over the main heroine (she might have been the dead guy's fiance at the time?), and I think he was mistreating her or something. But during the course of the book, the formerly exiled friend slowly regains the trust of his friends and ends up playing a role in the rescue/bad situation at the end.

Like I said, it's recent so I think there should be another book coming out soon that maybe expands on this story. Any ideas?

EDIT: A wonderful person on one of the Amazon forums was able to help me within the hour. It was "Across a Starlit Sea" by Rebecca Brandewyne. Also, the hero's name was Jarrett, not Alexander. It's a GREAT book for anyone interested!

I read this book YEARS ago (late 80s) when I was a teenager and snuck it from my mom's room...hehe....

Setting: England, approx.1700s.
Here's the premise: Story begins when the Heroine (don't remember her name) is young and she is playing a game (I believe hide-and-seek) with her (evil) cousin and some others and she hides in the attic in a trunk. Well, her evil cousin locks her in there and she's left. Nicholas finds her and saves her and ends up punching the evil cousin (comes to her rescue) so from that point on, she's in love with Nicholas. The problem is that she's betrothed to marry the older (more serious) brother Alexander (He is the hero of the story).
Flash-forward and now she's older and of marrying age and marries Alexander much to her chagrin because she's in love with Nicholas. As the story unfolds though, Nicholas becomes quite reckless and he marries another and there are hints at neglect and abuse (I'm not totally sure of this). She slowly falls in love with Alexander and they live happily ever after. There is an Epilogue where it says how they lived to an old age had many children and so on.

There is a side story with the evil cousin (I believe he had white-blond hair...).

It is NOT a Harlequin novel. I do remember that it had the type of cover like Heather Graham and Johanna Lindsey used in the 80s/90s.

For the life of me, I nor my mom can remember the author nor the title (obviously, or I wouldn't be here pleading!).

Hello, I am looking for a historical book, Regency, I think. The two main characters are best friends, the go horse back riding together almost every day. The woman is considered "on the shelf" I think. She leaves London with another man to go to a sick family members home, so she can help take care of the sick relative. The hero is suspicious and follows them. They all get stranded at an inn by a bad snow storm.(I think the hero's emotions are supposed to influence the weather). The hero uses the time at the inn to try to convince his friend that the man she left with is trying to trick her into marrying him.

Hi, please I need help finding a book, it's contemporary romance. It started with the heroine and her 2yr old son, apparently she was married and she left her husband, the reason I can't remember. A stranger saw her and her son at the beach and asked to take a picture. Turns out the stranger took it to her husband. He then came for them. Turns out he is a politician, he was running for governor, he was either a senator already or a governor running for a second time. He took her to his ranch where his parents also lived, he is wealthy. The was also something about her brother robbing a bank and he got shot but they never recovered the money and some pple think she is with it. They receive threatening letters. One day when they wanted to give their son a bath at night they found him asleep clutching a bill and the made a joke about the governors son having to take money from his daddy's wallet. In the end they found out that her brother hid the money in her teddy bear which she gave her son and that's where her son got the bill he was clutching from.
I know it's a bit disjointed but please any ideas. Thank you very much.

Hi! I've been trying to find this book forever. In this book, the hero is a lord of sorts and the heroine is poor, the daughter of the local bar/tavern manager or something. The heroine is rather ill-treated at her house and is dirty to look at etc. She's loved the hero a long time or something. Then one day the hero has his way with her and she ends up pregnant and the father sees it as a way to make money or something and forces the guy to marry her. And the guy's relatives turn the girl into a real beauty and the guy starts falling for her. but she loses her baby. And i think the guy's already previously engaged to some girl, who has no backbone and he doesn't like the fact that the heroine can think for herself and all. There's also some shooting and drama involved.
I read this ages ago and can't seem to find out which book it was. Can anyone help me?

-When they get back the h finds a bomb under her pillow and someone from the police force ends up being the one who put it there.. I think it was the captain from the other team??

Hi! I'm new to these kinds of threads. This is the first time I've had trouble finding a book I've read before.

I read a romance novel about 5 years ago, it started with the heroine I think at her fiancé's funeral. They say how her parents are dead, and her fiancé is dead, and that's all I really remember of her life. Not too long after that they have one of her ancestors (like a great great great aunt or grandmother) practicing magic with her friends (in the 1800's I think) and they bring her back in time. Aside from that the only parts I remember are how she and the hero dislike each other in the beginning, and she's a virgin, and the hero and her almost sleep together in a carriage, and then they eventually do sleep together, after she's been grazed on the head by a bullet.

I've been looking for this for a while now, and the friend who I borrowed the book from can't find it and can't remember the name either! Thanks for any help you can give, I really appreciate it.

I have been looking for this book for over 10 years! I only read about a third of it before my mother found it and took it away ( I was 12 and VERY curious).

It was probably from the 90s. The cover was green I think with a circular cutout that showed the hero and heroine kissing. If you opened it there was a full pic of the usual heaving bosom. I'm not sure of the exact setting but I think it was England in the 1800s. All I can remember of the plot is that the heroine pretends to have a hunchback and limp and maybe a stutter to avoid marrying some rake who is being forced to pursue her for some reason. Probably money. She watched him have sex with his mistress when she hid in a wardrobe at a local inn. He realizes she is faking when he sees her riding one day and becomes intrigued.

That is all I can remember and even those details could be a bit off. Please help!

Hey! I've been trying to figure this out for days! Sadly, I do not remember much about either book. I read them in the last few years, but they very well could have been a much older books. I don't remember the cover at all.

I know both took place mostly in Scotland 1000-1300 I believe.

I'm almost certain they were in a series with connecting characters. I thought it was Julie Garwood at first, but no luck.
All I remember of the first book is that the heroine was basically taken by the hero. She would not marry him, so he tricks her into it. The entire time they are traveling she doesn't realize she is married and the priest doesn't realize she doesn't know. Then later the priest realizes his folly and tells her she must stay away from her husband so they don't consummate the marriage. This does not work though as right after this the hero arrives and takes her away to have their belated wedding night.

I'm not certain the second book connects to this novel/is in the same series, but I am sure the book below was part of a series and wasn't the first.
I know the heroine is beaten protecting a boy who was captured by the man of the castle she resides in (not sure if at this moment it is England or Scotland, but it later moves to Scotland). Not sure why she was there she might have been captured with the boy, separately, or might have been their for another reason entirely, but that night she escapes with the boy after protecting him and realizes she must get away that night whether she can barely stand or not. I'm pretty sure traveling priests find them and help and shes in a shack while the boys relatives are supposed to be coming and when they see her injuries they are shocked and at first she even tries to protect the boy from them. I'm pretty sure the hero is either the boys brother or uncle, but I believe it was his uncle that came to fetch him. When the boy's relatives arrive the boy I believe won't tell who she is but I could be wrong. It turns out the wrong boy was captured and that he had switched plaids with a friend at possibly a festival. The heroine is determined to tell the parents of the real family.

Also I accidently first posted this as a topic of it's own, I realized my error shortly after and I have managed to delete the contents of the message, but it's still listed as a topic/thread and I'm unsure how to completely remove it for everyone's convenience. If any one knows how to do this, I would appreciate if they would let me know!

So I'm looking for this book and I'm not sure how old it is, but I read it about 3 or 4 years ago.

It's a historical romance (regency I believe) and the hero and heroine meet years ago at a party. He's disgraced and she's a debutante. Somehow (I think one of her friends conspired against her) she ends up ruined and everyone assumes that she slept with the hero.

Several years later, her uncle decides he no longer wants to support her and needs to marry her off. So he contacts all the men who proposed to her years ago and sets up for her to visit them all so he can marry her off.

Long story short, she tricks most of them in to not wanting to marry her, but ends up getting involved again with the hero when she visits him in Scotland because his secretary mixed up the letters that were supposed to be sent out.

The hero's family died in this tragic fire years ago and he's estranged from his grandfather because his father married a commoner. His grandfather dies and the hero inherits a marquessate from him.

Him and the heroine end up married at some point and there's drama when she runs away with her con artist brother and her husband is accused of murdering her since she disappeared.

I also remember that he was a genius and had a photographic memory. I just can't remember who wrote the book or what it was called! Help?!

So I'm looking for this romance novel that I read about 10 years ago. The only thing I remember about it is a woman being led by a man through a desert and she had to use the bathroom. Of course there are none in the desert and the man was slightly irritated saying something to the effect of him not having to use the restroom as often as her because he has trained his mind to ignore the urge. I know they were in a hurry to get across the desert and so stopping to do so was putting them in danger. Also I believe it was on a different planet.

He teased her and "helped" her and by turns, of course, they fall in love. I do remember there was a cricket scene in the book - I believe the setting was a country estate for a good portion of the book? I think the rake was a friend of the heroine's brother, perhaps? Good dialogue and humor. I thought it was Tessa Dare, but I couldn't find it among her books. Help!

And a bonus question... a long time ago I read a book where the very opening scene was the hero receiving oral "favors" while sitting at a ball. I can't for the life of me remember who wrote this book but if anyone know, that would be great.

Hi glad this thread exist lol hopefully I can find this book that's been out of my reach for so long, The book itself is not what interests me so much but I need to find it in order to find the story that follows. It's about three sisters the first book is about the oldest who is blonde and the most beautiful one out of the three but she has a reputation for being an ice queen (supposedly her first husband could not consummate the marriage and everyone whose tried since with interest in inheriting her property/dowry has not been able to because she is so "icy") the hero in the story is a knight called nick or Nicholas and in the story the heroine even gets raped (ick) by the villain who thinks if he takes her virginity she will be forced to wed him (though he finds out she was lying about the first marriage not being consummated) Nicholas arrives while this is happening and stops it and the heroine ends up killing the villain by slicing his throat etc but it is the secondary characters in this story I love, the heroine's sister and nicholas's best friend who have a love hate relationship and whose story follows, where he kidnaps her on her wedding day. For some reason I think the book had a pink cover for some reason dont know if that helps lol hope someone knows either one of the stories! :)

Hi, I'm looking for a book that I read a couple of years ago. It's about a woman who runs away with her sister's two young children (possibly twins). But along the way, the children get kidnapped. A man helps her find them. She falls in love with this man and follows him to Wyoming territory (could have been another territory, but Wyoming stands out for some particular reason). I think that she ran away because a male family member repeatedly tried to molest her or something. I seem to remember something about her blockading her bedroom door at night so he couldn't get in. Hi. I am looking for a book I read years and years ago. I think it takes place in England? And I can only remember a vague plot...a man and woman get married but he is forced to leave the morning after their wedding night to go to war (battle?). He is kept as a prisoner of war for years and is thought dead. Years later he comes home. He is angry at his wife because he thinks she moved on without him. Meets who he thinks is a young boy, who he finds out is actually a girl and later discovers is his daughter. Back at home, someone is trying to kill him, poisons his food, shoots him in the arm (I think) with an arrow. His wife becomes pregnant again. Later he and his wife are locked in the cellar. I read a book several years ago and cannot seem to remember the title or author. The main female character's life is in danger and her bodyguard gets injured around the time hrr ex-husband dies. Since the bodyguard's soul has evacuated the body it cannot return so the guardian angels offer the ex-husband a second chance in thr bodyguard's body. In the book it mentions primary soulmates (people we would be most happy with and have highest chance of a successful relationship with) and other soulmates (people we could live happily with but with a low chance of success). The guardians screwed up the first time by pushing the husband and wife together which led to the bodyguard, the wife's primary soulmate, dying before they really connected.

Basics are the story takes place in England I believe, and love interest has a brief fling with the woman and she finds out she's pregnant but by then he has already left to sail away on his ship. He came back about 10 years or so later and reconnected with her and her daughter, who also had the same piercing green eyes as him. He gave her a gift of soft leather gloves that were the colour of butter... In the book they kept making mention of his outrageous green eyes...

I am new to this site, but have been looking for a book, possibly Harlequin? about a musician and a songwriter who are divorced after the musician husband has a one night stand which produces a child. His wife, the songwriter, sees a tabloid in the supermarket which causes her to miscarry her own child. Several years later the songwriter is pushed to work with her ex-husband again, by him and the music label if I remember correctly. They go to an isolated cabin and naturally work things out. I think the male character's name is Travis or Taylor or something like that. I read this book in the late 90's/early 2000's. I think the title might have something to do with "song" or "harmony" ????

The hero is a very tall man. I believe the heroine is also tall. This factors into the one scene I can remember: Towards perhaps the end of the book, the woman begins to go into labor even though it's not quite time yet. I think there is a snow storm or something preventing them from going into town or getting someone to them. The man then has to deliver the baby himself. He tries to convince the woman that everything is going to be alright. He gets towels and stuff. The labor drags on forever and he notices that something is wrong. The baby is stuck, too big (like his father). So he does the only think he can think to do and reaches his hand in to get the shoulder out. After that, the woman almost dies because of a hemorrhage. The baby is a boy. Does anyone know the name of this book? Please help. I'm a sucker for scenes like this so even a guess would be nice. I thought it might be a Danielle Steel, Nora Roberts or Lindsey book. I read it when I was a young preteen but I'm fairly certain it came out a little before then, so perhaps in the late 1980s.

I would appreciate your help. There was a book I read in the late 80's/early 90's (?) that I am trying to recall as I would love to read it again. It was a contemporary romance, and quite steamy.

A woman who is a virgin has a one-night stand with a man who is a business tycoon (oil?) who owns a big ranch. He didn't realize she was a virgin until they slept together. He freaks out, especially when the birth control conversation comes up (after the fact.)

This may have been set in Texas.

He has a younger brother who is a lawyer and works for their corporation (pierced ear at the urging of french man family friend during a drunken night, that he is still unhappy about.)

There is also a close friend / colleague (?) who is a french man with a vendetta against the family.

Said tycoon becomes incredibly upset when his former-virgin cuts her hair, at the encouragement of the french man. She is now pregnant, and the tycoon has sympathetic morning sickness, recommending crackers and cola to her. His brother teases him about morning sickness, wondering if he will go through sympathetic labour as well.

There was also a blonde family friend who is actually interested in the younger brother, even though appear to only tolerate each other.

This may have been the first book in a series. The only thing I recall from the cover is that it was a thickish book, a paperback, and the type of cover for romance books you buy at Wal-Mart.

The two of them and a nasty old woman were all that were left in their crumbling keep in the moors I think. Girl was raised wild and like a boy, was called the baron by her keepers, her uncle? died. Englishman came for a reason I can't remember and she was his now his ward. He thought she was a boy. They were traveling somewhere for a long time. She had a big black horse and a huge dog that she grew up with. Englishman kept trying to change her after he found out she was a girl. She tries to kill him and run away several times. During one of the escape attempts she is attacked by men and her horse dies protecting her. Find out later from her taking in her sleep in French, I think? About her twin but she can't remember it when awake. They fall in love, etc.

Hi, I'm a newb. I read this book in the last 3 years and its stuck with me. It is in a trilogy. It is in early Scotland. there are two different clans. There is a heroine and she like runs her own clan for her father and brothers. Her father sets up a betrothal between her and a man related to the laird like a brother. The man is not happy. So unhappy that he drinks a lot during the feast celebrating their being newly married. He drinks so much that when he finally goes upstairs to consummate the marriage he passes out on the bed without performing the deed. She freaking out then decides to cut her leg so it will look like he had taken her virginity on the sheets. She accidentally cuts too big and deep and goes to sleep. Morning comes and shes still sleeping when her father and brothers and other witnesses come upstairs to see the proof of her virginity on the sheets. The groom decides not to wake her and so just picks her up and holds her in the blankets. Someone exclaims that the groom surely has rend her in two there is so much blood. Everyone is concerned and tries to wake her up, it takes a little bit but she makes a noise letting them know she is still alive. The husband has no recollection of that night at all. Later the father and brothers tell her that they are willing to take her away from her husband if she wants, she refuses. They in the end fall in love and are HEA.

I am looking for a historical romance about a girl who is forced to marry. Her parents are not nice to her and make her get married by proxy. HI, I can't remember a book. I think it's harlequin.
The heroine is secretary to the hero. He asks her to go with him to a dinner business meeting (with a man named Gabe/Gabriel D'angelo i think) and asks her to buy something appropriate to wear and something that will distract Gabe. He says that she dresses like the office furniture. So she does buy something that is not like office furniture which ended up distracting the hero during dinner instead.

I need help finding a book! It has been my obsession for days!! I've been rereading novels trying to find it!!

They were in a war camp or castle siege and the heroine rushes to the hero to see if he's hurt. They kiss passionately, then he pulls her up onto the horse. She becomes ashamed/embarrassed and mortified she hides in his chest (to hide from his men). He says something like don't ever be ashamed of your desire for me and I think he chuckles.

There's a historical fiction that I just can't remember. I'm about 90% sure it was Scottish (possibly not set in Scotland the whole time, but the main characters were probably Scottish)? I remember there were three brothers, and each brother fell in love with a different girl. This may have been a three part series.

The first girl was very petite and had a very loud voice and disguised herself as a boy for some reason, and joined up with I think the oldest brother and his group of soldiers, becoming his page. He got really sick at one point and he still really didn't know she was a girl but somewhere in his fever they had sex (I vividly remember a line about how her slipper dangled off her foot the morning after for some reason). Eventually realized she was a girl. The next girl may have been nobility of some kind and she was kidnapped and presented to one of the other brothers dressed only in her really, really long hair. She was very feisty and they did not get along well in the beginning. Can't remember much about the third girl (she may have already been married to the other brother?) but near the end of the story there's a fight, possible siege, where the brothers lock up their ladies in this one room to keep them from getting hurt and girl #1 was really loud, girl #2 had very imaginative curses, and girl #3 cursed in Gaelic.

I'm fairly certain I bought this book from Costco sometime around 2005/2006 and the cover was probably red. Any help would be much appreciated, and thanks in advance.

So I don't have a huge amount of plot on this book so I don't know if anyone can help me but here goes.

A woman marries a highlander and there's someone out to kill or hurt her or her husband (not sure). The wife ends up pregnant and only had an inkling that she was pregnant, she ends up miscarrying and her brother and a maid end up helping her through the miscarriage. Her brother asked something along the lines of "What's happening to her?" and is told by the maid that she is miscarrying and that she had just begun to think that she was pregnant.

I hope someone can help me. I keep thinking of Lynsay Sands but I don't know if it's one of her books or not.

I hate that annoying feeling when I can just remember parts of a book, but not the title or name of the author. I remember a book about a woman who was hired at a company and working in the IT department, and then it came to the attention of the CEO that she was stealing company info...I can't remember all of it, but I remember the twist was that she did steal the info because she was blackmailed into it but she ended up building a program that would keep all other hackers out of the system...anyone able to help me out with the title on this one?

The guy wasn't angry about the marriage he had a tooth ache and was forced to drink the Whiskey so that he could get his tooth ripped out. Also her Father and Brothers bring her to the Laird's keep so that they will marry. I think you actually connected some of the events from the other two in the Trilogy to the plot in this book as well.
I'm pretty sure the book you're looking for is Taming The Highland Bride by Lynsay Sands. Others in the Trilogy are Devil of The Highlands and The Hellion and The Highlander.

I know this review sounds bad - but it's not a bad book

I am looking for a Harlequin Presents probably from Late 70s or 1980s. Heroine is British and maybe has or works for an art gallery in England. Hero is a rancher in Texas. The rancher's father got to know the heroine while he was in England. He left half of his ranch to her when he dies. The other half is left to the hero. She travels to Texas for the reading of the will. He, of course, thinks she slept with his father and is terrible to her. The rancher has orphaned twin nieces who he is raising. His brother and his wife were killed recently. The heroine has red hair and wears bold colors. There is a blonde not nice lady who is after the rancher's affections. The heroine plays like she and the hero are in a relationship for the twin girls sake. Rancher, of course, gets angry and kisses heroine. They eventually marry I think. Away from home. Not sure what made that happen.

Does this sound familiar to anyone? Thank you in advance for your help!

Hi, I am a new member and I have a couple of books I am looking for. I will start with the most important one and see if anyone remembers this. Ok here goes: This book is set in England, it is part of a three book series and this is the last book I believe. The Hero is a Duke and he contracts to marry the heroine but she is in love with someone else so she slopes with the young man she is in love with to Gretna green but is stopped by the duke and her brother before they get there. The Duke is within his rights to break the marriage contract and the scandal would ruin the girl and her family but the duke decides to go through with the marriage. The hero never takes his wife to bed. The book then goes on to their life together about five years later and they still have not consummated their marriage because the hero believes that the heroine still loves the boy she was going to run away with but she doesn't. She has fallen in love with her husband and they both have to tell each other that they are in love with the other before they can find happiness. Please somebody help me. I have been scouring my library trying to find these books.

Can't help you too much with a title, but if it's any help, I remember receiving a copy of it (that would be between about 2002 and 2005) as a package from the Mills & Boon "Real Women" panel that they were running at the time. The aim of the panel was that they had a couple hundred of us who were working 'non-traditional' women's jobs that they would periodically send a couple of proposed new releases out to us to get our feedback on whether to stock them in.

I'd imagine, with the plot info you have, if you were to email Mills & Boon in the UK and let them know it was definitely a part of that research, they'd probably be able to track it down for you PDQ.

The heroine named Beth (I am not so sure ) lives with her uncle who is a designer. She has a brother who is quite rebellious until he marries the sister of the main male character. The main guy doesn't like Beth and her brother and did not want his sister to hang out with Beth;s brother. However Beth's brother eloped with the sister and got married. Both Beth and the main guy searched for them and are stranded in a cottage. They started to become attracted toe each other. He shows up at her room drunk. I think she woke up and he was gone and she decides to leave.
As she's leaving in the carriage, he returns, yells a bit at her for leaving, then reveals he left to go get her an engagement ring.

a modern medical harlequin romance book. The female character is quite clumsy and funny. She has been in love with her brother's friend since a teenager. After a scandal due to her, the male character had to leave town/university.I think she sneaked into his room and got undressed or something like that. Years later she met him again at a hospital. She is a new intern there. It is mostly a funny book...the female tends to talk to herself and ends up in funny situations. At one point, she had to share his house because her living headquarter was mugged. That's all I remember.

I'm looking for a book that I read in the 90's about a female reporter/ anchor that was hiding her identity because she ran away from an abusive father. She ends up back on the property of a vineyard (I think) where her father worked and falls in love with the owners grandson.

I may be be crazy but I think there was an early frost or something and the love interest tried to use helicopters to dry the grapes.

I've been trying to find a book for months and I'm going crazy because I cant find it!!! I read it over a year ago and I loved it!

Its a book about two lawyers friends who work in the same place. They are working on the same case only on opposite sides. One night they are going out to eat and drop by each others place to change out of their work clothes and end up drinking way too much wine (I think) on an empty stomach. This causes them to get a little drunk and end up sleeping together. They wake up the next morning very confused because if I remember correctly, she divorced her ex-husband a year ago (? Again I think) and so she hasn't slept with a guy since him. And so feeling a mans body next to her makes her think its her ex. While he's confused because the bed too short for him, he's taller and his feet stick out. And so when they both open their eyes they freak out because they're good friends and can't believe what happened the night before.

Also, I remember her freaking out because she's pregnant then getting really sad when she realizes she's not.

Please help!! I've looked for it everywhere but I just cant find it :(
P.S. I keep thinking that her (female main character's) name is Faith.

In the book I remember that this teenage girl was either camping or they were at a party in the forest but her boyfriend convinced her to have Sex with him, and she gave in a couple of weeks later she found out she was pregnant. A couple of months later she was in the car with her boyfriend and she pissed him off but he wouldn't let her out of the car so she literally jumped out the car I can't remember if after or before this incident they got married but after the baby was born she forgave him and she had to leave her dad and go with her husband to Texas cause he got a football scholarship. Once they got to Texas it was all good for a while till one night he beat her up and raped her. She called the police but they didn't do anything . She was so scared she didn't tell no one she didn't know how to leave him and go back to chicago with her dad . And the baby was a girl.. I think .

Hi all, I'm new at this so apologies. I've done several intense google searches but nothing has popped up, so I'm really hoping y'all can help!! I'm looking for a book that involves a hero and heroine who were teenage sweethearts, and starts off with them coming back home (across the border of a state, it's unclear) to face her parents. I think they were off to get married. He gets arrested and she gets sent to be looked after by nuns, because she's pregnant. When she delivers the baby she is told that he died, but in actuality the baby was sent to the father to be raised. She comes across her son unknowingly several years later when he is about sixteen, picking him up from a gas station or something when he is trying to hitch hike home. He is a rodeo rider or something, and has a broken collarbone. She takes him home and realises his father is her ex, and thinks that the boy must have been concieved immediately after they were split up. It isn't until near the end of the book that she finds out the boy is hers. Until then, the father is angry with her because he thinks she abandoned her child. I feel like either the father or the son's name is Jet/Jett, and the other may be Justin. I feel like her name is Katherine, Kathryn, Kathleen, something along those lines. It was set in maybe the late 1980's/1990s, and the author was well known but I haven't got a clue!! Really hoping someone can help me out. Thanks!!!

Here I am again. Possibly a Janet Chapman or Lynsay Sands (maybe, maybe not) I can't recall.
I'm pretty sure I read this book recently.
There's a woman who goes to a ski resort or something along those lines. She takes photographs while on the chair lift and while skiing down one of the slopes, and she ends up getting hit and knocked down. Her camera ends up going flying. A group of people who work for the resort through family (I think) end up helping the woman. I remember that there may be twins in this group. The woman had actually ended up taking a picture of the guy who pushed her down the slope possibly while she was on the chair lift. There was definitely a female cousin in the group who came to help because she is the one who found the camera.
I really wish I could remember because it wasn't very long ago that I read this but I keep thinking of Tarstone Mountain from Janet Chapman's Highlander Series but am not getting any title ideas!

Need help! Read this book back in the middle to late 90's got it from Walmart harlequin section... A lady runs a diner and for some reason she has a small limp and the Dr's told her she can't have kids(I think) this girl leave her baby boy at her diner after she tried to reconnect with her brother the babies uncle but when she sees him he is in a bad mood and she decides not to leave her baby with him. So she leaves the baby at they diner and the woman somehow knows or finds out who the uncle is and tells him about the baby. Which I think either the baby or uncles name is Liam. The man and woman start spending time together. The uncle wants the baby so does the woman... Something about adopting the baby but she can't because of something from her past and so he adopts the baby and then they get married I think. Please help!

Oki, I've got a request of my own as I can't seem to find it. Maybe I'm mixing 2 books up (in that case please name both ;) ) but I think there's a good chance that it's one book:
~Heroine has a brain tumor
~Heroine's sister tells her she can't get pregnant and asks heroine to be the surrogate because she's so scared of her husband who treats her like crap and would divorce her if he knew blabla

Thrilled to find this site/group/thread! Trying to find a romance/maybe gothic novel I read before 1976. Girl goes back home to an island or isolated coastline, where the only home other than her family's house is owned by the family of her childhood sweetheart. She never received answers to her letters, and thought for years that he had blown her off, but learned on returning that the two families had conspired to send her away and steal their letters and break up their romance. They defy the families, and renew their relationship, but she soon learns that violent madness runs in his family and his parents have decided to end the bloodline. After he attacks her, he winds up locked away for life and she winds up with the steady, protective fellow who saved her, but she doesn't believe she will be happy.
The author wrote an afterward revealing that her son was manic depressive, and she wrote the book from a place of deep personal tragedy.
Anyone recognize it? I really need to see if my memory of it is accurate and how differently it reads now that we know so much more about bipolar.

Hi! I'm super new at this but I have been searching for a book series forever and still haven't found anything yet. I only remember the details to one of the books so I'll try my best.

The main guy (also the oldest brother and Head of household) is cold and never shows emotion, until he meets a lady who is treated very bad by her aunt. The two main characters fight often but fall in love. One scene I remember really well is when he falls into a pond and instead of being angry he starts to laugh and several of his nephews and nieces join in. I also remember that one of the brothers is missing after a war, and in another book from that series it is his story and how he lost his memory and fell in love with a nurse. The first one: H is staying in a cottage inn in Scotland goes for a drive gets chased by someone who's trying to kill her she ends up getting into an accident and falls into a portal where she is found by six or seven lairds they think she's a witch and take her to her to their lord. Ends up going back Hero and H live happily ever after.

Second book: H goes on a tour of a castle walks into a wall tapestry that that goes back in time to 1700 hundreds??? During the time of queen Elizabeth. Meets the boy who now is a man from her dreams he doesn't think she's real goes to chase her catches up to her but she can't go back to the present ...Hero has H help him by fulfilling a promise.made by the queen's husband to free the queen of scotland from being beheaded. Hero H and hero's younger brother leaves to save the queen ends up saving a young girl accused of witchcraft. H poses as one of the queen's ladies. H gets pregnant by hero plan fails younger brother gets killed leaves a son behind. Hero leaves h (BTW they got married ) behind. H gets harassed by some important figure head. hero comes back after awhile...

I hope someone can help me find this book, it's been 15 years since I read it but it has always stuck with me.

The book I'm looking for was possibly published in the 1980's - 1990's. It was set in England if memory serves me correctly, 17th or 18th century?, where the hero (I can't for the life of me remember character names) mistakes the heroine for his estranged wife (possibly ex wife). The heroine bares a striking resemblance to the estranged 'wife'. He assaults the heroine as he spots her near his home or possible on his estate (thinking she's the estranged wife) wanting to punish her for leaving him and his young son but is horrified when he realises that the heroine was telling the truth and is an innocent. The heroine also has a slight limp, an injury she suffered when she was a child and I think walks with a cane. After attacking her he takes her to his home and to tries to redeem himself in her eyes (not sure if he is titled, I'm assuming he is) and she meets his son.

Any thoughts would be most helpful.

The woman is confronted by her brothers adoptive mom and she refers to reporter as her old name which was Ashely or alice. She wants to see her brother before he dies , adoptive mom says yes .,.. her brothers adoptive brother believes her to be his brothers lover so he tells her to leave the hospital…and not hurt his brothers fiancé by her presence.

Later she gets invited to h brothers adoptive families home it's a vineyard estate to learn everything about her brother she's invited by the brothers mom which she tells alice that no one new that her son was adopted .... Her brothers brother tells her why is she there and she and him fall in love and they are sitting around the table and everyone learns that their brother was adopted ..and H is totally wrong about her being his brothers lover.

Hey I'm a new member and I'm trying to find this book I remember reading, but I don't remember much about it and may be combining a couple of books on accident.

The main thing I remember is that it's set in a time period where there's kings and dukes and such. There's a scene in it where the male is hosting guests at his castle or whatever and everyone's seated at the table for dinner when the female decides to tease him under the table while he of course has to maintain his dignity and can't leave since he's the host. However, she doesn't anticipate him turning the tables on her and he practically brings her to orgasm(silently since she doesn't want anyone to know what they're doing either) at the table where she excuses herself red in the face.

I'm less sure about these details, but I think they're the same story.
It seems like the main character(female) and the main character(male) weren't supposed to have sex(or a relationship) for some reason(I think she was like promised to the king or something but the main male character was a friend of the king and ended up having the king give his blessing for their union anyway), but the female character was strong willed and wanted the male character and eventually got the male character to give in.

I think the cover was pink. It was a full novel size. It's been out for a while as I remember first reading it around 17 years ago and I think it had been out for a bit before I read it initially too.

Any help would be appreciated. Let me know if I need to change anything.

Looking for a contemporary romance written in the 80s. I would have read this in the early to mid-90s...so it probably was a reissue at that point. Authors (cont. rom.) I was reading at the time: Jayne Ann Krentz, Nora Roberts, Christina Skye, Sandra Brown, Sharon Sala, Elizabeth Lowell....

The heroine and hero:

* Woman owns an antiquarian bookshop. She buys a particular title that attracts the hero of the story. She is studying watercolors; but doesn't really get the technique (heavy-handed with the brush, supposedly).

* The man is a troubleshooter of sorts. He saved a friend's daughter from a cult prior to the book's opening. He, of course, has a complete understand of the watercolor technique the woman is studying. He has an annoying habit of being able to not set off the doorbell in her shop...which she can't ever figure out how he does it.

Key scenes in the book

* They end up at a compound where she is trying to sell this one book; and he is trying to investigate the potential buyer -- someone from his past that he thinks should be dead.

* Guard dogs are set loose as the man and woman try to escape the compound...the man basically puts the Crocodile Dundee whammy on the dogs and they are sudden eager to make him happy and do everything he says

* While at a party at the compound, the man is drugged and the woman makes him drink enough water to vomit whatever he had been drugged with.

* The potential buyer of the book tries to hypnotize the woman into revealing why the hero is at the compound with her.

* It turns out the book the woman is trying to sell has a strip of microfilm in the spine.

I have been searching for a book that I read a couple of years back, I found it when I was going through my mom's old stuff, and I can't remember the name of it or author to save my life! It was an old western, and it was definitely before 1998 at least. I remember that the heroine of the story was running from someone, I want to say a family member, and she settled down in a small town. I remember she was taught to shoot a gun by the hero and she was auctioned off along with a fruit basket because she was single. I also remember that it was set in an early time period. I want to say sometime in the beginning of the 1900s.

I have been looking for this book for over 10 years! I only read about a third of it before my mother found it and took it away ( I was 12 and VERY curious).

It was probably from the 90s. The cover was green I think with a circular cutout that showed the hero and heroine kissing. If you opened it there was a full pic of the usual heaving bosom. I'm not sure of the exact setting but I think it was England in the 1800s. All I can remember of the plot is that the heroine pretends to have a hunchback and limp and maybe a stutter to avoid marrying some rake who is being forced to pursue her for some reason. Probably money. She watched him have sex with his mistress when she hid in a wardrobe at a local inn. He realizes she is faking when he sees her riding one day and becomes intrigued.

That is all I can remember and even those details could be a bit off. Please help!

I am trying to remember a book but I never read the whole thing just the first chapter. Its set in the regency era and its a romance novel. The h is quiet, poor, and maybe even abused (in the past) and she marries a rich, title. H thinks h hates him and he isn't patient so they don't get along. She is out of style and his family doesn't like her. She goes for a ride in the rain and I think He goes looking for her? He is super protective. I know thats really lame but I would recognize the title or author if I saw it. I thought it was a name that started with "L" and had a "West" in it, but I couldn't find any authors like that. I have been looking for this book, literally for years. I'm desperate because I actually lost the book before ever finishing it.

I cannot remember why/how the couple ends up together, but the man is letting her live with him and taking care of her with the intent of finding her a husband eventually. The woman doesn't want another husband because she is falling for the man she lives with. I know there is more to it than that, but it's probably been close to 10 years since I read it. I think the cover may have been blue or had a lot of blue on it.

hi, brand new member here... i've been obsessed with finding the name of this book i read some years ago.

the heroine is a Quaker or Amish though i don't believe that ever being stated in the book. (she is a 'friend', even calling the king 'Friend George' and her prayer involves seeking the Light.) she marries the hero, uses the allowance he gives her to secretly open an orphanage, all the while she is being stalked by some other hulking guy (who is motivated by memories of his Quaker mother.)

Hi...so I've been becoming EXTREMELY annoyed because of a book I completely forgot the name to (and the authors name...and any of the characters names...)

I started it like...in January. It was a new release in the book store and I read about the first five chapters but never actually bought it. But I've been DYING to read it again. So...

There was this girl who was in a coma. And she was completely aware of everything around her but no matter how loud she screamed nobody seemed to hear her. She would slip in and out of "reality" (I guess), sometimes able to hear and see her hospital room and doctor and nurses and parents, but sometimes she would slip into a dream. I remember she had some dream about her older brother, who I sadly forgot the name to, but I know she loved him a lot. There were also newspaper clippings telling about how she got into the coma.

Driving me crazy! Pretty sure it was a Harlequin. H is the owner of the business; h works for him and is somewhat introverted. She was a late in life baby and her elderly parents recently died. I think there was a pet cat too. During some kind of company event the H and h sleep together but for some reason she doesn't really remember it. She starts coming out of her shell a bit - I vaguely recall she cuts her hair and dyes it platinum blond. I remember the end of the book he's standing at his office window watching her cross the courtyard of the building with three little girls in tow. Probably around 2005 time frame. One of the boys gets put in a prison for 20 years. This prison is in France. He was put in when he was 9/10 years old. The father is beheaded. Hello it's lovely that people go to such trouble to help others to identify lost books. I'm trying to recall a novel set in the middle ages. It will have been published in the 70s or 80s, but I can't remember by which company.

The plot: A girl is taken from a convent to be married to a stranger in exchange for the wife he had been promised, a relation of hers who has I think married someone else. The heroine is pleased to go from an austere life and unkind nuns, but is apprehensive as she has been told that she is ugly. She is not, though.
Any help would be much appreciated!

I've been looking for a book for a few years, my guess it was written in the 1990s, a contemporary romance novel. I do know that cover is the silhouette of a man running towards the capitol or another government building.? There were two main characters, a man and a woman, definitely romance throughout the book. One romance scene is they are in a cave with sleeping bags. They are both explorers/very rich and are searching for an object or treasure. They meet in the woman's mansion or family home. I do remember a passage where the woman has a hologram of the object in her office and the man comes in and says "woah, you have the__?!" I also remember a scene at the end of the book where the main female character is hanging off a cliff after fighting with another character. Pretty vague but hope someone can help!

I'm looking for a historical / western romance book that has a cover of a woman in a dress and near the back is a little boy in a wheelbarrow. The little boy has some type of disability that makes it difficult for him to move too much and he can easily get sick. Near the beginning, the someone gets married and a stove is pushed later inside a person's house. In the story the male love interest attaches a string to a hammer and to the boy's hands so he has a good grip to it while he hammers nails. Man throws the boy then the woman into a pile of leaves. The man brings the boy a dog and the boy wakes up from his sleep to it licking his face. The man and the boy participate in a wheelbarrow relay race. The little boy is placed in the barrow and screams out directions for the man to go to. In the end, the man ties a ring to the dog and that's how he proposes to her.

Hi I am looking for the name of a book.

The first ch in the back of another(which I now cannot find) started with a woman and her sister in a small cabin maybe. The sister is giving birth and the child had passed. The local royalty (duke, unsure) had an evil wife who had also just given birth. She sent her gaurd to kill her child or leave him else where I'm not sure. This is where I get a little hazy but the gaurd leaves the child with the sister who is dying after giving birth. The gaurd feels sorry fo the child possibly and gives them something saying one day they could use it to prove the child's identity. The ch ends with the girl burning her sister and leaving with the royaltys child.

Sorry I'm fuzzy on the facts. Any help would be greatly appreciated :)

okay i'm looking for a book i read recently that for some reason i can't remember the name or find the book. Its about a women (a) and a crippled man (b), b's brother, and a young women. a is asked to come to b's brothers estate because b cannot walk and is refusing to get help. So a comes and starts pushing him into trying, eventually b starts walking again and a and b marry. On the day of there wedding they go to the mill that b's brother owns to see what the commotion is about. While inside the boiler in the mill explodes and a and b try to help all the people hurt in the explosion. They then find that b's brother was killed when the explosion threw him against a wall. B is heartbroken but takes over the mill. We then find out that the young women that was staying with the family is b's brothers illegitimite daughter with one of the servants that he loved. A and the young women go to the mill and they are attacked by a religous man who confesses to blowing up the mill becasue it is wrong. He attacks a and almost kills her till the women from the mill show up then while the religous man is trying to get away a piece of the broken mill hits him on the head and kills him. ANd that's pretty much the ending. Sorry this is so ong but for some reason i cannot remember any names from this book, and i cannot find the copy that i own in my house. I would like the name or author so i can buy another copy.

Hi all! new to the group...found y'all by searching--in vain--for a book. Here's the basic premise: In probably Regency England, a girl is basically forced into being a courtesan to pay her family's debts. I think her father may be dead? Eventually she pays off the debts and gets out of the business. I don't remember how she meets or falls in love with the hero. Somehow the guy who the family owed adds more debts to force her back to being a courtesan and she goes to a friend/family member of the hero to borrow money. The hero defends her honor in front of a bunch of men who were going to bid on her or her services. Please help--it's driving me crazy!

hey all, I'm looking for a book I read probably in 2011 but it may be older than that. It was a Regency era romance. I read it on my Kindle but stupidly got rid of it and I want to read it again. I can't remember the author or characters' names, but here is what I do remember:

-the hero inherited a bankrupt title from his brother- the brother was going crazy and redecorating the mansion but spending all the money
-the hero and the heroine may have been childhood friends- I'm pretty sure they knew each other before
-the hero needs the heroine's money to restore the estate but of course there is drama and I remember him saying something like he would find a way to fix things without her money
-the hero's brother wanted the hero and heroine to be married and the only room in the mansion that was tastefully/perfectly done was her bedroom
-the main staircase was missing, the brother got rid of it but never replaced it (he sold everything for a pittance)

I've been trying to find this book but still to no avail.
It had a historical setting and the hero's name may have been "Quentin" (I tried the search bar but I could not find it). So the scenes that really stuck to me are the following:

*The heroine was a caretaker of the horses and was always untidy
*Heroine's father died so the main house had to take her in
*Hero has a bossy mother who made the heroine act as her personal maid
*PLOT TWIST: Heroine was in fact, a granddaughter of a rich Lord. She is said to be as beautiful as her mother (Grandfather recognized her when she went to the library when she was called)
*Hero was distraught when heroine had to leave with his grandfather
*Heroine came back, gorgeous and tempting as ever
*Hero is possessive as hell. One time, he offered the heroine some food from the kitchen but the kitchen staff was giving her the stink eye so she went out. A Lord from the nearby place had offered her food and even sat with her as they ate together. Hero saw all these and he was fuming.

I believe the heroine lived in the middle of the forest. I also remember her alcoholic father having a huge collection of books. It's not much but please give me a hand here.

The first I think is Harlequin Romance: A timid burly man who doesn't think he's worth loving. A farm house? Maybe? I think he was wet maybe from rain and needed a change of clothes??? Night time in dark kitchen.

Please can anyone help. I have been trying to find this book for a while. I read this about 15/20 years ago. Historical Romance. I think it was set during a war. Hero/Heroine were engaged/married, she was pregnant. She gets beaten by some men possibly soldiers for being a Protestant. She miscarries and gets amnesia. He hears the men/soldiers bragging about what they had done and attacks them in his rage and grief. He thinks she is dead. She becomes mistress to a Captain/Colonel, Hero works for the other side and captures her and does not believe her when she tells him she cannot remember them. They kiss and she whispers his name without realizing what she has said. He calls her a liar and does not believe that she does not know him, then hands her over to his friends after traveling a fair distance. It becomes known that she was actually a spy working for the his side called Angel i think it was. She gets caught and sent to prison for treason to be executed i think it was. He and his friends breaks her out. She gets really sick due to her imprisonment and he looks after her. In the end she tells him she was never the captain/colonel mistress as he was impotent. He was the only one that she had ever loved. Can anyone help please

This is a great topic! I'm just finding it a bit difficult to navigate between fulfilled and unfulfilled requests... but maybe I'm doing something wrong. Is there a way to group them together or something?

I also have a request of my own, if someone happens to remember the plot... it's a bit vague and I may be mixing two different books together in my head, but I think it's one of those "going back home" themes. They were maybe step-brothers (from different parents), but then there was also a little brother who I think is called Michael.
The girl already liked the H and she goes back home when their parents die in order to help taking care of Michael?

*She ends up choosing a room to sleep in only realizing it's the H's room when he comes back drunk in the middle of the night.
*They end up sleeping together for real, but it's a lousy experience for her as he was drunk and just went on with it.
*The next day he sees the blood and thinks he was violent with her until she explains it's just due to circumstances... From there on he tries to redeem himself and try to prove to her he isn't such a bad lover and it all can be a pleasurable experience, but she's not so sure...

I think there's also a scene where she and Michael go on shopping and end up wearing matching red t-shirts.
The H and h end up getting together again on board of his yacht or some trip like that...

If anyone can remember this book, please let me know. I don't think it's a recent book.

Well, I'm guessing it's not because it isn't set in the 17th or 18th centuries and her injury wasn't from when she was a child, but the plot sounds very similar to Journey Into Love by Jessica Logan. That's the closest one I can think of...

I used to have a romance novel on my old laptop but then it got a virus and I lost my 300+ collection of romance novels. There's this one book that I had just started reading but now I cannot recall the title or author. The book was about a woman from the present time and sent back in time after taking a nap in front of a portrait of a woman that looked exactly like her. She walks up in a different time era and this man is saying that he is her husband and that she left him/faked her death so that she could run off with someone else. There's also his real wife running around somewhere. He basically dislikes her because he thinks that she is pretending to have amnesia. That's as far as I got in the book. If anyone knows the book that I'm trying to remember, could you please tell me?

A young girl escapes the massacre of her family, late medieval period I think, Scotland England something to do with Roses. She is fostered by an old lord and married or betrothed to the son... Book is more political than bodice ripper. The girl also has the second sight and I think she weaves tapestries. The secondary plot, As I recall, the old lord has a real daughter that he wedded to a real asshole in a castle by the water, her name was elinore or Elizabeth etc and she comes home after almost being murdered by her husband by being stranded on a little island at low tide. the main heroine eventually falls in love with the son and some kind of mystery is solved about the murder of her family. Anyway, I read it in 1996 or so but the author and title have disappeared from my memory. I think there was a sequel about the Elizabeth but I never found it to read it. A female author. thank you!

Hi everyone SO glad I'm not the only one! :) I've been trying to remember this book.. a mix of mystery murder and romance. It starts out at a high school dance in the prologue about a girl named Karen. Who runs through a sort of Bush maze beside the school and finds her date I think his name was jake..dead and stuck to a tree with an arrow through him.. there were two other girls who ended up narrating as well who are from the beginning who are all tied to this boy. When the first chapter begins it is 20 years later and the Karen lady is a cop I believe. The only other girls name I can remember is Lauren. And I recall some narrating from the killer! So glad I found this site.
I hope someone can help me find this book, it's been 15 years since I read it but it has always stuck with me.

The book I'm looking for was possibly published in the 1980's - 1990's. It was set in England if memory serves me correctly, 17th or 18th century?, where the hero (I can't for the life of me remember character names) mistakes the heroine for his estranged wife (possibly ex wife). The heroine bares a striking resemblance to the estranged 'wife'. He assaults the heroine as he spots her near his home or possible on his estate (thinking she's the estranged wife) wanting to punish her for leaving him and his young son but is horrified when he realises that the heroine was telling the truth and is an innocent. The heroine also has a slight limp, an injury she suffered when she was a child and I think walks with a cane. After attacking her he takes her to his home and to tries to redeem himself in her eyes (not sure if he is titled, I'm assuming he is) and she meets his son.

Any thoughts would be most helpful.

I hope someone can help me find this one book i read like 5-7 years ago..
I can't recall the name of the book or the author.

Here are some details i remember about the book
1. The main character is overweight
2. She went to see a doctor of some sort.. Not sure if a nutritionist, a shrink or an obgyn.. (later in the story, the doctor fell in love with her)
3. She has an ex boyfriend and when his father dies, she went over to his house to cheer him up and ended up having sex with him..
4. She got pregnant from the encounter. Contacted the ex and never got a single reply. (jerk right?)
5. She lose a lot of weight after giving premature birth to her child and part of her brain shuts off for a while. Her premature baby is relying on the incubator.. She kept walking around (losing loads of weight during the process). One day she walked way too far and doesn't realize where she is and her shoe is worn off. A kind man helped her out by duct-taping her shoe and tells her which bus to take (i think)
6. Her doctor tells her to eat something (which goes against his practice or something)

basically the heroine in the novel returns to the Country of her past lover to be subjected to ridicule by him and the truth comes out when he finds out that they had a child that was miscarried and she was sent away by the lovers mother. The heroine came back to tell him the truth.

Hey im new and i need help finding a book i read a few years ago. I cant remember the author or title or character names. I believe the story takes place in Scotland/ Highlands not 100% sure. All i can really remember is that at the beginning of the book the heroes brother is captured and they try to bury him alive. They argue over whether to bury him feet first or head first and the heroine is hiding close by in some trees. When the hero shows up to rescue his brother the enemy starts to bury him and the heroine shoots one with a bow and arrow and they run away. I also think there is a part where one of the heroines brothers tells the hero about a time when the heroine saved his life by using her bow and arrows while following her brothers around. If anyone can think of the title or author please let me know i have been wanting to read it again.

Hi all! When I was a teenager, I raided my moms romance novel collection and ended up finding quite a gem. I believe she has since given it away, as when I went back to her house to look for it, it was gone. This is what I remember from it!;

- I believe it took place somewhere around the 16th, 17th, or 18th century.
- A Scottish nobleman who had recently been released from prison(?) came back home to find his wife completely and utterly transformed. Before he left, she had been unintelligent, careless, immature and inefficient. When he came back, she was smart, confident, and ran the estate rather well.
- It turned out that his wife had died while he was away, and her secret twin sister had taken her place
- The twins grew up in a convent, were the illegitimate daughters of a nun and the King of Scotland, and they were hidden away to protect them

I've been looking forever for these books and have even bought a few box sets of older Harlequin books off of ebay looking for it! Sadly, they were all a bit too old. Anyway, here's what I remember from the story lines...

BOOK 1 -

A couple - the man was rich, of course - met, fell in love (he sweeped her off of her feet) and got married. But when they try to have a baby and struggle, the man's doctor says he is sterile. Of course, he doesn't tell her this; and he struggles with watching her chart things (sex) out so they can conceive. He decides to let her go so she can have a family with someone else and be happy. But instead of telling her to leave, he pretends to have an affair (with his assistant, I think) so that she will leave him. She does; and, soon after, she finds out she is pregnant. He assumes she had an affair with the friend that helped her leave; so he tells her (in a letter, I think) that he doesn't want any claim to the baby or something like that. She suffers through heartbreak and ends up having a baby boy and owning an art gallery or something. Anyway, a few years later, her husband (or ex, I don't remember if they actually got a divorce or not) comes to her gallery and realizes the boy is his due because he's his spitting image at that age. He convinces (coerces) her to come back to him as his wife but doesn't tell her that he thought he was sterile and didn't ever really have an affair. I don't remember details at this point... but she ends up thinking he is still having an affair; and he ends up telling her the truth... and that they will likely not have any more children because his doctor said it probably wouldn't happen again. And she tells him he needs to get another doctor, because she is pregnant again! The End.

BOOK 2 -

A young female reporter goes to an island and runs into an ex-veteran-turned-celebrity who stays there in disguise and under a fake name so that no one will know who he is. I think his name was Slade or something but is going by Roy perhaps... but I could be way off base on the names. He hates reporters because of a war story that made him out to be a hero when he doesn't think he is... or something like that. Anyway, she doesn't tell him that she knows who he is; and at first she plans to write a story about him. They fall in love and have sex (she was a virgin). Then he finds her press badge and her first notes about meeting him; and he throws her out, saying something about how she was willing to "give it up" for a story. Fast-forward quite a few years where they have no contact... he tracks her down and finds out where she works and tells her new boss that he will do an interview; but only with her and only if she comes to the island. They spend time together on the island doing the interview; and on the last night, he shows up at her place for dinner and introduces himself as Roy instead of Slade. They argue; he insults her; he leaves; she gets drunk and goes to bed without turning off the oven. She wakes up to a smoke alarm and goes to open the oven; he bursts in and pushes her out of the way. He takes care of her that night and ends up reading a bunch of her articles (a friend brought them by) while she is sleeping and realizes he misjudged her because she doesn't write trash stories. She wakes up; they reconcile. The End.

I read a series - but only two of THREE that I am sure are in it - in the late nineties, and I've been trying to find them off and on since, with no luck.
Here's what I know. They are historical, there is a bit of fantasy/mystical to it as the heroines all have some quest/link. In two of the books there seems to have been an arranged marraige and the hero's friend actually ends up wedding his intended and it works out well for everyone. The book that stands out to me is one where the heroine had been held captive before her rescue, and the hero is reluctant, and also doesn't necessarily believe she's still "pure", miscommunication and drama ensues. Adding to his doubt (and this is how you know it was fiction), their first time together - and she is a virgin, she takes him on the castle walls while he is patrolling (and of course, as every hero is, he is built "impressively - so yeah, fiction, lol).

I won't say it was a great series. It's a matter of wanting to finish them!!

Hi all, I have been searching endlessly for a Scottish (i think) romance that i read a few years back. I vaguely remember the story line- but i remember it being a really funny book. It was one of your typical arranged marriages type.

The girls father either passes away or is very sick and she is forced to marry a Scottish laird. She has this weird connection with animals and such and is known as a "healer" of sorts. He is one of those alpha males and she is a strong personality too. I remember that she does something to upset him and he ties her to the dogs while having dinner. Also, on their wedding night- he uses some kind of cream to "make it easier" but she despises him. Anyways, there is a lot of back and forth of this kind and she travels with him back to his house as well. I remember her either having a compassionate maid or sister. If you guys can give any insight, that would be great! I remember it being a very good read! Thank you!

I'm attempting to locate a book I read in late 2003 or early 2004. It was one of those cheap romance novels, ya know. It was a historical romance. The male may have been returning from the crusades, thats all a bit blurry. Anywho, I'm fairly certain the book opens on the road with the main male character, he is on his way home I believe. When he gets to where he is going he meets a woman (I am pretty sure she had red hair). And thye always fought, and bantered back and forth. Even though, they ended up having "relations" and she becomes pregnant. I do recall a scene where she is watching him build a cradle for their baby, and she feels love for him in that moment.

I believe it had them on the cover with some sort of blue back ground.

Someone reccomanded Viking in Love, only it was published in 2010....I'm about 100 pages from the ending and nothing seems familiar so I don't think it's the book. Although how the two couple bantered and the covers are similar.

Any help would be appreciated.

The first I think is Harlequin Romance: A timid burly man who doesn't think he's worth loving. A farm house? Maybe? I think he was wet maybe from rain and needed a change of clothes??? Night time in dark kitchen.

I have been searching library catalogs for hours trying to find this book. I don't remember the title or author.
I remember that the heroine is a girl from a rich family. The main guy moves to town and buys a run down ranch. He used to be a police officer I believe. The scene I can most remember is that they are finally together and she has just moved in with him. She has a son. The guy is out riding horses with her son and she's in the kitchen cooking. The bad guy sneaks in and pins her on the counter.
I know it's not much to go on. I do know it is based in the us and is more moderen.

Hey all found this site today and am really hoping someone on here can help me find this book. I used to own it but it got thrown away on one of my cleaning out the clutter days and now I'm kicking myself in the butt. I believe the book is from Silhouette and i can remember the plot really well. Takes place in a hotel/casino where a woman goes to try and make more money by gambling her savings. I also believe she does a makeover to herself. She meets a man there who is a good gambler and he helps her double her money and they fall for each other.
I found one title that sounds similar but I'm fairly certain that it's not it so if you suggest Gambler's Woman by Jayne Ann Krentz I am aware of that title and plan to read that book just to be sure it's not the one I'm thinking of.

Hi! I'm looking for a historical romance that I read years ago. I can't remember title or author, but I know it was a well known historical romance author and the book is part of a series. I used to only read historical romance and I was waiting for the next in the series but got more into contemporary and UF. Getting back into historical and would like to start here, so hopefully someone can help. Here goes:
I believe it was an ongoing series that focused on more than one lead. It's based in London. I know one of the h was dealing with a bad guy sexy pirate that she was becoming attracted to. I'm thinking he may have been Spanish and she was having to make some kind of deal with? One of the other h dealt in a lot of charity but there was something about a group home or orphans she was trying to raise money for. Not sure if she was an orphan or teacher there at one time? Also, throughout the series there was a mysterious person going around helping people, like masked hero and we didn't know who it was, but I'm thinking that in the last book I read it was a female. I've been trying to find this historical romance novel that I read ages ago. I really can't remember the title or even the characters names for the matter but I remember really enjoying the book. The premise of the story is about a young girl she somehow ends up living with a wealthy dark skinned man, whom everyone holds in contempt. I have no idea when it was set, what year it was written and all I know is that the cover consists of the h wearing a flowing pink dress with the H grasping her waist and pulling her close to him. That is all I really remember. Ah, I also remember that he never laid a hand on her except for one instance in which he was either dreaming or drunk and thats the first and only time they made love. Hi everyone, I really need some help! There is this book I read a long time ago (probably 4-5 years). For the life of me I cannot remember the name of it nor the name of the author. I remember only parts of the plotline and a few pieces of the cover which could or could not be figments of my imagination. I really, really loved this book and would like to read it again if I could just figure out what it was! Here is everything I remember:
It was based in a fantasy/historical setting. The heroine lived up in the mountains(somewhere cold?) with her family and they made their money by breeding horses. Only her family knew the breeding secrets/linage and they protected it with their life. They kept the horses in an underground stable beneath the mountain.
One night during a blizzard she had to leave for some reason, while she was out she ran into some bad men (they were armed...so soliders?). Their leader gave chase during the storm and ended up catchung her and in his cold induced delirium raped her there in the snow. She ended up escaping and returning to her family never telling a soul about the episode.
I think like a month later a man comes to the keep to do business with her family, it ends up being the man that raped her only he has no recollection of the event.she obviously remembers him and habors hatred for him despite his longing to woo her. He does not understand her contempt for him.
I believe the cover was mostly white with her in a white dress standing next to a horse....I think she may have had red hair.

I have been looking for this book for over 10 years! I only read about a third of it before my mother found it and took it away ( I was 12 and VERY curious).

It was probably from the 90s. The cover was green I think with a circular cutout that showed the hero and heroine kissing. If you opened it there was a full pic of the usual heaving bosom. I am pretty sure the woman was sitting on top facing the man with her head thrown back. I can't remember if she had blond or red hair. I'm not sure of the exact setting but I think it was England in the 1800s. All I can remember of the plot is that the heroine pretends to have a hunchback and limp and maybe a stutter to avoid marrying some rake who is being forced to pursue her for some reason. Probably money. She watched him have sex with his mistress when she hid in a wardrobe at a local inn. He realizes she is faking when he sees her riding one day and becomes intrigued.

That is all I can remember and even those details could be a bit off. Please help!

I'm searching for a pirate romance where the heroine is from France and ends up on a pirate's ship. She loses her virginity to him, and then he takes her to a pirate island. She has one or more children by him and lives in her own house there, where he comes and goes. A very challenging relationship. Then soldiers or some other group take over the island, and the heroine and her children by the pirate end up in New Orleans. I think she ends up at a brothel. The pirate eventually finds her. The book would have been written in the 70's or 80's. This is driving me crazy! Thanks for any help you can provide!

I'm trying to remember this book, can't remember author or book title. Its a series of this family (can't remember exactly how many siblings) On of the books in the series is about a woman whose husband died of the measles (I believe) and she is left with her young daughter. She ends up working as a governess for the two youngest siblings, both girls, and is living in the house with them and their mother. The eldest son sees her and they start flirting. What I know is that the book stars similar to Morning Comes Softly. The heroin is a beautiful that is well love by her family. Though she and her friends are involved on finding match for people that are looking for a wife or husband. I read a book a loooong time ago and I only remember bits and pieces of the story, but I can't remember the title or author. It was a romance novel but, I don't remember it being very romantic. It was about a woman and her abusive, controlling husband (Leon??). They were intimate, but they weren't in love, and I believe they even hated each other a little (him for being abusive, her for "misbehaving" or something like that). They slept in separate rooms, though they were right next to each other. I remember him shaking her at one point in the story while they were fighting, and her robe falling open to reveal her either in her underwear or naked. Pretty sure they had sex or at least made out after that. I can't remember which, but one of them had a studio of some sort in the backyard, completely separate from the main house. The husband had two younger sibling and was in charge of when they both got their inheritances. He kept threatening to not let them access it until they were closer to their 30s. The sister was in university but I don't remember if the brother was too. I want to say that they were Greek, but I'm not 100% on that. I just know that they weren't American. Another thing I'm not 100% on: I believe the cover of the book portrayed a woman with dark hair lounging with a green dress on, with her head propped on one hand. I know this is pretty vague, but I'm hoping someone can help me out with this. Thanks!

Going cuckoo trying to remember the name of this book. I read it sometime in the 1970s and it was historical romance. The book begins with the heroine is being wooed by a dashing young man, one big scene of their first kiss in an apple tree (I remember he flicked an earwig off her bosom - I had to look up what an earwig was!) As they are horseback riding for some reason, hunt? party? she falls and is crippled for life. He disappears, possibly being told she had died (vaguely remember her family did not like him). In any case, the main part of the book takes place around twenty years later when he returns to the castle - she has been spending all these years in her wheel chair, basically the wise gentle woman, great aunt and confidante to all. I think she didn't want him to know she was there at first because she thought he left because she was crippled. I stopped reading just about when they were going to meet and then I lost the book!! Why I am obsessed with this some 30 years later is beyond me but there you have it. Maybe his name was Richard? Any suggestions would be most appreciated!

I can't get this book out of my head!! Please put me out of my misery... In the beginning of the book, the heroin has her car packed and she is just heading out to drive home to WY i think and she sees this guy (who ends up being undercover DEA) who is shot and he asks her to hide him and get home out of town. She buries him under some of her stuff and uses her big dog to help hide him. As soon as she gets on the high way she is stopped by a cop and he wants to search her car, she says not because there is not legal reason for him to. She gets a little freaked and once she is far enough away she changes the plates on her car to the old ones she never threw away...

I keep playing parts of this book in my head but i can't recall the name for the life of me.

Hello! Looking for some help with a historical romance. Hero's name was Rourke I believe. Heroine was Angelique (maybe) but he called her Angel. There was horses in the plot hero might have bred them and/or raced them. He asked her to be is mistress she got pregnant; hero found out about son years later. Ring any bells? She assumes her sister's identity to figure out who is trying to kill her sister and to give her sister more time to escape. She finds out her sister had a daughter she left behind, doesn't understand how she could do that. She finds the lord to be hostile, the marriage was not happy. As she lives with the lord and gets to know him she falls in love with him. Finds out her twin is not such a nice person.

1) 1980s/1990s M&B - Heroine agrees to go instead of room mate to meet room mate's (Latin American) fiance who room mate has not met (arranged marriage). Hero is dishy (of course) and decides to go along with pretense because he suspects foul play (cant imagine why a girl wouldnt want to marry him). Obviously H/H fall in love

2) 1980s/1990s M&B again. Heroine's dad / brother does some shenanigans at his work and gets caught. Boss/hero blackmails heroine into marrying him (never understood that tactic). Misunderstandings galore. Heroine pregnant; decides to leave (obviously that would be the perfect time, face-palm). She is starving in the streets of London (?Paris) and goes to an antique shop to sell the gold chain that holds her antique wedding ring. Shopkeeper recognizes ring since he sold it to hero in the first place and voila H/H are reunited. Hero has been suitably humbled by then obviously

I've been trying to find a book I've read years ago.
The cover book is a horse shoe I think, in red coloring.
The story starts with a Guy returning from his work in Europe, and he has a childhood friend that is a ranch owner, she did her school in Sorbonne once, and her sister is a cello player.
This guy is actually building his work empire because he would like to fulfill his dead brother's dream, including marrying his brother's sweetheart.
But even tough they are already become girlfriend / engaged I forget which one, the girl is did not really show her passion with him, instead choose to hang on with another friend instead. ( a woman )
That is why he ask his friend ( the ranch owner ) to be his flirt, to make his fiance jealous.
There was even a certain famous person in the book, that used to brick with the heroine's sister ( the cello player )
In the end, he became interested with his friend, the sister married the famous person, and the girlfriend then admits that she is gay.
Well that is the detail that i can offer.

Wondering if anyone recognises this book.

It's a contemporary romance that starts off with a single mother and her son walking into a town where her ex-husband conned many of the townspeople. She is penniless and was once wealthy before her ex-husband lies were discovered. Her ex-husband before he leaves gives the son a stuffed toy which contains a secret inside.

The mother walks around trying to find a job and comes across a pub/bar looking for hired help. The owner of the bar is an alpha male who turns her away at first and eventually accepts. He makes her clean the toilets and gives her food. What he doesn't realise is she is barely eating because she's hiding the food and sneaking it to her son. The bar owner eventually discovers her son and take the both of them into his care. During this time, the townspeople rally against her and someone is leaving horrible messages outside the house she is staying in.

I'm not sure but this may be the second book in a series. Think I'm dying slowly not knowing what this book is.

Her dead husband was conning everyone by being a TV evangelist minister that was really bilking everyone of their money, the whole town hates her. Gabe, the guy who hires her is still mourning the death of his wife and son.

Hi all, I'm looking for a book that I read a few years ago. I remember quite a bit about the plot and the heroines name was Shelby I believe. It was a historical romance set in Texas. Shelby was blind and lived with her father on their small ranch. Her father was murdered and shelby heard the killer but since she was blind he let her live. Her neighbor is the son of a wealthy cattle man and an undercover Texas ranger and who helps her on the ranch and protects her from the killers. They marry and have children at the end of the book. I've been trying to find this book for months so any help would be great. Thank you!

Hi guys, I am hoping someone will be able to help me identify this book.

It's a historical romance and this is what I remember about the characters & plot:

Hero - cold; somewhat indifferent
Heroine - older; spinster; wears conservative and dreary clothes

At the beginning of the book the heroine is going to the chapel to tell her sister's fiance (the hero) that her younger sister ran away the night before. The heroine actually helped her younger sister run away so that she wouldn't be forced to marry the cold-hearted hero. However the hero had made a deal with the heroine's father, and then she is forced to marry him in her sister's wedding gown on that day. The rest of the story is them getting to know each other and falling in love...

Other things:
- the younger sister of the heroine might have been her step-sister.
- the heroine's parents (father & step-mother?) don't care about her
- the heroine felt very uncomfortable in her sister's wedding dress because it was to small for her
- at a later point in the book the heroine realizes that her parents knew that the younger sister would eventually run away and that she would end up marrying the hero

I don't remember much about the rest of the story, but the first part of the book has been on my mind for a very long time.

I just looked it up and read the sample, but no sadly its not the same book. Although it is similar, for it also has a wedding at the beginning. The book I was looking for had a conversation between the heroine and hero before the wedding where she explains about the runaway sister and the wedding comes after.

Heroes' name might be Gavin
Not sure how they end up together.
But she hates him for it.
He seduces her frequently and there is a scene in a garden at a ball where they have sex on a bench or something like that and afterwards she opens her hand to see it full of blood from crushing a rose in her hand. She tells him that he owns/ controls her body but not her heart/ soul.

There is also a scene where he seduces her in a chair ( I think this is the first sex scene between the Hero and heroine)
Title was probably one word but a long word like Scandalous or Temptations ( used these keywords on both Amazon and Google and didn't find it)
They end up happily married

The book is definitely not by jo Beverly or Kathleen Kane or Catherine coulter.

Hi! I've been trying to figure out this book for nearly a year now.

What I remember is that it was published pre-2005. It's a modern romance novel and it all starts with the woman getting the man's wrong mail and having to constantly return it to him (they're neighbors at an apartment complex). Except that one day, she discovers that he's ordered a book that basically gives hook-up tips. She thinks it's because he's awkward/bad at dating, but in reality, he's the author of the novel. He ends up playing along with it, and the two of them go through the book together. He eventually gets busted on a television show, and he admits to her that although everything was "by the book" (that he wrote), he had genuine feelings for her. Happily ever after.

Other highlights I remember from the book: she ends up wearing the color purple on a later date, and he tells her that purple is actually the color that women wear when they're sexually frustrated (they refrained from sex until the book gets to it). He has sisters who gave him those sort of fashion tips. The sixth chapter of the book that he wrote is about sex (and she prods at that irony).

If anyone could help, that would help out so much.

4. i'm really interested with the book that #22 searching:

...historical romance.. with heroine from future with cancer...she was touring Europe (as her dying wish) when in one of the houses she was looking at she collapsed from her sickness...when she woke up she was expecting hospital but she was in the same house but different time... she switched soul with another woman from that time..the other woman had a suicide she was a bitch with extreme taste in sex..the other woman was married to a gentleman and had a daughter...but they were having marital problems....the guys does not believe the girl cause she still have the scar in chest which she acquired when she dallied with someone...but the heroine know how to swim which the other woman does not so...the guy got thing

hey all, I'm looking for a book I read probably in 2011 but it may be older than that. It was a Regency era romance. I read it on my Kindle but stupidly got rid of it and I want to read it again. I can't remember the author or characters' names, but here is what I do remember:

-the hero inherited a bankrupt title from his brother- the brother was going crazy and redecorating the mansion but spending all the money
-the hero and the heroine may have been childhood friends- I'm pretty sure they knew each other before
-the hero needs the heroine's money to restore the estate but of course there is drama and I remember him saying something like he would find a way to fix things without her money
-the hero's brother wanted the hero and heroine to be married and the only room in the mansion that was tastefully/perfectly done was her bedroom
-the main staircase was missing, the brother got rid of it but never replaced it (he sold everything for a pittance)

I'm looking for a book I read a few years ago, but I'm not sure when it was published. The book was set mainly in England while Napoleon was trying to take over Europe. The heroine was a French girl who was kidnapped and threatened to be killed if she did not help be a spy. She had a distant cousin living in England, who was a duke and involved in the English government. She showed up at his house (in order to fulfill her kidnapper's wishes) but pretending to be widowed and penniless. The duke decides to let her stay and she becomes his son's nanny. Over the course of the book, they become attracted to each other and they sleep together. In doing so, he realizes that she was a virgin and was not married as she previously said. It's not until the end of the book, however, that he realizes that she is a spy. She had been meeting boats and passing along messages at night. I don't remember her name, but her spy name was L'Aigle, or the Eagle in French. Once she is confronted, she explains her situation and the duke loves her at this point and promises to take care of things so that she is not killed or imprisoned.

I hope I'm not repeating any other requests but I'm trying to find a book.
I can't remember the character names or the author but it takes plaplace in England (I think) and the heroine has dreams about a guy and her aunt does a spell to bring him to there (he's from the past) and the girl rejects him at first, not realizing he's the guy from her dreams. She is also being courted by or engaged to a real prick. The aunt and the heroine's father (?) Also fall in love. Any ideas???

I have been desperately searching for a book I read sometime ago. It was a time travel novel. My memories are hazy, but I remember it started in "contemporary" America. The heroine is really sad, can't recall why, and in the very beginning of the story walks out into the Atlantic Ocean outside her beachside house in an attempt at suicide. Somehow, she wakes up on the beach in the past. I remember she wanders along the beach and finds other people (there may have been a storm, and the people are survivors from a shipwreck-this is starting to sound crazy, I know). She does CPR, and saves a woman (who had drowned), and the hero is shocked at how she did this (CPR wasn't a concept at the time). Anyway, after many trials/tribulations and a mystery, they end up together. I think it might have been around the time of prohibition and I believe the hero was a detective (a private investigator maybe?). If anyone knows the title of this book, I would greatly appreciate it. Thank you in advance.

I'm looking for a book I read last year. Contemporary suspense/romance. I think it was the first in a series about 4 or 5 brothers in Colorado. Their father was a cop killed in the line of duty. The one I read, the main character was an undercover agent whose cover was an actor. He helps a women running away from her husband who is an assassin. She and her son hide in the actors house. It blows up, so they go to his brothers for help. One brother owns a bar, one does computers, one is deputy sherriff.

hi everyone! ok so im hoping to get some held in finding this book, it is a weird mix of historical and science fiction romance. I can’t remember the writer or the title but I remember a bunch of details so I hope that's enough and someone can help me because its driving me nuts! Here goes, the hero has a pet wyvern that is super loyal and he dies in a battle while protecting the hero. The heroine has red hair and she is wary of men because she and a friend(it might have been her sister of cousin) were kidnapped and raped when they were teenagers but she really likes the hero and they end up on a boat together. one of them(I think the guy) falls over board when this big sea monster thing attacks them and gets sick with a fever and the other one has to take care of them. also, the heroine finds out about her family (I think she was adopted as a child) and is on her way to see meet them (hence the boat trip) and when she get there she finds out that her grandmother is dying from some illness but it turns out she isn't really sick, her maid is poisoning her with her own hand lotion! Ok that’s most of what I remember so I hope someone knows what im talking about! thanks so much!

It only took 5 years for me to figure out what book it was! I can only hope I like it as much as I remember liking it. We shall see!

Really bugging me. I am looking for a book that is from the 1980's to mid 90's that was a series romance probably Silhouette. I remember really enjoying the book, but I don't remember many facts. Set on a ranch with horses. Heroine goes to ranch to possible get away/hide from some danger. I believe that she may fall from the horse/encounter a rattlesnake. At the end, she falls over a cliff and lays injured until the hero finds her. Any ideas?

I am looking for a contemporary romance. It is probably from at least a decade ago, maybe more. I am pretty sure it was a Harlequin.
The plot line centered around a divorced couple whose son was kidnapped around Christmas. I am pretty sure the father was also a cop, and his partner was involved in the kidnapping.
It was the first romance novel that I read, and I have been trying to find it for years. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Also, the cover was blue. And I think it had a picture of the couple and their son around a Christmas tree.

Her husband knows the child isn't his but is happy because he didn't have any children. he watches over the mother and daughter and keeps them secluded so he won't loose them

many years later he seeks her out or meets her and rescues her from her husband, he knows her child is his on laying eyes on her cos she looks just like his mother.

the book narrates their love story and struggle to stay together because her husband is still alive.

KIng later bestows him with his own title and his family is happy.

the heroine becomes pregnant again with their 2nd child but they are unable to marry... his family is anxious because they dont want the child also born out of wedlock, esp if it is a boy who will be unable to inherit like his father couldnt

i remember the hero's mother was a red hair, cos his daughter looked just like his mother and that his family were especially close...

Hi everyone.....I'm a newbie to the site and of course to the group. I'm trying to find the title of a book that I read 6-8 years ago. I remember some details but what I do remember is sadly vague.

First I do know its set in Texas sometime between the 1800s and 1900s.

I also know that the book starts off with a woman riding in a stage coach and it ends up getting robbed and they take something of hers that's important.

I also believe she ends up at a saloon/hotel and while she's sleeping a guys walks in either the wrong room or someone sends him up there on purpose.

She ends up going to live with him and his family.

There's a scene where they have sex by the lake on his property.

They end up getting married.

She gets pregnant.

Then she gets kidnapped and he has to go rescue her.

Hopefully someone can help me out. Been trying to remember the name of this book for years.
