Nothing special here. I just did it, traditional method, ie whatever you want. One wrong guess about as wrong as could be. Scored 22266.

Same wrong guess as stellarexplorer. I've made that wrong guess before and I think the vegetation and terrain is just so similar it's hard to know.

Otherwise, I just didn't have the patience to drive far enough to get more than a general idea of where I was. Did use Google on #1 and learned some interesting things about local laws.

Using both Safari and Firefox, I've tried to get into geoguessr (both the above link and the general link) several times yesterday and this a.m. without success. Other web sites contacted work fine. Geoguessr's site must be swamped or down?

I'm into geoguessr finally, but it's freeze prone while going (or, not going) down the road - especially on rounds 4 & 5. 1 & 2 were pretty good at 6279 & 6447 and then downhill. Total of 19342.

Enlarging a bit on #3, I've had problems getting into geoguessr, although not the past couple of days. I've also had geoguessr's map freeze up on me when "going down" the road. There doesn't seem to be anything you can do about it other than start over. And, of course, you lose wherever you are in a geoguessr game. Anyone else have issues similar to these with geoguessr?

I'd think that it was me, but every other site I use seems okay.

Aulsmith, I think that you're up to bat on Thursday, 7/25 & ending Tuesday, 7/30. I think that I'd go back to using the topic "Join In - Geoguessr Challenge" (without a date), so we don't litter Maps & Atlases too much.

I hope more join in to play...

Okay, I'll try to get to this later today.

I did want to talk about how one might tell the difference between the South African veldt and the Australian outback. I've mixed them up several times now and still don't have a clue. The vegetation looks the same to my untrained eye. And the unimproved condition of the roads makes me think Africa, not Australia (not that there aren't unimproved roads here in New York). Has anyone found some clue to use?
