Hi!

I got the user-2-user tool working in Second Life enough to do an alpha test with other interested users.

If you want to try this tool, send an IM to Joel CiscoSystems (me) or send a note to me here at LibraryThing.

Here is its documentation:

This little gadget will tell you when other LibraryThing users also wearing this tool come near you. If it discovers another LibraryThing user wearing this gadget, it will tell you all of a book you share between your libraries.

The only command you need to worry about issuing is the following. Type it into your chat window:

/58 ltname librarythingnick

Where librarythingnick is your LibraryThing nickname. For example, if your LibraryThing nickname is GreenDragon, you would type:

/58 ltname GreenDragon

There are a whole bunch of other commands you can use:

/58 reset

-- Resets the tool if it breaks. It loses your ltname - so re-do that command when you are done!

/58 off

-- Turns off the device, in case you do NOT want to be found by other LibraryThing users at this time.

/58 on

-- Turns on the device.

/58 state

-- Tells you all about the state of the tool.

/58 another

-- The tool only tells you once per 'visit' with someone else of a book you share. (When you see them again later, another book will be shown.) But if you want to find out about another book you share, just type this command, as often as you wish.

/58 help

-- Pops out this notecard. But you know that, because you already have it. :o)

This is so cool!

We need to schedule some sort of meetup. Anyone around tomorrow (Wednesday) night, eastern time?
