I have been known to spend frivolously and unwisely :(

#2 This is a difficult clue. All I can think of are lixiviate and dissipate.
#3 sorry, not delegate.
#4 maybe you mean profligate - super word, but not the one.
#5 any of these? depreciate, underestimate or denigrate? ( the last one is my favourite)
Google wanted me to write favorite.
Not lixiviate, dissipate, delegate, profligate, depreciate, underestimate, denigrate and, while I'm on line, not coagulate or conglomerate either ( in case rodney meant one of those)

#6 My word in #4 isn't that excellent word profligate :(
I live a life of pleasure especially with respect to alcoholic consumption.

It's not part of the solution. (Chemistry joke.)

I haven't joined in one of these things lately, but this looks like a nicely meta moment to do it.
14oldstick
#10 consolidate? I was never a scientist. Also, I have realised that there are far too many words ending in 'ate' so I'm giving a clue. My word has four syllables.
#7 ingrate?
#7 ingrate?
15brightcopy
Not consolidate.

17> There ya go.

Probably not a hyphenated tetrasyllable, but Iʻll try:
Al Gore, John Kerry, John McCain, and Mitt Romney are
__ __ - __ __ __ __ __ __ __ __ __s of this century.

__ __ - __ __ __ __ __ __ __ __ __s of this century.

AAHHHH, I'm getting lost. Sorry darsu, I don't know what a meta moment is-something like a perfect time, I would guess. kathi, I know Obama was elected but he was also beaten in some votes but I can't think of a word that fits. roland, your guess can't be my word and I don't think you meant candidates as there are too many spaces.
I'll recap and reiterate. The word has four syllables and I wish I had never started this!
Not lixiviate, underestimate, coagulate, conglomerate, delegate, denigrate, depreciate, participate, ingrate, appropriate, inebriate, profligate, consolidate.
If I get another turn it will be an easy one!

What Americans did to Barack Obama last January was "inaugurate" him for the second time.
Oldstick, I feel your pain. After the momentary pleasure of winning a round, I realized that it was going to be much harder work to be the lead person!

I'll admit #11 was a bit obscure. I meant that I was joining in the round to guess "join in".
25rolandperkins
(for) "candidates". . .there are too many spaces." (21>22)
Yes, the guess WAS "candidates" preceded by an "ex-", which explains the extra 2 spaces.

26oldstick
Darn, I'd just guessed inaugurate. It's also NOT nominate, intemperate, intoxicate, accurate, investigate or co-operate. Have I left anyone out? (louminus's third word?)

The rate of change of the speed of suggestions seems to be positive, or is it negative (two related suggestions).

I long have been a stranger here,
And so return with sense of fear.
I hope you can relieve my gloom;
Perhaps provide me with a room?

31oldstick
Not dissipate, accelerate, decelerate, intimidate or domesticate. #30.Is the fear the clue, or the room?
34oldstick
kathi - I have just found 'prestigitate' Is that what you meant? I didn't even know it existed. I was going to try for 'innacurate' but without much hope as it is the wrong part of speech.
jim, you always give me a hard time - all I have so far is 'tolerate' and it's too short.

38oldstick
I refuse to give up but it is still eluding me, jim. I don't think it can be incarcerate or domesticate. There are still too many options. I'll work on it.
kathi - it should be pulsate but that's too short. It could be palpitate but that doesn't seem right.
I'll go through all the wrong answers next time.
Meanwhile - the first letter is to be found among the first three letters of the alphabet.

My blood is thickening. Sorry - just checked back and see that "coagulate" has already been eliminated.
41justjim
//I could claim my guess at #30 was still valid, it having four syllables and starting with "A", were it not for the fact that if it was your word, you would surely have recognised it! I could give it up, but not if you want to keep working on it.//
44oldstick
Got it Jim! accommodate! Don't know why it took me so long.
I haven't got one of yours, yet, kathi, but you are getting perilously close with annihilate.
Not appropriate, consolidate, coagulate, conglomerate, accurate, co-operate, or accommodate.

A "barbiturate" will help me sleep tonight.
If I'm "perilously close with annihilate" then I'm going to shut up and let somebody else win!
If I'm "perilously close with annihilate" then I'm going to shut up and let somebody else win!
46oldstick
kathi - if that's a clue - you have already won but I dare not tell you the result in case you really don't want to be the winner!
47kathi
Actually my last comment wasn't a clue - I really didn't want to win because I didn't have time to start a new round. I'm president of the Syracuse Chorale and we just finished a week of dress rehearsals and performances of our annual cabaret and I was just too distracted and overwhelmed. But, it's over now (and quite successful) and the following statement is a clue:
I won't wipe out the whole lot of you, but I am going to kill your leader.
I won't wipe out the whole lot of you, but I am going to kill your leader.
49Jenni_Canuck
Shall I make a prediction?
50kathi
I've been toying with the manner of your death, but I have decided that I shall smother you with a pillow.
51oldstick
#49. not anticipate, #50 it can't be suffocate because that has too few syllables and does not begin with a, b, or c so it must be assassinate! So aggressive!
54Jenni_Canuck
In short, I think it’s time to speed things up! I will collect all the clues and try highlight the solution. Unless, of course, you’re trying to make me feel like I don’t belong? I do try to express my thoughts and ideas clearly and effectively.

Not accelerate, accumulate, affiliate or articulate, accommodate, appropriate, consolidate, coagulate, conglomerate, co-operate. I know I haven't found them all yet but the clues do not suggest the right answer. I still need to find the 'not belonging' word. I'll be back tomorrow.
56Jenni_Canuck
#55: Three out of six correct: accelerate, accumulate, articulate. All six words begin with 'a'.
57kathi
I confess that I previously threatened to annihilate, assassinate, or asphyxiate you. I apologize and I wish to make things more bearable (clue 1) by reducing the intensity (clue 2) of my threats. I solemnly declare (clue 3) that I now loathe and abhor (clue 4) my previous behavior.
Please forgive me. Nothing must be allowed to do this (clue 5) to your affections.

A politico-economic device that is tetra-
syllabic: Tea Partiers say: "Better a
Do-Nothing Government than one that over-reaches
And does too much! Our crowd teaches
Good Governmental Behavior:
"__ __ __ __ __ __ __ __ __ __!!!"
Is the watchword, if you want to be not just good but GREAT!

Does anyone have an antacid? I know you will sympathize but I’m not sure I should give up. Obviously, I'm not explaining myself clearly. Maybe we can work together and build a monument to the great Celestial Crambo although we may need to select someone to help focus our efforts?

61oldstick
#Jenni - hidden in your guesses is the correct answer. I really think you should, at least, I am going to 'capitulate.' That saves me trying to work out another of roland's suggestions. Never again will I choose a word with so many options!
62Jenni_Canuck
Some would say, therein lies the rub. But, more options makes for a greater challenge and, for me, therein lies the fun!
