A Blink of the Screen

Has anyone else discovered A Blink of the Screen which is a compilation of all the published short stories by Terry Pratchett.

I am about halfway through it at the moment and it makes interesting reading. He published his first short story when he was thirteen years old and they get better as he gets older.

"The High Meggas" (1986) is the precursor of The Long Earth and DEATH appears in "Turntables of the Night" (1989).

I haven't got as far as the Discworld ones yet and am looking forward to reading them.

I bought it as an e-book; I'm not sure if it is available in paper form or not.

It's definitely available in paper, in fact I have a copy sitting atop my TBR pile right now! I haven't started it yet, but I've read some of his shorter works that are available online and liked them, so I'm looking forward to it.

It is well worth a read and I am enjoying it immensely. If it is available in paper form I'll probably get it to add to my Pratchett collection

It's worth it! I liked "The Sea and all the Little Fishes" the best. The story about the chickens was also pretty memorable.

I have got as far as the one about the chickens but haven't stated it yet. I like to collect my Pratchetts in hardback - they last through more re-reads.

Maybe you can help me.....I don't think I am obsessive about my Pterry hardbacks.. but............someone just saw A Hat Full Of Sky on my shelf and asked to borrow it. So I bought another hardback copy and lent them that. I ask you, is that weird, sisters?

Not even slightly! Very sensible, if you ask me. I have hardcovers of everything from Soul Music on, which are my First Read copies. Then I have paperback copies of everything, which are my "in the bath" or "on the bus" or just general reading copies, so my hardcoverrs stay beautiful. And can be accessed if someone else is reading one that I want to read right now.

I have downloaded some of the Pratchett books onto my Kobo for reading in the train and for odd moments when I only have time for snatches of reading. I am current;y reading Mort that way, having just finished Interesting Times in snatches. I am also re-reading Feet of Clay properly as a book.

That sounds great - any more news, a more firm date for this?

11 I had received an e-mai l from amazon UK a couple of months ago. The e-mail stated that the publishing date had slipped so they were supplying me with revised delvery dates. I didn't look too closely at the revised dates, I saw October and presumed 2013, but following your enquiry I have just checked on amazon UK and the quoted date there is 23rd. October 2014 and after checking the received e-mail this is close to the revised delvery dates.

So currently not due for over a year in the UK, I have no idea what dates, if any, exist for the rest of the world.

Thanks for the info. I found this after posting my query but the year had slipped past me, I assumed it was 2013. But then it turns out to be 2014 :-(
