I did need to remove the oxidation from the badge.

Were you restoring its finish? Nothing else is coming to mind.

Not polish, finish,

Lots of it scattered around the house? Can't be, it's too easy.I think #2 might have been tarnish.

You're prolly right about #2. That was a much better fit.

The possibilities for #4 are endless and entertaining. Hashish doesn't really rhyme, but it's too amusing to omit. Various kinds of fish provide intriguing images (Crambo's word is not a type of fish). But I'll guess rubbish for #4. Let me know if I need to look further.

Not polish, finish, tarnish, *fish, rubbish,

Yes, #2 was tarnish.

Wake up, Jim. We sit on it, eat on it, sleep on it. I suppose the word 'scattered' fooled you. Maybe that is only my house, the rest of you place it carefully!( Come to think of it, it might have been the use of a noun, rather than a verb -sorry)

We eat, sit, sleep, etc., on furniture, after we have furnished our houses--it that what you had in mind?

Not polish, finish, tarnish, *fish, rubbish, furnish,

Sure thing, but now I'm wondering if Crambo allows only one vowel sound at the end of a word to rhyme. If all we are looking for is'ish' that leaves a great deal of choice. If we are looking for'nish' that narrows it down, but if we are looking for'urnish' or 'earnish' you have me stumped.I'm very new to this game but , boy, is it fun!

Glad you're enjoying the game. We've been flexible about how much of the word rhymes. In this particular case, both syllables rhyme, but the consonant between them is different.

I'm hungry; here in the Chicago area it's well past time to put on the feed bag.

Sorry, bb, you'll have to depend on the game to nourish you.

That I can accept, thanks. Now to get up to date, study hard and impress everyone with my knowledge. Or is that......?

I'm feeling whimsical and mischievous so, "watch out..." That's not a clue.

I gotta feed the crabby canine, I have his food but, where is the _ _ _ ' _ .. _ _ _ _? Two words... two periods only to separate them.

#13 I'm not sure if you're looking for a description or a reaction, so I gave one of each, tho I'm not particularly happy with either.

#14 Munn, are you sure you're not channeling Roland somehow?

Not polish, finish, tarnish, *fish, rubbish, furnish, nourish, bookish, amateurish, cur's dish,

That it should be a proper name
Is something I've been known to wish.
SHe was before my time,
but: how about the great Lilian __ __ __ __?

(Jim, I didn't think that was an acceptable word - I was trying for 'nerdish' but I think the next one is more likely.)This is taking up too much of my attention, although I don't want to seem ungrateful.

A lot like my last one at #14 is a well known, middle eastern people yearning to be free and have their own state. And, just to be clear, I don't mean that they are anything like a dog's dish.

I spend a lot of effort just being clear. Apparently, there lurks in the old bean an excessive desire to do so.

With this particular Crambo, the word is never a proper name. Not even Gish or Kurdish (which at least has the correct rhyme scheme). Nor, in this case, is Crambo's word an adjective formed by adding -ish to a noun. In fact, Crambo's word is a noun.

Not polish, finish, tarnish, *fish, rubbish, furnish, nourish, bookish, amateurish, cur's dish, nerdish, Gish, Kurdish,

#18 was a two-fer and two Crambo nouns. The last sentence contains the route to the second noun.

Maybe playing Crambo is a little like this - an irregular or unpremeditated battle of wits - except that it is fairly regular, and there is a fair bit of meditation being provoked!

Neither a fetish nor a skirmish.

A little sprig of parsley will supply Jim Crambo with the answer - maybe...

Not this time, I fear. Crambo isn't looking for a garnish.

The capitalisation of this ascetic is a bit erratic. I'm getting dizzy!

Perhaps it's from all that whirling. Crambo's word is indeed "dervish." Well done, and thanks to all for your persistence.

Thanks Jim. My wife calls it stubbornness!

The first new game for the new year is over here.
