I am going to have to re-read all the books again. Phrases are familiar but I can't pin them to any book in particular ... as has probably been obvious over the past few months.

I've read A Blink of the Screen, not Once More with Footnotes. However, I've spent so long thinking that I'd never be able to read "Troll Bridge" because it was only in Once More with Footnotes, that I guess the two have become permanently associated in my mind.

Nice, actually nailed one! Well, here goes, then:

"For the vampires, it was a place to hang up. For the werewolves, it was where you let your hair down."

Hogfather?

None of the above, so here's how the quote goes on:

"For the bogeymen, it was a place to come out of the closet. For the ghouls, it did a decent meat pasty and chips."

Still no luck, but maybe this helps a little. In the first quote, there's an asterix. I'll post that here, in its context:

"For the vampires *, it was a place to hang up.

* Those, that is, who weren't gathered around the harmonium at the Temperance Mission nervously singing about how much they liked cocoa."

Also, the book's not a Watch one.
