I think that was in Feet of Clay - but wherever, it wasn't the scene this originated in and the quote didn't come from Jingo.

The they are probably the rat-catchers in The Amazing Maurice and His Educated Rodents - I just cannot place it anywhere else...

I've just startd to re-read from #1 :-)

I am going to have to re-read all the books again. Phrases are familiar but I can't pin them to any book in particular ... as has probably been obvious over the past few months.

If you have started re-reading from #1 then I will guess The Colour of Magic, not because I remember any talking horses but it is as good a guess as any other I could make.

Is this Once More with Footnotes? Anyway, it feels like the short-story "Troll Bridge."

And I thought I was being so clever by mentioning I had started from #1 (up to Guards!... now)

ETA. Who can afford even a 2nd hand copy of once more with footnotes ? On Amazon a new one is close to $1000 and second hand about $500.

I've read A Blink of the Screen, not Once More with Footnotes. However, I've spent so long thinking that I'd never be able to read "Troll Bridge" because it was only in Once More with Footnotes, that I guess the two have become permanently associated in my mind.
