I am starting a 4th and 5th grade book club; one for boys and one for girls. Can anyone recommend some excellent titles? I'm especially interested in mysteries.

If you're looking for multiculturalism/African-American work....
There's Zora and Me, but caution that this one requires some careful adult supervision because it could be read as endorsing separate-but-equal. Here's my review.
Also, one of my all-time favorite books (not just middle-reader, but favorite books period): One Crazy Summer. I wouldn't at all call it a "mystery" but there is a police matter involved and a clever twist that, well, sorta involves law enforcement ... but I don't want to say more to avoid SPOILER.
ETA: Both of these books have girl protagonists.

The westing game would be good for both boys and girls.
When you reach me is perhaps better for girls, especially if they've read A wrinkle in time, but still great even if they haven't.
