Hello bird and book lovers
I have recently moved to Mexico and I am looking for a bird watching guide for my new home country. I have not yet found an interesting guide while browsing thé local bookshops, so I'm wondering if some of you would have any suggestions.
Thanks in advance!

Hello raton!
The best guide by a long way - though it's a hefty tome for lugging into the field - is Howell and Webb's Guide to the Birds of Mexico and Northern Central America. Fifteen years on, this is still THE guide to any of the countries in this region. If you are looking for something more portable, there are several choices, all of them unsatisfactory - Peterson might be your best bet, or perhaps the van Perlo checklist.
Happy birding!

Good luck with the birdi watching in your new home. Remember to tell us what you see.
Best wishes,

Thanks Chris for the recommendation.
Unfortunately, bookshops here in Mexico do not seem to have a huge bird watching section. I found only one book this week-end, Aves de Mexico by Peterson et al. It was cheap, which is good because the quality of the printing is poor and there are no maps to locate birds! But well, at least the Spanish version has all 1,038 birds from Mexico, (as well as Guatemala, Belize and El Salvador, I think), and we will have to use this for the time being, and try to order to one you suggested from abroad maybe…
Bigpinkchimp – the feeding house for colibris is working! We get the visit from a colibri on a daily basis now. It’s so quick that we have not identified it yet… To be followed :)
