On WonderaDay:

No connections just found the pictures beautiful.

Lots of views of pu-erh disks, nest, and unusual formations! (Pu-erh teddybear? That is a first on me!)

That is wonderful. I wouldn't even be able to decide which vendor(s) to visit!

Wow! Just 'Wow!' - I'm too gobsmacked to say anything else. I think I need a cup of tea.

Obviously, this is a whole-sale market. Much of what is shown in the pictures is lower grade tea (as judged by the prices, e.g. 35 - 50 yuan per half kilo).

Tea lovers will often buy tea at 50 - 100 (to 200) yuan per 50 grams depending on the type of tea. (also whole-sale)

I usually do my tea shopping here (see pictures below).

These are pictures of the Tea mansion, which is just one of four or five such huge 4-storey buildings, along a street which is lined with tea shops on both sides for half a mile, called Maliandao Street (just south of the Beijing West Railway station).

I did not make these photos myself but found them on a blog.

Thanks, edwinbcn. For me this adds graphically to the expression 'for all the tea in China'!

I opened this thread to see the tea market photos. However, as I am in Shanghai without a VPN, I am afraid my access to the wonderaday site appears to be blocked. Here in Shanghai I buy tea at The TianShan Tea City, which is like the Tea mansion shown in edwinbcn's interesting photos: approximately four storeys crammed with small shops selling a wide variety of Chinese teas and tea ware. I also buy tea when I visit my two favourite tea houses: a traditional tea-house perched over a small river in a water-town in south-west Shanghai; and one rather different one owned by a French expat with a passion for tea in what was the French concession.
