I've read the book, seen the movie and have now borrowed the audiobook. I'm not sure whether I like Sissy Spacek's narration.... Any opinions? :)

Her narration seems very sloooow!

I just earread this one within the last 2 months. I thought she was "okay". Not terrible, not great.

Mm, I absolutely loved her reading and count it among the highlights of my audiobook experiences thus far. She captured Scout's voice perfectly.

I agree totally with wisewoman. Sissy brought that wonderful book to life.

I didn't read the book until a few years ago (my mid-30s, shame on me for waiting so long), and I fell totally in love with it. I listened to this audio version several months later, and I thought it was excellent -- and later listened to it a second time. It's on my short wishlist of "audiobook CDs I love enough that I'd actually buy them!" ;-)

(Note to self: just got Barnes & Noble coupons, hmmmm...)

#6: I usually pass my audiobooks on to a nearby nursing home because so many cannot read any longer, but I'm keeping Mockingbird.

I loved Sissy Spacek's narration of To Kill a Mockingbird (by Harper Lee). In fact, the audio is one of my personal pantheon of all-time great audiobooks. There are critics who claim that her East Texas accent is wrong; but it simply didn't get in the way of the story or the delivery. I did however, think she was wrong for Stephen King's Carrie. Yes, I know she starred in the film, but the original story is much more Down East in flavor and there's no getting around her twang in the audio :-/

I agree - this is one of my favourites too. Sissy Spacek does a great job and Scout will always have her Texas drawl for me.
