It's been a while since I've seen any really exciting new desktop applications, but I've just been testing the word processor / office suite called Papyrus, and it comes pretty close:
http://www.rom-logicware.com/
Imagine we were starting from scratch (erasing 20 years of MS Word kludge) and were designing a simple and powerful word processor from the ground up. That's what Papyrus looks like to me so far. Very clean, very elegant, very small, and very fast. I'm probably going to order the full office version (only $99) soon; there is a very technical advanced font problem I'm trying to straighten out first. There's a free Works version for people who don't want to pay the $99.
Has anyone else tried Papyrus?
