Book tastes

I prefer well written books with a strong sense of place and well developed characters. I gravitate towards historical fiction and enjoy books with unusual narrative techniques or anything told in an original way.

Don't get this!

Romance, biography/memoir or mass market fiction.

Other notes

Some recent favorites have been Winesburg, Ohio, When We Cease to Understand the World, Cloud Cuckoo Land, Middlemarch and The Goldfinch.

Secret Santa

saroz: bothwa and I seem to like a lot of the same, slightly odd historical lit books.

Several suggestions: Sarah Waters' "The Little Stranger," Sarah Perry's "The Essex Serpent," Louise Erdrich's "The Master Butchers Singing Club," Michel Faber's "The Book of Strange New Things." All excellent. (Nov 25, 2023, 7:13pm)
