La mia biblioteca
My library began life as a spare bedroom and now has floor to ceiling shelves all the way around, with the exception of the window and door. A few of the shelves are dedicated for display purposes, but not much anymore - too many books need a home! There is a hanging map file that is bursting with maps, and a large collection of photographs and stereographs.

Recently, there has a running debate between my wife and I about whether to start building stacks in the library or to allow the bookshelves to overrun the rest of the house. As it is, there are at least 5 bookshelves in other rooms for books that wouldn't fit in the main library.

I've always dreamt of having a large library in a tower - a large, round room with a black, wrought iron spiral staircase in the center rising to the second floor and tall, dark wooden ladders that can be rolled around the room as need dictates. On the ground floor would be two stories tall and serve as a study, with a old roll top desk, a few well worn but quite serviceable reading chairs, a wide fireplace, a large globe, and a few floor lamps scattered about. The floor above would be lined with shelves but would have some small space reserved for curious displays of mementos from past adventures. A wrought iron railing would protect the open view to the ground floor and would be furnished with a landing for the spiral stair. It would open into the Master bedroom, which is where the secret access to the top floor would be hidden - behind a hinged bookshelf of course. Ah well, hope springs eternal...
Informazione su di me
I have recently finished a graduate program in Library and Information Science, a goal that I have had for some time but never before had the opportunity to fulfill. My main interest is photographic archives, but all aspects of history appeal to me so I am hopeful that things will work out well in the end.
