I've been an avid reader for the last 30 years or so. I'll read nearly anything, but my favorites are fantasy and science fiction. In my teens, I read a lot of Harlequin Romance type books, mixed in with Stephen King and whatever my literature teachers assigned. I can blame/credit my husband for getting me hooked on Sci-Fi/Fantasy. He gave me a book called "The Dragon and The George" shortly after we met, and I've been hooked ever since.
