Humanities keyed. Languages: English, Hawaiian, French mainly; German (not literary), and Latin (Classical, hesitantly, even if dictionary). Strong in British & American English Language and Lit., Sociolinguistics, Anthropological Art, Archaeology, all Western Art (especially music , drama, and architecture), Philosophy, and History (world - especially Greek, Roman, European, English, Oceanian, Chinese). For the past 20 years, the Sciences make up about a fourth of my book purchase interests: theory and history of biology, astronomy, physics. I have few childrenʻs books but my grand-children supply me well to keep me up with their times: so to my Tolkien, Moʻolelo Hawaiʻi,etc., they share their Harry Potter books, DVDs, charts, and figurines of characters. Whatʻs missing: (1) cookbooks (I donʻt cook but love to watch live cooking on TV) and (2) gardening (I donʻt garden but love gardens). I have a good collection of VHS and DVDs that match favourite authorsʻ works: e.g. Jane Austenʻs Pride and Prejudice (3 productions); Hardyʻs novels; Henry Jamesʻ novels -- as well as (my favorite lit collection section (poetry) -- poetsʻ readings (e,g Yeats, Thomas, Eliot, Frost, Angelou). Though in need of downsizing, I am tempted to add "Science as Literature" e.g. Darwinʻs ORIGIN OF SPECIES, Rachel Carsonʻs SILENT SPRING, AND Siddhartha Mukerjeeʻs THE EMPEROR OF ALL MALADIES. It would complement my long life interest in the "Bible as Literature" (King James Ver.), translated in 19th c. New England Missionaryʻs Hawaiian and recently in University-Plus-Modern Hawaiian, after a Creole Hawaiʻi English edition.
