Informazioni su di meI am a psychologist by training and a professor by employment history. I worked for 32 years at The Ohio State University, where I ended up doing thirty years to life as things are turned out. I have achieved the lofty title of Professor Emeritus with my retirement in 2015, although I still engage in limited clinical teaching and research. My primary job has been in the Department of Pediatrics, where I mainly did research and clinical work in developmental disabilities, and that mostly with younger children. I am a published author in the scientific literature in my specialties, and an editor or co-editor of 16 books, to most of which I was also a chapter contributor. All that came with the territory of my my day job. I was also a graduate faculty member in one of the few remaining doctoral programs in psychology specializing in developmental disabilities, which means that it is also among the best (no really). Ohio State is a never ending intellectual universe that no one could hope to explore in a lifetime. It is a good place for a career in psychology and discovery.
I read and study ancient and medieval history and culture for fun and enjoy related historical fiction. I am a long time member of the Society for Creative Anachronism, although I tend to stay on the sidelines in the organization.
La mia bibliotecaI began to enter my books in early 2009. I should be able to enter about 100 or so each month at my likely rate of getting to the task. (This was overly optimistic, I still have hundreds to list of my older library and started listing mostly "just read" books circa 2011.) There should be many books related to my research and work, and even more related to my personal reading preferences. I am interested in history, mostly but not entirely of the West, from prehistory to today's political and cultural history. I am interested in critical thinking and general science. I have been a science fiction and fantasy reader since I learned to read, but many of my books read and collected before age 21, when I left home forever, were lost in the dissolution of my boyhood home in New Jersey when things fell apart there. I mourned the loss and moved on to acquire more books than could be good for a person. I suspect that I have entered barely a quarter of the books in my library as of 2015.
