Funny story-- out of spite one day, after some disparaging comments re. my horses, made by my beloved husband, I promptly scooped up every horse book I owned (a few magazines and books did escape the holocaust, however) and proceeded to cram all into a box, and dumped them off like unwanted babies at the local library, which was closed at the time. It rained lightly that night, which I'm sure was unkind to the box of books; but when I had a change of heart and my sanity returned, I was disappointed to find, upon my rush to the library, that they were gone, box and all.

All that, to spite my husband, and it did nothing to irritate or even irk him in the remotest way.

Mood disorders and insanity aside, I've since begun learning to ignore his largely harmless (yet I still hate them!) comments he flings here & there. I have been on a journey, desperately searching for my lost books, to find them and bring them home again. I know most of their content by heart, but in the course of training horses, they've always been a ready source of help when some idea or solution escapes me. I miss them terribly, especially all last winter, when the weather makes it necessary to set aside hands on horse work, and resort to "classroom" training, lol!

I love books. I still have many many books, not horse related, but an eclectic collection of fiction, non-fiction, and reference materials. I even had an ancient German family Bible come my way a couple of years ago, and it lives in a place of honor, carefully preserved so that it might live another 100 years. It has been a treasured connection to the past, and held wonderful clues to the origin of part of my heritage!

I fancy myself a lifelong learner, never having (yet) had the opportunity to return to college....so I grab a book (or nowadays, even a webpage....after all, a properly used PC can be a library on one's desk, yes? (-: ) and proceed to learn how to do something myself when I get a mind to.

I am keenly interested in swapping books, or at least, finding books I need at a reasonable (i.e., cheap!) cost, so if anyone is looking for something, or has something they think might interest me, I'd love to hear from you. I will go through my inventory soon, and list my own library contents for your perusal.

And by the way-- I am seeking a book that is near and dear to my heart, from childhood: "Alexander and the Magical Mouse". I loved the story, but more than that, the beautiful illustrations by Phillipe Fixx were captivating, and I would love to see the book again! It would be one I'd love to have in my library always.

So, that's me, the bookish part of me, anyhow! Perhaps swapping and borrowing would be of interest to anyone out there...?
Informazione su di me
Voracious reader, horse trainer and lover, mom, frustrated artist & photographer. (Most of my frustratuion is derived from a) retail job of necessity that I cannot stand, and b) horrid time constraints caused by (a), among other things, that keep me from my passions of horses and photography. Married mom of three gorgeous, talented, genius kids who also are voracious readers, appearing to be college bound people.
