I have not yet begun to fight, when it comes to listing my library here -- in fact, my few books rather embarrass me! I have 43 [yes, really] boxes of books sitting around my apartment from a move in August 2008 [yes, really], but my inertia, depression, and overwork have kept me from shelving [and listing] them. So instead I've just been ADDING to the collection, rather than delving into what I've already got; in the last 2-1/12 years I've bought at least 250 MORE books! Thank God for BetterWorldBooks.com ...

Although I was educated as a French teacher, the fact that I'm ABD doesn't endear me to colleges and universities looking for faculty members. And high schools only want "teachers" who have certificates, not anyone with a real education. (I've been passed over more times than I can count for someone with 18 undergrad hours in French and a teaching certificate but NO accent or command of the language at all, while I have a pretty darn good accent -- I've been told by native speakers -- and 14 years of teaching, not to mention a full undergrad degree in the language itself but also a master's and most of a doctorate. But I'm not bitter. And nobody bothers to learn French in Texas anyway -- even if they take French classes!)
