Only contains books I am interested in reading.I used to be a prolific reader since I was a teenager. I remember reading Dickens and Wells especially. When I was about fourteen I connected with my physics teacher, a small man with a large head called Mr Leeson. He reminded me of the Mekon in the Dan Dare comic strip. I just liked the way he explained science, and he seemed to like me too. He said once that he liked reading Hank Janson books and Mickey Spillane, so I began reading them too. As soon as I liked a book I would read more by the same author. At one time I had the whole set of Philip K. Dick paperbacks long before Ridley Scott made him famous with Blade Runner in 1982. Looking back,I think my desire to read has been sporadic, where now it is constant.
Informazione su di me
I am that. When I worked to earn money I programmed computers mainly on a freelance basis. I worked for top companies like British Petroleum (BP) but also small companies like one in Zurich that was owned by a German national who had one employee (himself) and was an inventor. He was also a very good pianist who played along to records that had the piano part missing. Another person I worked for, again was a German, called Herr Lutz and living in Hamburg. But mostly I worked for large companies including quite a few banks.
When I was at secondary school I was an avid sportsman. I played cricket for Essex schoolboys and remember playing against Keith Fletcher who went on to become a world famous player for England. I was a good footballer too and had a trial for Arsenal and Chelsea. I remember going to Highbury stadium, then by coach to Colney. My headmaster received a letter back saying although I was of a high standard I wasn't what they were looking for. I don't remember being sad about it but I decided not to go to the Chelsea trial. I would have loved to have made a living as a professional sportsman especially cricketer. I remember one of my non sporting aquaintences was a boy called *** whose father was a well known tenor sax player. Me and a couple of other classmates went round to his house to see his saxaphone, but when we got there his dad wouldn't let him show it to us. He explained that he was only allowed to get it out of its case when he practised. Very weird.
When I left school my first paid job was as a musician as I was an accomplished piano player who could read music. My employer was Ric Gunnell, an agent who also managed Georgie Fame - a very popular organist/singer.
