As a former librarian I’ve no problem culling my library and have done so five times. Moving, after my husband’s death, from a large house to a small apartment my collection was drastically culled by 80% and I’m left with beloved reference books as well as the pick of my fiction and non fiction. In the cull I let go most of my novels as I know I’ll never read them a second time. Those I read every few years are still with me.

I’ve been an avid reader since the age of six. Lucky for me my parents were uni educated and books lined the walls of our home. I left school at 16, was 16 years interweaving my work as a librarian and completing my degree & post grad studies, then 16 years an educator in the tertiary sector, then 16 years working in the writing & editing industry. Now I’m retired from the paid workforce and live in an apartment 16. I expect the next 16 years to be filled with family & friends, writing, travel, film & music pursuits, political action and there may be time for reading.
