My academic work led me to believe that people can live and thrive on a modest income more happily than is generally supposed, which also curtails the use of fossil fuels and other non-renewable resources. Historically bohemians have lived this way with success if they reach a threshold of adequate income. I therefore am drawn to the possibilities of a sustainable bohemian society in which people live more lightly on the Earth. When we read, we enrich our experience in an ecologically sustainable way, especially when we share books, support resources like Project Gutenberg, expand public libraries, and work to relax draconian copyright restrictions. I possess many books but for me the ideal book is one worn by many hands.
Informazione su di me
My 2017 75-book challenge thread

I'm originally from Detroit, where I grew up enjoying their then excellent public libraries. I taught psychology at Athabasca University (Canada's Open University) for many years before retiring in 2014. As an undergraduate I had minored in English and dabbled in writing fiction, which I continued in graduate school at West Virginia University. One of the courses I taught was the Psychology of the Arts, which encompassed literature. I also wrote a few articles concerned with different facets of psychology and literature. So I've long been fascinated by the literary arts in various capacities and am happy to now have the time to read more extensively. I'm happily married and have two children who now attend university.
