I started collecting history books in 1976 and have well over 2,000 of them. I try to get books that add something to my knowledge and not just collect for the sake of it (or I'd have tens of thousands of books!). However, I did manage to collect all 158 of the Ballantine History of the Violent Century books and have them proudly displayed in order on a shelf. The first two history books I ever read were Pearl Harbor and Churchill 1914 - 18 from that series. That was back when you could buy them new in book stores!

Very good selection of strategic, naval and ancient history books with fair amounts of WWI through Korea and WBtS. Have also recently gotten stronger on modern conflicts and post Korean War history in general.

I am an insurance underwriter who wanted to be a history teacher. But they don't pay teachers much and I like living indoors and eating regularly. But it worked out well as the insurance gig pays for my books! I am primarily interested in military history, especially naval history and strategic studies (I am a huge fan of John Boyd of OODA loop fame). Also interested in ancient Rome, the War Between the States, Russia and the Soviet Union and the Red Army in WWII.
