La mia biblioteca
The Robert W. Gray Library Collection of the Southern Highland Craft Guild dates back to the Guild's origins in 1930. The Craft Guild was founded by Olive Dame Campbell of the John C. Campbell Folk School and Allen Eaton of the Russell Sage Foundation, with help from many other people. The first books were donated in order to give Appalachian craft people a resource for improving their craft technique and to show what cultures around the world created. The library has continued to grow mostly from donations. Today we have over 9,000 books covering all types of craft art as well as books on the Highlands area, international crafts, and related subjects. The library subscribes to 47 current periodicals and has other magazine titles which are not current. The collection is open to the public whenever the Folk Art Center is open - 7 days a week except Thanksgiving, Christmas Day, and New Year's. The books do not circulate. Photocopying and scanning are available.
