Currently building a library for my young grandchildren.

My mother was a poet and story writer, and she taught me to read before I started school. Reading became my favorite pastime almost immediately, and I can't imagine a life without good books.

After working in a public library for sixteen years and handling thousands of donated books for book sales, I came to realize that there actually are books that have no redeeming value, and I have no qualms about recycling otherwise useless books or using them for craft projects. Needless to say, those are not the kinds of books I am seeking for my grandchildren's library! I still make mistakes sometimes when buying books, and I still need to purge a few titles from my collection, but I am learning to use the expertise of others I trust and feel that my library is now moving in the right direction.

I'm a newly retired mother of two and grandmother of three (a college freshman, a high school senior, and a two-year-old), with another grandchild due in May 2024. My husband is also retired. Our son is a "Nuke" in the Navy, serving on a fast-attack submarine in the North Atlantic fleet. Our daughter is a stay-at-home mom who is making a wonderful home for her husband and growing family.

I enjoy reading, book-hunting, family get-togethers, and volunteering.
